Though it's a korean made instrument, it's very nice... It has mahogany (very heavy) body (old explorer style), rosewood fingerboard. Guess, neck is made of mahogany too...
2 EMG HZ (passive) pickups. I can't say if they are good or bad.. Just OK..
I'd like to change them anyway (perhaps, emg 85 or 81 will suit well)
It has 1 volume & 1 tone knobs. It's equipped with Licensed Floyd Rose tremolo (very good grip! I tune guitar very rarely)...
Tuners are quite good.
Set neck. 22 frets. Dot inlays & model mark inlay on 12th fret.

I play melodic/gothic metal, very often I play on clean sound. I can't say that clean is ok.. too much bass ;-zz
Distortion is quite well...
EMG pickups are not noisy at all and that is really good.

Well.. can't say the action is super ;-z
Sometimes there's smth wrong with pickup selector (rare, but it's so),
4th string has some problems with tunin' from 11 to 22 frets (may be this can be changed somehow.. ) The rest is ok.

Oh.. it takes time for one to get used to this explorer (I mean playin on the stage). For sit play explorer body is comfortable.
One more thing to say here is this: I found a little crack in the neck joint (polish cracked there). It's not dangerous, but anyway, I don't like it.

Well, overall rating is "good" I think. I like this guitar. Perhaps, I'd like to buy a new style explorer or new style "V" later.. I don't know. But ESP is great )). If this guitar were stolen, I would be very dissapointed, because I don't have money to buy another one like this ))

This is a lovely guitar. 22 extra jumbo frets, fairly smooth but it was smoother i've ground it down a fair bit! The body is an enormous heavy fat lump shaped by the gods! I would happily lamp someone at a gig if they were annoying me and it would probably turn their face into jelly. lovely. the bridge is a very complicated Floyd Rose that increases stringing time by about an hour but it makes up for it when it comes to the whammy on it. Bends right down and up to a certain extent wich is nice. the trem locking nut helps keep it in tune aswell. the pickups are EMG-HZ which are quite good but i think i'm going to have to get some EMG-81's soon as the HZ doesn't give as clean sound as i'd sometimes like. Still they're very good compared to others i've used. the finish is a rough satin finish which covers the whole body except for the fretboard. aesthetically this guitar is very good for those who want to get noticed. there's a volume pot and a tone pot but the volume pot seems to make the guitar either fully loud or no sound, is a very precise art t get it anywhere inbetween. its a three way switch, all neck, neck and bridge or bridge. the difference in sound between just bridge and just neck is admirable aswell, but switching creates a very annoying cliccking sound that momentarily drowns out anything you do. annoying onstage.

I play alot of grunge, metal, and rock in general. As far as grunge goes it suits mudhoney, alice in chains and the rest very well but it doesnt have the rich tone for stuff like pearl jam. The sound varies from crisp and clean to full an bassy. i play it through my Korg AX1G and my Hughes and Kettner Edition Blonde which sound pretty good. I love the way you can get totally over trebly sounds with very little effort and get a lovely crisp Metallica like sound perfect for soloing. With new pickups tough i think it will improve a truckload.

The most glaring error in production was that it had a big dent in one of the corners and bits of paint ha chipped off but that was why i go this guitar for half the price it should have been!! The rest of the setup was pretty much perfect. I? hardly had to tune it once i took it out of the case and the strings were in perfect condiion. the frets were all totally buzz free aswell, which was quite a surprise. The screws on the bridge and the nut have begun to rust but thats because they need to be fitted turbo tightly which lead to the paint being scrath=ched off but it is a real effort to move that paint anywhere else. The headstock is lovely with the pegs just right, not too stiff to make tuining a chore and not too free to detune it easily. I could play a mad grunge gig with this for an hour and not have to tune it once.

I would happily play this live without a backup, and i have never had to open the back up for anything other than to re-adjust the bridge when i changed string gauges. the hardware is very durable, i have hit various parts of it pretty hard by accident before without any damage or need for adjustment. The one problem with the strap buttons is the placing of the front button. its on an angled edge which means it is fairly prone to coming off but fortunately it hs never happened and lead to me dro[[ing it but i have to be careful.

i've been playing for around 6 years and i've owned a cheap imitation Tanglewood Strat, and a budget BC Rich Warlock so sufficed to say this beats the bollocks off both of them. I only have my Hughes and Kettner amp and my Korg AX1G pedal which work very well. If it were stolen I would either try and get enough money to buy a KH-2 (yum) or try and get a second hand one. Unfortunately i love having different guitars and buying the same one twice would be a wasted oppuirtunity!!! I love most things bout this guitar, once the puickups have been changed i think it will be amazing but until then it's just very very good. I wish it had a set of instructions on just how the floyd rose works as it is often incredibly confusing and very very annoying! But once it is adjusted t your tastes it will be the finest guitar you can but out of ESP's LTD range.

1999 model, made in Korea, 22 frets, 2 EMG-HZ single-coil pickups, 1 volume & 1 tone, Floyd Rose licenced bridge w/ stop tailpiece,...
The Floyd was pretty hard to tune but once I got it right it stayed on forever ! The strap buttons are not reliable at all : changed them for Schaller straplocks.

The pickups are ok, lack a bit of sustain though...
Thinking of changing the bridge pickup for a Di Marzio X2N which is the best pickup ever for METAL !!!
I'm using this guitar with a Park-Marshall G30RCD, nice little amp by the way ! The sound is rich and full w/ extreme distortion at high volume, may be too much bass.
