Features : 9
'04 model with classic spirit varnish and a thin laquer finish.
This model also has the ebony/metal trapeze tailpiece and ebony Schaller(sp?)tuners.
Since this an electric model...it comes with the Kent Arstrong flat HB pup, ebony faced pick guard with a hidden volume control.
Not listed on the website (as far as I could see)...The scale is 25" and comes shipped with nickel wound D'Addario 12's with wound G string. I like to bend alot so I replaced the G with a plain one.
The neck is a pleasently wide enough for easy fingering of chords up and down the neck, and perfect from the end of the fretboard to the bridge for fingerpicking and or using a plectrum.
The deepness of the neck fills my hand comfortably.
However...since these are handmade, each guitar is different. Just find the one that pleases you.
The frets are of the low and wide variety. Makes for effortless slides, and yet (to my suprise) intonates accurately.
The top (X braced), sides and back are all hand carved! No laminates here.
I think you will find all other info covered at the website.

Sound : 10
Every new guitar comes with new tunes.
This one is keeping me very busy!
It likes to be played often and is hard to put down.
Very responsive to EVERY nuance of pick or finger styles.
GREAT projection due to the X braced solid carved top.
Mine is set up with nickel strings (for the pup), however... soon the acoustic strings will be tried as well.
Its projection should get even better.
Swing, big band, and jazz is how this axe is advertised, but I have found that this guitar can do so much more, and do it very well.
Have found nothing to dislike about the tones of this one.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have never bought any axe that did not need at least a little tweaking for my tastes...until this one.
Either it was shipped from the factory this way, or the set-up from the dealer sees things my way.
With capo at 1st fret; string heigth on 12th fret on low E is 3/32".
High E is 3/32"
Neck relief @ 7th fret with D string depressed @15th fret is .006.
I will undoubtedly need to make adjustments when I switch to the bronze 13's.
Being completely hand made you would expect some type of imperfection here or there. And if you look closely enough on mine, yes the is a slight smear of the laquer on its waist. I hesitate to bring this up as it really is so minor that I feel it is of no consequence to me. After all, we too are perfect imperfections.
The quality, fit, finish, tone and beauty of this guitar is without question excellent.
And in this price range, unheard of!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I am not hard on any of my guitars.
A humidifier and hydrometer (ala Hofner) included with the case would have been nice.
I see this one as an heirloom to be passed down through my family.

Customer Support : 10
They have a good forum with Eastmans rep logging on often to answer questions. I feel confident in not only their products (looking into one of their cellos as well) but the company as a whole.

Overall Rating : 10
Been at this for over 40 years and have alot of colors and textures to use, which helps me to create, and to keep me sane.
These guitars are worthy of your time to find and try out.
Eastmans are being compared favorably or better than other higher priced names. Deservedly so in my opinion.
I am looking forward to aquiring more Eastmans in the future.
