It has Emg active picks with a push pull coil Tap on tone control. It is equipped with the standard licensed Floyd Rose locking bridge. The bridge works but not as good as the original. The bolt on neck is made from maple and sports a rosewood 24 extra jumbo fretboard. It has the high fret wire that makes this guitar a metal machine. It has the Gothic style body and is heavy but comfortable. Something to look for is that the paint chips away very easy.

Sound : 6
Its a bright sounding guitar with some acoustic properties. It lacks good sustain but can be fixed by changing the tuners or the bridge. I mostly run this guitar straight into my half stack and it sizzles. The Emg's are hot and were made for ripping out some metal. You cant tell much difference then you slip the coils with the tab on distortion but through a clean channel you get about 15 Db boost.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
This thing sucked so much *** from the factory. The fourteenth fret buzzed and had to dress the whole fretboard. The Bridge was floating up off the body and out of intonation. I took it in to the shop and had a pro work on it for under 100 bucks.

Reliability/Durability : 6
When I first got this guitar is wasn't so reliable. It kept going out of tune and the bridge peeled up. I tried a few different things, I stop using the whammy bar and it helped. I finally just switched out the bridge with a original Floyd Rose and installed a trem setter. That did the job and she has not gave me problems since.

Customer Support : 9
I got a hold of them for the bridge spec's and the got back to me with in a day through email.

Overall Rating : 8
For the price you pay for this guitar kicks ***. Esp knows there **** and I recommend them highly. This guitar just need a little love that's all. All guitars need to be set up to your liking or they will never give what you want. If I had to do it all over again I would have picked it up for sure.

Features : 7
24 frets
volume,tone,3 way switch
2 emg passive pickups
floyd rose style tremolo
jumbo frets
hardshell case

Sound : 7
I only play metal so for any other style of music i couldnt tell you, but as far as for metal goes it is a decent sounding guitar. active pickups would defenetly sound better though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action isnt low enough for my taste, but i play lead and i need a lower action than this guitar will provide straight from the factory.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Seems to be a fairly rugged and dependable guitar, the hardware is decent.

Customer Support : 1
Can not get replacement parts from them.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for 10 years.
if the guitar was ever stolen i would probably buy another if i had the money.

I bought my F-200 about the summer '03 from musiciansfriend.
24 EXTRA JUMBO frets.
solid body
volume, toggle, tone(instead of afterburner, i dont know when they changed it, and according to the specs on the site they never did change it)
2 EMG-HZ4 passive humbuckers
Maple neck, Basswood body, very pretty rosewood fretboard.
Black finish.
Style.. well you would have to see it... kind of like a strat from hell with no pickguard, actually.
liscensed floyd rose, double locking.
Stock ESP tuners.
Very fast neck, paper thin like a jackson. Doesnt personally suit me.
cheap cable included. Bolt-on.

Two big beefs about the guitar.
theres a little thing on top(one person described as a 'tit') that sticks into your pelvic bone when playing live. Other people however have said it fits very well, so it may just be my way of holding it/standing.

The other bigger one is the EXTRA JUMBO frets. Its like running your hand up and down a cheese grator. I woulndt even consider tackeling an allman brothers cover with this guitar, it just wont happen.

Sound : 8
This guitar doesnt much suit my style. Its good for more metal and "screamo" sounds with decent distortion. My style is rock'n'roll and blues. Led Zeppelin, Cream, Eagles, ZZ top, too many more to name but thats a decent cross-section.

I use it with a Marshall AVT100 with the amp OD channels.

It's relitivly quiet, as to be expected with shielded humbuckers.

Rich/Full in the lower registers but it gets brighter and more hollow as it gets more into the treble. Great for distortion, and the clean actually sounds very nice with a little Marshall reverb.

The variety is decent. Ive been playing rock and blues for two years on it and its always sounded fine(since i upgraded from my marshall MG15CD and DS-1 at least) Good power chord drop D sound, i guess. Might not want to take it from me, because i really have no taste for that type of thing which makes it hard to judge.

Sound overall is good, unless you're trying to do a blues solo with multiple notes. That the EMG bar-magnet isnt made for this is the conclusion i have come to, so if you like solos that dont use knife-edge distortion you may not like this guitar, but if you're more into shredding this guitar could very well be your best friend.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Factory action was amazing. Floyd's are good for that.
Pickups were good, but it was a first guitar and i might not know the difference and i dont know how much they have been adjusted, to be honest.
Routing was good, wiring is very sturdy, one look at the controls and you can see they arent cheap with solder(coughmarshallfootpedals)

No flaws except the cover plate for the input jack isnt properly curved with the wood, which means that every half hour you have to tighten the nut or the cable wiggles. Not a big deal, lock-tight could fix it but i never got around to it.

The Knobs turn very well. Unlike some fenders i have played where the volume and tone controls only register in the 0-3, 7-10 areas the volume and tone gradually go up/down evenly across the dial.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This seems to be a very well made guitar. Its never given me any problems, except one, which was my fault. Ill explain.

I took out the bridge pickup.. curiosity/wanted to see if i could open it up to fool with it... well, the cover is glued to the coils, so no can do, and i dropped it on my kitchen floor(ugh...) cracked a tile(it was about to be replaced anyway) and now, my bridge pickups is a single-coil. I guess i broke one of the wires going in or ocmming out of the other coil. The sound on middle position is only the neck PU, but on bridge position it sounds like a(very quiet) tele with lipstick's on bridge. Almost a bit of a beatles sound, actually its kinda cool at times.

Other than that, the bolts on the nut-lock on the floyd rose seem to be stripping, but i took them off as i dont use the whammy bar anyway.

You may want to change the tuning heads, also.

The finish is decently tough. A few dings which stand out due to the very light wood against the black finish, but it seems very hard so i doubt it will soon wear through. And the area for buckle-rash is plastic to house the springs for the bridge anyway.

Strap buttons pretty solid. I never replaced them and actually had a few incidents with the rear strap lock... all in my room with carpet though.

I dont doubt that its a solid, reliable guitar. It's never done anything that i didnt do to it.

I doubt i would gig without a backup, i have played it live a few times with no backup, but i wouldnt chance it too many times, no matter how reliable it seems to be now.

Customer Support : No Opinion
% year warranty? Im not entirely sure. Iv never delt with the company, so i dont know, and i somehow doubt anything will go wrong in that period.

Overall Rating : 9
Im 17 and iv been playing about two and a half years, I own a Marshall AVT100 and a Takamine acoustic/electric, ESP viper 104 bass, and a Wine Red Gibson Les Paul Deluxe(best graduation gift ever.)

I wish i hadent gotten it on a whim and picked a different body style, but thats a preference issue.

Im in the process of selling this guitar, actually... Nothing against it, but i have an effin Gibson now. haha.

I hate the frets, too big. I like the agressive sharp sound it has though, it can cut damn good with a good distortion.

it was a first electric... got it online, didnt shop around.

Its what it is. I dont really like that though, so if i were to wish anything i would with it were something differnt.

And thats pretty much it.

The overall rating would be closer to an 8.5, but becasue its lower due to taste, Ill give it a 9.

Ok, Mine is a 2000 model made in Korea and it's color is Black Cherry. It has 24 Jumbo Frets with just a volume knob which I love because I never use the tone knob and three way toggle switch. It had EMG HZ's in it but after trying everything under the sun I finally came to the realization that these pickups suck. I installed a Gibson 496R(neck) and a Gibson 500T(bridge) and this guitar now sounds like a $1000 guitar. The body style is pretty cool I first saw it on line and didn't care for it but once I saw it at Mars I liked it much better. It also has the Floyd Rose Licensed tremolo which I had a problem with the strings popping out like I read someone else had. But all I did was add a spring which leveled the tremolo, problem solved. I've never had a problem with hearing the springs like I also read.

Sound : 10
I play classic rock, old school metal Ozzy, Priest, Maiden etc. and 80's metal Dokken, Skid Row, Bon Jovi etc. I play it through various stomp boxes, Boss SD-1, Cry Baby wah, EVH Phase 90, Boss DM-2 Delay and Boss CE-2 Chorus and into a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL. Ever since I installed those Gibson pickups it's a totally different guitar. I try for the Van Halen sound without trying to copy it exactly I like to add my on flavors. But this guitar sounds wickedly close to what you'll hear on Van Halen 1. The only thing I can say that I don't like about this guitar is the location of the volume knob. I would have put it closer to the pickups. When the whammy bar hangs down it lays right on top of it. The one thing that I love about the guitar that doesn't have to do with the sound or playability is the color. I don't know why the stopped using that color but it's a definite eye catcher. But I'm happy that I have a somewhat unique guitar because of it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Well, like I said above the finnish is awesome. The fit is nice too except when sitting and playing, that little tit on the top pokes in my chest. That just may be the way I play but I do notice it after awhile. I've set the action to my liking so I guess you can say it's my signature action.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've used this guitar at gigs and at practice and have never had any problems. However before I had the chance to play gigs with it the cord jack nut became lose and instead of me fixing it properly I just kept tightening it with my hand. after about 2 months of reaching down a tightening it I realized that I was doing more twisting then tightening and rip the wires off. But I just popped the back cover off re-soldiered it and haven't had a problem since. I would use it without a back up, but since it's a floating tremolo make sure the strings are fresh. You know what happens when you pop a string on a floating tremolo.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed them

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Over all I'll give it a 9 because I had to modify it a bit. But it's now a 10. I would definetly buy another if it where lost or stolen. They now make the F 250 which is basicly the same guitar only it has a set neck. I'm not sure if they still make the F 200? I would say no since they don't show it on the ESP web site.

Whats not to like

Sound : 10
I've been playing for almost a decade and have had alot of guitars along the way, but i've never had one like this. I use alot of distortion but occassionally go clean and either setting sounds perfect. No doubt absolute perfection

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Hmmmm difficult one to sum up. The trem is a little jerky but I hardly ever use it. As far as soloing goes its totally capable.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've had the guitar for about 2 years and its been more reliable then anything I've ever played. The strings fit in place perfectly the body doesnt pick up any scratches either. This things built like a brick shithouse.

I also own an ESP ex-102 but that doesnt even compare to the f-200. I had an EMG 81 and a 60 put on it and now it sounds even better than b4. I paid #700 for this baby then it got reduced but I dont give a shit. I would of paid a grand for it.

2002-2003? Made in Korea. Basswood body, gunmetal blue paint, original style double cutaway with great upper fret access, maple neck, unpainted neck,3x3 headstock painted, bolt on, rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets, nice arrow head inlays, model name at 12th fret. Stock ESP tuners, licensed lo-pro Floyd Rose, stock EMG HZ4 pickups, stock with volume control, 3 way toggle, and EMG Afterburner (up to 20 db of gain). Came with 2 allen key wrenches, cheapo cable, and .009 gauge ghs strings.

A lot of these features are really nice, but some I would change and have. The liscensed Floyd Rose is horrible, some of the saddles, mainly the G through upper E strings, wont hold down the string real well and it pops out. I've never had anything but bad experiences with liscensed Floyds. I would try to get a real Floyd, but I'd have to have the body modded for it, and I'm not looking forward to it.

Sound : 9
I play a lot of styles of music, mainly older metal like Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica. At practice and gigs, it runs through a Morley Bad Horsie II, and straight into a Carvin MTS 3200 with Behringer cab. At home, I run it into the Morley, Zoom GFX8 and Digitech Metal Master.

This guitar, with my current pickup configuration, EMG 85 in bridge and EMG 60 in neck, it gives the guitar a lot of bite and bass. When I had the HZs and a Duncan in it, they sounded too brittle and trebbly with the basswood body, but the 85 and 60 fixed it a lot. I had it modded for two volumes, a tone, and the afterburner so I can dial in more sounds, and it helped a lot. Great cleans from both pick ups and brutal distortions also!

The only thing lacking is sustain. Between the bolt-on neck, basswood body, and floyd rose, there's isn't going to be much sustain. It sucks but you gotta expect that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action seemed fine out of the factor, but I took it to get set up for .010-.046 strings as soon as I got it, so I can't really comment on it. Now the action is nice and low, but buzzing in some areas, but that's probably from trying to dismantle the bridge to fit a different and changing gauges, tunings, ect. so it's my own fault.

There was a little finish problem on the lower horn, on top of it when i got it, the paint felt like it wasnt clear coated and it wiped off to the barewood. Also on the top of the headstock there is a chip that was there when I received, neither affect the performance but you gotta wonder about the factory assembly.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a pretty solid guitar. I've had it for over a year, never gigged but jammed with and used a lot, even struck by lightning and it still goes. I replaced the strap buttons with Dunlop strap locks, but the factory ones were pretty damn solid and reliable. I'd never gig without a backup, especially this damn Floyd Rose.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had problems, never dealt with them. Limited lifetime warranty.

Overall Rating : 8
I've playing about 3 years and owned 2 other guitars, this is one probably the best, except for the damn Floyd. I wish this thing wouldn't have a liscensed Floyd Rose and a better neck joint for more sustain.
I probably wouldn't buy this model again, well it's discontinued, but I'd love to buy the F-400, such a beauty.
Great medium thickness neck, I can't stand baseball bats(Gibson) or paper sheets (Ibanez).
Great buy for the price, but next time I'm gonna for something a bit nicer.

i have not had any problems with this guitar accept 1 but it was kinda my fault this guitar does not come with a lock nut on the inside of the imput it stops the wires from spining every time it got lose i tighted it from the outside so eventually the wires spun to much and broke inside(the guy at the shop told me this)u gotta tighten it from the inside...lazy bastards just couldnt put a lock nut thing in so i had to pay $20 to get it fixed but o well

Customer Support : 7
it has a 2 year warranty but when it broke with the wire thing i called they said it was ''wear and tear'' so i had to pay for it

No tone knob (not that I'd use it anyways), instad it has a signal boost- an afterburner I believe, which to my ears is only useable on a clean channel and thus all but useless to me. Jumbo frets are a matter of preference I suppose but I tend to like standard spacings better. Floyd Rose Bridge, Single Volume Knob, and Extended Two Octave Fret Board (Sweeeet!)

Sound : 8
I've read quite a few negative comments on the sound but I definitely have no complaints. This is my fifth guitar and I won't lie I was initially drawn in by the shape (which is wicked) but after two years of playing it, I find the tone hard to match. Note Definition is good, plenty of sustain and there's thickness to it with a brighter edge than I am used too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I play more agressive stuff a la Deftones, Glassjaw, Rage, etc- and it has a nice tight feel to it that is good for punchy rhythmic stuff. People have posted complaints about twang but this is easily remedied by lowering the gauge of string you use. I have the titanium finish and it is beautiful, the body design is also quite attractive to my taste. My one complaint is the jumbo frets, which again is a point of preference- this may stem from the fact that I learned on an ibanez in standard spacing, but even after two years I'm not quite partial to it.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I beat the crap out of this guitar on stage and it always comes back for more. One posting cited how terribly unreliable it is but it sounds to me like his beef was more with the dealer (Tom Lees Vancouver, which incidentally enough is where i bought mine). This guitar is solid.

gunmetal blue, quality arrowhead inlays (rainbow colors up close), floyd rose trem, two emg hzs, goth sculpted body, afterburner...your typical package in the f-200 except for the afterburner, paid $270 musician's friend special (great deal)

Sound : 9
sound is excellent, great (passive) pickups, good harmonics...my only "complaint" here is that there doesn't seem to be much sound difference between the bridge and neck humbuckers...the afterburner (powerered with 9 volt battery) is a nice touch, and boosts the sound as you'd expect, especially on clean, but i don't use it much...prefer a pedal for that anyway

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
thin body style, not as this as an ibanez S guitar though...action is excellent...very fast fretboard, slim and narrow...knobs are very good, heavy-duty and knurled...black finish on the metal parts...tuners seem good, not excellent but good...very pretty headstock...a work of art, nice color (darker gunmetal blue) but i would have preferred black or titanium

Reliability/Durability : 9
haven't played it much...actually prefer my ol' 20 year young korean charvette for a slight advantage in playability! but make no mistake, this is a fine guitar for the price i paid
one possible durability issue: softer wood (basswood?) make this guitar a bit more dent-vulnerable than other guitars

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't dealt with them, didn't need to yet

Overall Rating : 9
a very good guitar here, careful korean construction, parts fit very well, good tuners, excellent sound with the two emg humbuckers (see above for minor gripe), nice finish and excellent hardware, great action/ultra fast narrow neck (a bit narrower than the ibanez wizard neck!), the styling of this beauty is a unique work of art

F-200 Made in USA which is always a plus. 24 jumbo frets - I love the the longer neck. I like the options.
EMG HZ pickups - I like the sound of them. I was told an 81 and 85 would sound better on it though but I haven't had a complaint about the sound yet. Bolt on neck. Pull gain is a cool feature if your running direct into an amp. If your playing through a pedal or processor you can tell it's working 90% of the time. Volume and 3 way selector are standard. I've had problem with the bolt that holds them and I've had to tighten them up.
Floyd Rose... I not sure I like this feature. I love the sound of the floyd Rose but it's not stable. Like If I go to palm mute sounds shifts. I've learned how to get around that. Honestly I would mutch rather lose the floyd rose and get better pickups. That and changing the strings on floyd roses suck.
Comes standard with GHS Strings. I like GHS strings so no complaints. String lucks on the nut. I hated the locks to be honest. I didn't like not being able to drop D or from the standard tunners. I took the locks off.

Sound : 7
I have run this thing through a few amps. Marshall Mode 4, Pevey 5150, H&K Warp 7, H&K Duetone, Line 6 Spider 212, Create Blue Vodoo, Roland KC500 & 300, and Peavey KB100. I mostly play EMO/harder Nu metal stuff and this guitar delievers the goods if you play those styles. I have a Boss GT-6 and it screams through this pedal. I ran it through a digitech pedal but it's not as clean or as clear. This guitar is incredible noisy when you pull the pull gain. The sound is not as rich as I'd like it some times. I honestly don't like the floyd rose on it. It looks cool but for what I like it not needed. Don't get me wrong... I don't know how to use the floyd rose that well so I count as loss. I've let friends play on that know how to use it and the floyd rose draws a new life out of it that I don't have the skill yet to pull. I like the neck. It's great for playing stinkin fast leads. The overall body is nice. I've played in lots of gigs and get nothing but comments on the killer looks and sound. This creature sounds best through an H&K Doutone. I also like it sounds coming straight though a Roland KC500 Keyboard amp. It's very clean and percise. I didn't not like the lock string feature at all. I like control my tunners. I don't think it had anything against the guitar but it's feature I quickly disliked and disasembled.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Once again loved the 24 fret neck. I like options. Didn't care for floyd rose but that could change. Hate the lock nuts. When the lock nuts where on and lock it cause issues with the floyd rose and sounds shifting. Once removed didn't have any more problems with the floyed rose or sound shifting. Tuning is also easier with them off. I don't like changing the strings on a floyed rose. Call me stupid but I could care less for that aspect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Reliablity is not an issue. I play at church all the time. This baby get's use in live performances 6-7 times a week and I've had no issues. This doesn't count the 2 hours practices everyday. It hold no problems with reliablity. Some of the nuts need tightening ocassionally. But you got to remember I'm putting lots of hours on this guitar a day. I've never need a back up. This supper guitar can take on any gig with out ever needing a sidekick back up.

Customer Support : 9
I contact customer support before and they were incrediably helpful. When I contacted them though it was for the f-205 bass counter part. Very reliable! Very friendly! They stand behind there product.

Overall Rating : 7
Playing 4 years now. This is my first electric so my review is not as good as someone who's own a few more guitars. If it was stolen or lost I'd would buy the f-100 or F-50 and then just change the pickups. Lock nuts and floyd rose I don't care for. If not those the F-300. I love the lock, weight, and feel of this guitar. It's killer fun to play. Plus I get a lot of remarks. I love the pickups, 24 fret neck, Solid Knob controls, and pull gain. I wish the picks were standard 81's or an 81 and 85. Other then that I love my F-200.
