This is a '06 Indonesian made double cutaway guitar with an arched/contoured top. 2 humbuckers, 1 vol, 1 tone, 3 way switch. Has 22 frets on a 25.5" scale. 3+3 headstock with a rosewood fretboard. Black hardware. Tune-O-Matic style bridge.
Pretty electric blue finish.
This guitar is a basic as can be. I wish it had 24 frets. I'd have liked to have a relief on the corner for your forearm. It has kind of a sharp edge there. Not the most comfortable for the right arm.
The Tune-O-Matic makes for a great picking attack as opposed to a recessed Floyd Rose guitar. Having the bridge away from the body is great.
It would have gotten the 10 rating if it had 24 frets and a contour on the corner of the body.

Sounds pretty good for stock pickups. I've heard worse on more expensive guitars.
Would have liked it to have a microswitch for the neck pickup so I could tap into a single coil sound for my clean stuff.
Otherwise, a pretty versatile guitar considering price.
Sounds good playing high gain metal out of the bridge pickup. Sounds good playing classic rock. Sounds good playing fuzzed out stoner rock from the neck pickup. Pretty impressive.
No switch to get single coil tones is a bummer.

The action and finish on this guitar are far above what I would expect. I've seen some pretty poor guitars come from Indonesia. This guitar might as well have been made in Burbank, CA. No issues at all. As a matter of fact, I've seen AMERICAN made guitars with issues. This thing is nice. Frets are finished well, ends rounded, fret-to-fret height is consistent, and the paint has no flaws.
The action was a bit high for my taste. I put the machinists strait edge to it to check the neck before I set it up the way I wanted. It was perfect. Lowered the bridge as low as I could. Intonation was pretty close for an off the shelf guitar.
Wicked fast playing guitar.

Well, this is a Tune-O-Matic guitar. It's such a no frills instrument I high doubt anything would fail. I'd gig it anywhere.
I'd never use anything without a backup, but I would trust it to be my workhorse.

In my experience dealing with ESP (and comparing them to my dealings with Ibanez and Jackson) They would run through a brick wall to get/keep you playing their products.

There is no 9.8 rating. That's what I'd give this. I'll have to round up then.....
Great guitar. Actually my second guitar of this model. Loved the first one so much I had to buy this one too.
Best bang for the buck ever.
Too bad ESP quit making them like this. I have played the new H-51, 201, 1001, etc. They're ugly and not as well made. If you can find an older Horizon, buy it right then and there.

Made in indonesia, 22 jumbo frets (great bending), 3way selector, a tone controll that you can actually here the gradual difference with, and volume controll, H/H pickup config, amazing black finish.
I would give this an 8 for features, but the tone controll was amazing, Ive never seen a guitar before with that much controll.

I use a Line 6 Spider II amp with this, effects include chorus flange, phaser, tremolo, sweep echo, tape echo and reverb, with crunch, metal, and insane distortion; this guitar gives great sound on almost any setting. Some people might find it a bit throaty, but I love it.

This is one amazingly set up guitar. The manufaturer wont sell to any shop that doesnt have a technician on site to go over every guitar as it comes in, this means that all ESP guitars are set up perfectly. The finish is awsome, and all of the tuning pegs are tight. There is one small piece on the head that is a bit lose, but with the great customer support I can bring it into the shop to get it tightened for free anytime. Action is great, a little rattle that doesnt come through from the amp can also be adjusted back at the shop for free.

Great advice and support when buying the guitar and brilliant after-sales support. You can go back to the shop anytime and ask them to go over it for you, all 100% free, no hassle.

This is the best guitar you are going to find for ?250 GBP, and they're rare too. As far as I know, I found one of the only shops in the country (England) that sells ESP's. Shops that sell this make of guitar are rare, so if you find one near you, go for it.

Sounds fantastic , This guitar is not just a kids shredder ax , you can get very nice clean tones from this. Between the angled headstock, hard maple neck, stop tailpiece, xtra jumbo frets and double truss rod , this guitar really sustains and sings. The pups sound full and warm. Because of the maple 25.5 scale bolt on neck , this guitar has some strat like spank , but sustains and sounds full like a paul.

This guitar was set up better than any I have seen . Action and intonation was perfect ,pups adjusted properly , 10 or 11 gauge strings(much better than those ultra slinky things most guitars come with) It had no loose screws which impressed me. Very nice high gloss black finish. Not many guitar makers offer the xtra jumbo frets on most of thier guitars so this is very nice. You can bend strings forever.

I have been playing for years. I use home made telecasters mostly. I bought this because of the price and that it came with xtra jumbo frets. It is a very simple guitar , but it has all one needs . Its a great value for $169 ESP seems to be an interesting company. Many of thier guitars I think are kind of ugly , but there are also some real gems. They also have a form on the back of thier catalog to have a guitar custom made.

This guitar fits my music style very well. I play Hard Rock(TOOL/Deftones/Dredg/APC/) in Drop-D tuning. The 25.5 Inch Neck gives a nice tight sound, unlike shorter necks. I use guitar going through a Peavey 5150 Amp/Randall Cab with Celestion 30's. It has the least feedback I have ever heard from a guitar in this price range(even with the tone all the way up). It has a very flat even sound with creamy protruding lows on the neck and trebly agression on the bridge. The harmonics come out very well and has a great modern rock sound. I love everything about the sound completly.

The setup was excellent from the factory, I know for a fact the techs at ESP are very skilled and give the most detail even to the lower models like this one. Pickup's are leveled perfectly, so are the frets which are very polished and smooth. Bridge setup is good and action is no-buzz and low. The paintjob has no mistakes, the construction is top notch, and electronics look clean. This is very suprising for an Indonesian-made guitar.

From the construction, this guitar seems like it can handle years of abuse and still come out on top. I've played with my band for long hours with out need to re-tune. The hardware seems very solid and dense. The paint is thick black, so it doesn't look like it's gonne being going anywhere. Strap buttons are solid-But I still suggest everyone to go get straplocks(accidents can happen). I would use a gig with a backup guitar always for the sake of peace of mind. But not for the sake of the quality of this guitar.

I have dealt with the middle man and the company itself. The middleman and company both gave me the best service I have ever got. Nothing to repair, but price and accesories were given appreciatively.

I have been play 3-4 Years, I am mainly a Bassist, but I started out on guitar and I'm no newbie to it. This guitar is an absolute 10 for the price and I could not find anything better. If it were stolen or lost-I'd be very mad for losing a great guitar, but it wouldn't break the bank so I'd directly buy another one. My favorite features is the bridge, you can get an very good hi-mid sound when playing very near the bridge. Overall compared with other guitars in this price and higher, it comes out as one of the top's. If I had a signature guitar-it would definitely be this model.
