Sounds like a Gibson Les Paul but extremely lightweight!

A few spots on the upper frets that have some binding blemishes. Only cosmetic. Came set up great!

Rock hard instrument other than the transparent blue finish which scratches and cracks fairly easy.

Had questions recently on the specs and support was slow, unfriendly, and not too helpful.

Excellent instrument. First year Horizon's seem to be a bit more solid than the later H- series. If it was stolen I wouldn't buy again but that goes with anything I own. I like to try new things.
This instrument is available in transparent purple but it is actually pink and uglier than sin. Also available in black but the black finish is bland and poor quality.

if you see in my review for the peavey duel 212 amp the esp horizon and the peavey compliment each other very nicely. ive been using this guitar as my main guitar since day one. the tone is very good for what i play - hardcore, death metal, metal , alternative, jazz, and classical. this guitar has been abused like my others i hadnt used it in a while till i got new pickups seymore in the neck and dimarzios in the neck i dont knwo what models but i could care less the beast is back all the harmonics and the fullness of this guitar. the horizon resonates even better than before and to this day it is my main guitar

Its one of the earlier LTDs. Its basically an Archtop ESP M-II with a tun-o-matic/stop tailpiece. Its got a 3x3 headstock, maple neck, rosewood fretboard with dot inlays, and 22 frets. The body is 100% Ash with a see thru red finish. The pickups are standard ESP pickups in a nice bridge humbucker, and a hum cancelling single coil in the neck position. I switched them to EMGs (81 and S). The electronics come standard as a passive volume and tone with 500k pots, with the EMGs the electronics are active double volume with 250k pots (the EMG pots are crap get All Parts). It came with a case which is convenient.

It sounds great with the EMGs but with the standard ESP pickups the tones are all Blues. I kept them in for about a year while I was learning to play. I was a really big blues fan so the guitar mixed in great with my style. Now I play progressional rock/metal. The ESP pickups couldn't handle all the drive I was putting after them. They would fuzz up and start humming like crazy. The EMGs really blow the ESPs out of the water when it comes to plain, simple, hard core drive. As far as amps I use this with a Marshall JCM 900 dual reverb head and cabinet packaged deal. I use a Steve Vai Morley wah and a Digitech RP-20 and GSP 2112 with this guitar. The digitechs sound great with the EMGs and the EMGs sound really great with the stop tailpiece gibson kind of sound (ever hear Zakk Wylde???). The wah works really well with it to. The sound is most comparable to that of a Les Paul studio lite. It sounds very full like a paul and very crisp like a strat. With the double volume it can do almost anything but losing the tone knob is a huge sacrifice for rhythm playing. With the standard electronics setup this is a near perfect guitar. If I could get it with the EMGs and double volume and tone knob it would be perfect (with the exception of no Floyd).

The factory setup was alright. I had it setup before I took it home from the store so I really can't comment accurately here. The pickups were adjusted perfectly they had just the right amount of cut to them but could mellow out with a simple volume adjustment. They were however not strong enough for metal. The only noticeable flaw was a low nut. The E string buzzes slightly on the first and sometimes second fret which can be a severe pain in the ass for playing clean. The pickup selector is a little loose but it does the job without making a sound.

This guitar easily withstands my live playing and I really abuse the hell out of my gear on stage. The strap buttons were switched to schaller locking buttons just to be safe. The finish is excellent not a chip in 2 years.
