I'm circling back after owning this guitar for almost 2 years. I wrote a review then. Seems like many of these reviews are withing a few weeks of buying. I have the walnut color. I love this guitar. The sound is amazing (yes I know and often over used word). Full range of sound. I constantly get compliments on it's look and sound.

I play all types of music. I've used it through a Fender Ultimate Chorus, a VOX AD120VT and my favorite an Epiphone Triggerman 60 DSP. I use it through a BOSS Chorus pedal. Beautiful sound.

Initially I thought the frets were high- but they are not. My personal preference is lower- so I did have the frets brought down- again a personal preference. The pick ups are a Gretsch clone or look that way anyway. The guitar is flawless.

A++. Before I bought it I researched guitars for almost a year. When I called for questions I spoke with the president of the company (I did not know hat when speaking with him). I had an issue then that was immdiatley addressed. Two years later I'm very happy wih my decision.

Been playing for 35 years. Also own a Gibson ES-335, Epiphone Casino, Fender Strat an Aria 9940 (from 1972) and an Epiphone 200. I wish I had had the Bigsby installed- love the Beatle look to this. I would buy another right away if this were ever stolen. May look at the Nashville 12. I love everything about it and have no dislikes at all.
Buy this guitar and you will love it.

This is a very nice sounding guitar. I was looking for an inexpensive 12-string, and after sending an Agile 2500-12 back I bought the Eastwood from Instrument Alley (not a great experience btw.) The sound is open and resonant with a nice bloom, excellent sustain and complex harmonics. The 3 position switch yields a variety of sounds and the variation between the pickups is good. Lots of tones in this guitar and not a bad sound in the bunch. It lacks the woody, heavy and fat sounds available from a good LP 12-string but the bridge pickup brings the chime and sparkle you need to cop the 60's sounds. The neck pickup is warmer but not muddy and I like it for it's somewhat compressed rock sound. Unplugged it has quite a bit of volume, being semi-hollow. It seems pretty feedback resistant although I haven't played it at real high volume levels.

Here's where the $450 price becomes evident. The finish is thick and glossy and consistent enough, with some edge build around the f-holes. There are a few dust specks built in but they are mostly under the cheesy pickguard. The end of the neck next to the neck pickup is un-sanded and very rough with the paint bubbling on it. The 5 ply binding is nice and the maple veneer is well matched but not exactly centered on the body. This is a nitpick only and was not even detectable until I removed the substantial tailpiece and noticed a punch mark on the body where the builder marked its center. There's lots of glue squeezing on the inside of the body but it's clean outside. The holes for the bridge posts (this is a newer model without the PIA floating bridge) are too large and the posts and seats wobble and fall out of the body when the guitar is turned over. In order to keep this from causing intonation problems I had to epoxy them in place. Ordinarily they are pressed in. More troublesome is the fretwork. While the ends are smooth and nicely trimmed they were not leveled and when the action was lowered to a moderately low action, fret buzz became annoying at the 8th, 9th and 24th frets on this guitar. This required a trip to the setup table for a little leveling and crowning operation, a process that would cost someone a few extra bucks if they were not inclined to monkey with their new guitar. The plastic nut is is very tall with deep slots that stick up about 3/32nds above the strings and it's a little narrower than the neck width. But it's not a horrible fit either. The strings were lousy, kind of rusty actually, but that's as to be expected. The volume control for the neck pickup doesn't roll the volume down more that half off. The control wiring was loose in the body, visible through the f-holes and needed to to be tucked into a holder inside the cavity. The bridge pickup was cocked over towards the bridge and could not be adjusted. I had to remove it, tweak the mounting tangs, and after squeezing a little more wire from the body i managed to get it to adjust and sit parallel to the strings. The pickup route was slightly off so there was no wood under one of the screws holding the chrome pickup ring. Lastly it suffers from neck dive bigtime. If I let go of the neck the headstock heads for the floor faster that Bill Clinton's boxer shorts. If I'd bought it directly from Eastwood I might have returned it for another.

Frankly I don't know how tough this guitar is. It seems pretty stout and these thick poly finishes are very durable.

I haven't dealt with Eastwood because I ordered the guitar from Instrument Alley, so this little rant is about them. I ordered the guitar on Aug 14th. I paid $450 including shipping, $100 less that ordering from the Eastwood site. In retrospect the extra bucks might of been worth it. The sale price included a "Basic Setup". I guess that means they set it up on the Fedex shelf for delivery. My online order status immediately went to processing and became unchangeable. The following Wed, when the guitar still hadn't shipped I inquired if it was in stock. The next day I received an email saying it was and was going to ship Thursday of Friday. When it still hadn't shipped by Monday, 9 days after ordering it, I wrote to stop the order because I was leaving town Friday evening and wouldn't be around to meet Fedex. And suddenly, miraculously really, I get a response that includes a tracking number. It showed up poorly packaged in a slightly crushed Eastwood labeled box late Friday afternoon. One of the volume knobs had fallen off and was banging around against the guitar inside the foam. It left a few small scratches on the back of the body. The crummy ordering experience prompted me to fix the problems with this guitar rather that risk even worse problems returning it.

Well there you go. I've sent quite a few guitars back to their maker over the years, so I guess the real story is that despite all of the extra work required to refine this thing I've kept it. I'm not going to sweat the hinkey volume control because it's not worth the trouble. The crappy fretwork and assembly problems are solved. Even the neck dive is worth living with. I feel that if a guitar has the right sound it can be worth the compromises and this thing sounds better the more I play it. That and it's a lot of fun to play. The wide neck is very comfortable, it has a nice look (brass colored pickguard not withstanding)and it sounds much better than the other inexpensive guitars I've tried. I don't know, but if you don't have access to a guitar tech you might want to order direct from Eastwood or play one at a local dealer if you can find one. I think this one would have qualified as defective because of the bridge posts being so loose so at least you don't loose the return shipping.

I play several styles from Blues and Country to Southern Rock and Hard Rock and it has a place in most of what I do. I used it through my Peavey Valve King with no effects except the internal overdrive channel of the amp. Sounds great, not much noise at all. No complaints in the sound dept. It is warm and rich but bright and chimey as expected from a electric 12 string costing much more. It has the Byrds/Petty thing down but what surprised me was how it sounded distorted. I played some hard core Blues/Rock with it and it responded surprisingly well dirty but very clear. You could hear every note. I am very impressed. Sound wise I have no dislikes at all.

I played it as soon as I got it right out of the box and it played good but not great. It could be better with a little tweaking. The pickup adjustment was perfect. Very well balanced. Nicely match flamed top. 5 layer binding on the front looks Killer. The pearloid shark fin fingerboard inlays look awesome kind of a cross between Rickenbacker/Gretsch inlays. Finish has a few small dark blotches on the heal of the neck. You have to look for them but they are visible. Other than that the finish is perfect. The cheap plastic nut really robs from the rest of the great qualities of this guitar. This is my biggest problem with this guitar. The nut is cut too deep and the strings sit too far in it. It also sticks out slightly on both sides of the neck and when playing open chords it is annoying. A 12 saddle bridge wouldn't hurt either. The copperish/gold Mirror pickguard looks great but they should have countersunk the screw on the front better as the screw sticks up above the face of it.The toggle pickup selector was a bit loose but I took care of that easily. A great guitar but again a better job on the nut would make it exceptional.

It is a well made guitar and would definitely hold up to live performance or anything you could put it through. Chrome hardware is very nice and looks very durable. Strap buttons are very solid Fender type. I think this guitar will be among the most dependable guitars I own. Being that it is a 12 string I wouldn't use it as my only guitar to gig with but you never know a classic 6 may be in my future.

I have been playing for 41 years. I own Gibsons, Fenders, Guilds,a Yamaha 12, An Alvarez silver anniversary 12,a Regal resonator, a vintage epiphone rivoli bass, A few that I built my self I am a luthier. Peavey, Crate and Fender amps. If it were stolen I would definitely buy another one. I have had several Electric 12s I had a Rickenbacker 360/12 Which is what I measure all others by. I had a Hagstrom 12, I had a Fender Strat 12, A Danelectro double neck 6/12 and a Schector Diamond 12. Nothing sounded as good as my Ric until I got this Eastwood Classic 12. The sound is really where is it evident that Eastwood did their homework. I love everything about it except the cheesy string nut which will no doubt be replaced on mine. My favorite feature is the overall look and sound of the guitar.

You've read the specs, so i wont re-write them all. This one is a 2007, made in China.
Out of the box this guitar was surprisingly tight. Intonation was great, frets were nicely dressed. All I had to do was tune it up, and It was great. The finsh is pretty nice, better than I expected actually. Bridge is not floating (as in description on website) but it is better now.
the volume knobs seems a bit like a tire on a crooked axel when turning, but they stil work fine. Just not the best quality. But not a big deal really.
No this is not a gretsch, but bang for the buck, i am really happy with every aspect of this guiar out of the box. Also it stays in tune really well, nice tuners. Which rarely happens on a guitar in this price range.

I play 60's style brit pop to 70's rock, and use an old garnet, a marshall Plexi re-issue, and a fender Deville, and the 12 sounds great through all. Very much that 60's chime.
Nice and warm, or bright and chimey, depending on the pick-up/tone settings. responds
especially well with the garnet. Sounds best clean, but a little gain isnt so bad.
Not very noisy at all, i like the fact that it is a semi-hollow body. I find it slightly muddy at times, But that may be the hands, not the guitar, I mainly play a Casino, which has a teent neck on it, so I'm still adjussting to the 12. Its comfortable, just a bit unfamiliar as of yet.

I would play live with this anytime. I always have a back up live regardless of what I am playing. Strap buttons are solid, but some like strap locks, so that up to you. I'd trust these.
Finish is much like a guitar that comes from the eastern world. May chip easier than the more expensive brands, as for fading and wearing... look at the classic fenders that are worth thousands. Faded, and gorgeous... I'm be all for a fade :) but this will stand up well if you treat it right. And guitar will lose lustre if you take it in the rain and wash your eelephant with it.

It was simply NOT setup from the factory. The selector switch was broken off at the retaining nut. The neck pickup was cocked backward and nothing I did with the height screws made a difference. Oh no! This guitar looked great but these were some major issues. I could still grab a little bit of the switch so I figured let's see what this thing sounds like. I liked what I heard so I e-mailed Mike at Eastwood and gave him the scoop. He was apologetic and profeesional. I could either mail the whole thing back or he could send me a new switch and then I could take the guitar to a local luthier and him fix whatever was wrong, (switch, pickup). Send Mike the bill and he would reimburse via PayPal. That's the route I took. The guitar was now fixed. The wood beneath the neck pickup had been poorly routed thereby ruling out a proper seating of the pickup. Oh yeah, the stock nut wasn't good at all. My luthier fixed that for free. A week later I took it back to the luthier and had him set it up with Pyramid Golds. Best move I have ever made on a guitar. Don't even think about it, just get these strings.

This Eastwood really looks classy though. Sounds great too. You will need a Shubb 12 string capo for it. I tried a lot of capoes and this is the one that works.

this is what a 12 string should be for me. i got it out of the box and was able to set it up myself with a few quick adjustments to the bridge and trussrod and i am no repair guy. love the gretch style configuration and floating bridge. 12 strings are usualy a nightmare but i haven't had and tuning or adjustment problems as of yet. i care more about tone and playability, which this guitar has both, but it is also well crafted and beautufully finished.

I received my Eastwood Classic 12 about 2 months ago. The guitar is solid, attractively finished, and appears well made. It's laid out like a Gretsch, so it takes a bit of thinking to use the controls-neck volume on the top bout, bridge volume by the bridge, etc. I did get a case with mine.
Sound
:

I use it to fool around with mostly-play some Byrds tunes, etc. I play through a '65 Showman running half power in a combo cab with a single 15" Eminence. This is a bright sounding rig, and the 12 is a good match. While it lacks some of the sparkle of a Rick 12, it's still plenty complex and jangly. I detect no noise troubles. Sound wise, it would be a great deal at twice the price.

The guitar came out of the box set up pretty well. I do have two complaints. The nut looks to be a precut unit made for a narrower neck-there is a lot of real estate left on the outer edges of the fingerboard. No one would cut a nut from scratch like that. Also, the strings are very light-I haven't settled on a set yet, but I've got some .011's to try.
The bridge is a floating archtop type tune-o-matic. The rosewood base is cut very thin, and the bridge was screwed down as far as it will go. If you would ever need to adjust the action downward, you'd have to install a 335-style studded tune-o-matic. No big deal, but a little more neck angle from the factory would have solved the problem.
My only other concern in minor. When I unboxed the guitar, one of the volume knobs fell off. If it had fallen off in shipping, it could have done much damage to the guitar rattling around in there(they are metal knobs, and quite heavy)
The case is a very tight fit-had to wiggle it some to get it in-just thought I'd mention it.

I have been playing for 28 years. I own 20-30 instruments at any given time with most of them being pro-level. Since I made a new nut for it(an hour after I received it) it has been a pretty sweet guitar. I need to finalize the setup, but I think I'm in it for the long haul. I had a Rick 360-12, which was the finest sounding electric 12 I've ever heard-too bad it was virtually unplayable due to the skinny nut width. These guys are so close-fix the nut and the neck angle and this guitar is an unbelievable deal-it's still great just as it is.

Made in China in 07 I bought it as a Post Guitar Show Demo. 22 frets, bound maple neck, maple top sides and back with a center block of maple in Cherry burst finish.
It's 2+ inches thick at the tailpiece so it has more in common with arch top Gretsches than with Gibsons. It has 2 volume and 1 tone and a three way switch to get bridge neck or both pickups which resemble Gretsch Filtertrons and the wiring appears solid and scratch free. The passive humbucking pu's are very quiet and getting the signature Classic sound is easy just plug in the guitar and go.
The frets were not too high as has been mentioned but they are unevenly placed so that you'll have frets hanging over the binding in some spots but not in others and hung over enough to feel a sharp edge when hands slide along the length. The nut on this guitar was low quality plastic and as some others have noted the string spacing squeezed the bass side strings. So I found a Graph Tech Tusq nut pre slotted for 12 strings designed for the Tacoma Acoustic 12 glued it in using plastic shims to bring up the height using Titebond II glue. Now the action and string spacing are where they should be for a neck this size. The neck has a relatively flat radius say 14 to 16 which might pose a problem if the radius
of the bridge is tighter like a 10 and it has a medium profile C shape. The tuners are non locking Ping Gotoh style well mounted. I bought a case to go with it and the case is worth
the extra dough to keep UPS from trashing the ax in delivery and do a good job keeping the guitar in tune no slipping. Hardware is chrome.

I get a jones for the 65 Fender Electric 12 I had to sell during hard times because of what it could do. This is like a Gretsch 12 only better as it has a center block to reduce feedback at volume. I use it with a 61 Fender Bassman, 63 Twin Amp, 2 DrZ Carmen Ghia heads, Vox AC30 Custom Classic Head and 2 Epiphone Valve Jr heads and even a POD 2.0 It easliy gets the jangle with both the bridge pickup and both pickups combined. My stock home made pedal board from Home Depot has a Fulltone OCD, Carl Martin Compressor, Dunlop Crybaby with hardwired bypass, TC Chorus/Flange pedal and a Carl Martin DeLayla. I use a little of the compression, no wah, no chorus, a little slap back delay. I can get fusion new age style ambient tones straight ahead electric folk roots rock roll treble off and you can do finger style blues and jazz though with jazz might want to switch to flatwounds The
electronics appear to be better than what I would normally expect from an offshore mfctr.
The guitar is a great buy bang for buck and has the resonance to sound good unplugged.
The frustration is that they're 80% to 90% there while makers like Eastman are 100%+. So
there's the hope that the quality will continue to improve and hope they'll have a 12string
tailpiece made for them so I can get one and retrofit
Action, Fit, & Finish

The bridge is an arch top style Tune a Matic with a rosewood bass that is matched to the curve of the top. There are only six saddles with two notches each for the twelve strings but so far have not encountered any intonation issues if the bridge is properly placed. The tailpiece is also made for 6 strings but can accommodate 12. However if you're an old arthritic fart like me you may find it challenging to get the string ball ends to line up so they don't twist around each other and I have had string ball ends pull right through the tailpiece if they weren't aligned when brought to tension. Trying to find an after market gretsch style 12 string tailpiece has been impossible and the standard trapeze tailpieces
are for guitars with a slimmer profile. One option might be to get an after market 12string
tune-a-matic and stop tail and have a pro mount them. Original Gretsches were 24.6" scale and these are 24,3/4" and easier to intonate.
The frets were not too high as has been mentioned but they are unevenly placed so that you'll have frets hanging over the binding in some spots but not in others and hung over enough to feel a sharp edge when hands slide along the length. The nut on this guitar was a low quality plastic and as some others have noted the string spacing squeezed the bass side strings. So I found a Graph Tech Tusq nut pre slotted for 12 strings designed for the Tacoma Acoustic 12 glued it in using plastic shims to bring up the height using Titebond II glue. Now the action and string spacing are where they should be for a neck this size.
The neck pitch angle to the body is a little off which means they have to shave a good part
of the rosewood base down so the bridge will be at the right height: its thin. So putting a
tune a matic bridge with posts and bushings into the top would solve that problem and is
do able as there's a center block of maple to anchor the bushings into. If getting a true 12
string tailpiece made that's good but not expensive is a problem there are many 12 string ToM Bridge and stop tail sets that would improve the intonation and tuning stability and
not detract from the visual vibe of the guitar.
The neck has a relatively flat radius say 14 to 16 which might pose a problem if the radius
of the bridge is tighter like a 10. The neck has a medium profile C shape. The tuners are non locking Ping Gotoh style well mounted and do a good job of keeping it in tune. I bought a case to go with it and the case is worth the extra dough to keep UPS from trashing the ax in delivery. Hardware is chrome.
The paint job is a urethane Cherryburst with yellow in the center blending to red at the edges the sides and back are red and the wood grain can be seen through the finish. The top has a nice bit of flame overall the finish is flawless .

The hardware is heavy duty and equal to the hardware on american made instruments. It will definitely withstand live playing and at this price point produce no paranoia about getting mugged for a vintage guitar by a drunk at open mic night or the weekend bar gig. The pickups produce very good usable tones and are quiet enough for studio work whether in session or at home. I run my pickups wide open to get the full goodies and
vary the volume using an Emmons Pedal Steel Volume pedal. Using the OCD for overdrive
means I'm not driving the amps very hard so if these pickups have microphonic tendency
I haven't found it.
The finish is a polyurethane and it's hard to tell without taking a chip out just how thin or thick it is. I think it leans toward the thinner side as this guitar resonates unplugged and that usually doesn't happen if the poly is gooped on. Strap buttons are solid but I uprade to either extra wide buttons or locking to keep stage studio accidents to a minimum. For me I need an extra long bass guitar strap with a 4" width to be comfortable as while not a boat anchor it has some heft and the extra length enables me to not have the guitar up under my chin when playing standing up.

Been playing music since the 50's and guitar since the 60's. I own LP/335 Tele Strat P Bass PRS Eastwood Delta6 Eastwood Nashville 12 Eastwood Rocket Bass, Martin Acoustic.
Question I ask all the time is why aren't we making good affordable guitars right here?
Won't buy a vintage Gretsch or Ric. Ric necks are too skinny except the 660/12 and its a year and half wait + for a new one also too expensive. Made in Japan Fender Strat 12 is nothing like the original Fender XII and the vintage ones are also now too expensive. I also own a Schecter TSH12 it's neck heavy, not resonant and the Quad Lipstick Pickups have no
Sparkle in Humbucker mode and no volume when split and even though shielded the noise goes up in proportion to the volume coming down.
If stolen I would buy another.

Semi Hollow 335 style Body 12 string. Has the look of a vintage Gretsch Country Gentleman. Made in China. Two humbuckers with 3-way switch. I bought the Walnut finish version- beautiful. I've had it for close to 6 months and still debating to have the frets cut down a bit- note bend still with 11's. Constant comments and compliments on the look and sound of this great guitar. I hope someday I'll have one of the original Eastwoods when they become collectors items!

Rich full 12 string sound. No noise at all. I've been playing it through a BOSS ME-10 and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and experimenting with all the sounds. Incredible.

I initially had a problem with the guitar. The bridge was at it's lowest setting and the neck also. I wanted the strings as low as possible. My local luthier (Bay Fretted on Cape Cod) said he could adjust, but if there was ever a neck problem in the future there'd be no room to adjust. But when I spoke with Peter in the repair dept he immdeiatley put me at ease. The guitars have a lifetime warranty. I shipped back the guitar, a new one promplty arrived and it was set up and perfect since. A 9 only because of the initial problem.

I've had it for about 6 months, played ojut a bit. Mostly jamming with friends. Solid and well built- built like a tank. It's a heavy guitar, not sure of exact weight, so if you're used to a lightweoght hollow body be preparred- and get a good strap. I swapped out the strap buttons for new guiat locks.

When researching this guitar I called to ask some questions. i spoke with "Michael" for about 20 minutes. Very patient and easy patient. I found out later he's the owner of the company. Where can you get that kind of service? Peter in the repair dept is also A+++. I've sent a few emails asking questions and I'm amazed at how prompt and personal they are. The ratings here only allow a 10, but I'd give a 12 if I could.

I'm north of 50 now, been playing since I've been 13. Off and on with various bands and solo. I'm a glorified recreational player- but do play ou now and then. I also own an Epiphone Casino and an Aria 9440 (1972 circa). I'm playing it through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, playing sometimes also with a BOSS ME-10. I love this guitar. I bought the guitar, case and at the time they had a special where I receieved a free compresor pedal.
I researched 12 strings for almost a year before I bought this. You cannot beat the sound and looks for the money. Why pay huge bucks for another better know guitar when you can have this? I would replace this immediatley if lost or stolen.
