Its about or 4 years old. Made in Korea. 22 frets. 2 volume and 1 tone 2 duncan design humbuckers(replaced with EMGs) give ya a dollar if you can guess which ones.60 81. Awesome old explorer model. Its kinda vintage white. looks like Hetfield's one he used in the "one" video. Got white cause everyone has a black one.good sized neck. feels thick but thin at the same time. I got a great case with it. I think its mahogany. fixed bridge. gotoh tuners and a rosewood fretboard. Bolt on. Sounds great to me. I guess thats it.

Sound : 10
Perfect. Pure metal or even blues. Heavy Metal is made easy with this beast. I'm a simple player just plug it in to my Crate GFX-65. I don't need effects just distortion or maybe some chorous or reverb.
Good heavy crunch ecspecially with the 81. Gets the Metallica sound clean or distorted.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Came with the strings a little high but I fixed that. Pickups were perfect. It just needed a little cleaning but other than that great.
Great playing standing up or sitting down.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It will out live me! I dropped it once. OOPS! It was sitting on my amp and fell off. It was fine. I was shocked. A fall like that would have killed someone. I put straplocks on it. No more chances. Finish is like metal. Not going anywhere. Hardware is pretty sturdy. Seems like it will last. It'll look great vintaged.

Never needed um.

I've only been playing for a year but I'm pretty good I guess. Love metal. I own a Jackson KV3 and hopefully soon be getting an ESP LTD V-200. If it were stollen I'd find that a**hole and stab him with my Jackson where the sun doesn't shine, and get my guiatr back. Cause I know it would be hard to find another in this condition. It was this or an Epiphone LP. I heard some bad stories about Epips. And I always loved Explorers. I like to be different. Everyone has a LP. Well I have a f***ing EXP!

It was made in 98 I believe, it is a bolt on, it has 22 Frets and it has 1 volume and one tone control. The p/u config is h/h, and the guitar came with crappy Duncan Design passive pickups. My guitar was white, it had a tuneomatic w/ stopbar tailpiece. Gotoh non locking Tuners, and the neck was pretty fat. An ESP Hardshell case was included.
Setup is pretty much perfect for this guitar, except for the electronics.

Sound : 7
The sound is alright with the DD p/us in there, but when I get my new EXP I'm going to drop some kick ass EMGs in there.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitars perfect, the action not bad, and the pickups weren't in a bad position. No floaws on the guitar, good wood, everything was perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar seems like it would last forever, cept for the damn strap buttons, its just not the best shape for non-strap locks, not ESP's fault.
I'd gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with ESP, but my friend has had pretty good experiences.

Overall Rating : 10
This is my kind of a guitar, except for the bolt on neck. I sold my EXP-200 for an ESP Exp w/ a set neck and EMGs. I will probably never find another set neck old explorer, thats why I picked this one up. If it were stolen I'd be hard pressed to find another one. I just wish I had asked about the fretboard, it was a vintage fretboard and I didn't like it too much. I would compare it to my new EXP but that'd be unfair, =]

This is a 1999 EXP-200 I got on clearance. It's your basic setup, 2 humbuckers, 3-way switch, vol and tone. It came with "Duncan Designed" p.o.s. pickups. Body is mahogany, neck is maple I believe.

Sound : 8
This guitar sounded thin and bright with the Duncan designed pieces of poo. The sound is much improved with the EMG 81/85's I threw in there. This is good if you like metal. Not the guitar to pickup if you like a wide variety of styles.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The setup when I got this guitar was atrocious, after a fretjob and a setup the action is low and smooth. I picked this one up from Musician's friend as a scratch and dent. It came with one little paint chip on the upper horn. The guitar is put together very well overall. One thing that I can't stand about this guitar is the cheap hardware. The tune-o-matic bridge saddles have some very sharp edges that I had to round off. The original tone pot was also very scratchy and rough feeling.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is sturdy. I think I could gig with it without any probs but I wouldn't because I can't stand the neck.

never had to deal with em

I own a bunch of guitars and this particular EXP has a neck I just can't seem to get used to. It's to thin and narrow for me. Which is wierd since I have fairly small hands. I have the standard ESP EXP also and believe me there is a huge difference in the way it feels and sounds. I believe in this case you get what you pay for. The LTD line is fine, but I believe if you truly want a guitar that has that feel of quality you're gonna have to pay for it. See my review for the standard EXP.

If this guitar was stolen I don't think I'd get another LTD version, but a standard one. Overall a nice guitar, I just wish it had that "magical" quality about it like my other EXP. One other thing, if you're thinking about buying a guitar mail order try to play the same model out in a store if you can, cuz if I played this guitar first I may not have bought it because of the neck.

My EXP was made in "99" and was made in the USA. The guitar has 22 frets with nice dot inlays. My axe has a solid Black top that is the thickest shit I have seen in a while. You get a 3-way selector switch and I have 2 EMGs in it, a 60n and a 81b. These humbuckers are active electronics and man there AWESOME! If your a real guitarist than you should know what the body looks like, same as Jaymz Hetfeilds. The guitar has a tune-o-matic system with a panted and glossed neck to match the nice body!! It cam with a fitted ESP case

I play mostly metal and this guitar really shines with that!! I use a Marshall JCM 900 with the 1960A cab and the all tube amps really go great with the EMGS and plus my VG-8 I use for effects! I wouldn't say that this guitar has a bright sound but the sound it gives off is like a real warm a full sound. I can't reall say that the guitar makes alot of sounds because thats my proccesors job!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
When I got this guitar in the mail from AMS it was set up perfectly, I never even messed with anything on it!!! I know that AMS is responsible for the perfection! NOT ONE FLAW

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has withstanded many live gigs. The hardware is just as tough as the paint and just about everything on the guitar is pefect. Very Solid

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 10 years and this all mighty axe is mainly what I have been waking up in the morning for! I was going to get a les paul but there not as good as people say. I chose this one because it is the best guitar ever made, why not get it! I play through a Jackson King-V and a Rhandy Rhoads but this one beats them.

korean made explorer copy. hell, i think they make em better then gibson does! the stock duncan designed pu's that came with it we're definetly the best sock pickups that i have ever heard. great harmonics, but out of all the reviews that i have seen on this site, they all seem to reccomend emg pickups. and for a good reason, these guitars really seem to be made for emgpickups. the stock electronics are allright, the pickup selector sucks. occasionaly i'll have it switched to the bridge and all of a sudden it goes to the middle selection. so i think i'll need a new one. the reason i bought this guitar is because esp just recently upgraded all the woods to the exact same as the esp model that is three times the price. the older models, (pre 1999), were all used with cheaper woods. i think you can all see the other specs from all the other reviews.

Sound : 10
the type of music i play is a lot of heavy metal and some occasional blues, so this really suits my tastes. i threw an emg 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck, for really heavy thick metal riffs the 81 is king. but for the fuller bluestone, (which, supprisingly this guitar is great for), i would choose the 85. the main reason i got this guitar, ( besides my hero james hetfield plays it) is that i'm 6'2" and a pretty big guy, so since this guitar is kinda big it suits my height pretty well, i dont look like i'm playing a ukielee. (ps i know that's spelled wrong, but, uh, dont care) and with the emg's, it's the quietest guitar i have ever played, and then when you want it to be loud, oh man, it's LOUD. awesome sustain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
i got it from the factory in awesome condition, action was perfectly low, without any fret buzz. the new pickups were done great by the guys at bizzarre guitar in reno. perfect in every way

Reliability/Durability : 8
ok, i'll admit it, sure this guitar is a tank, but i frankly have one complaint, the hardware sucks. the tuners come out of tune a lot more than my last guitar ever did and the paint comes off of them unbelievably bad. so those are going next. other than that, hell, i'd play it forever.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to call em. but i've heard great things.

Overall Rating : 10
awesom guitar.
