This is a killer axe. Period. Gear snobs should not apply because obviously it doesn't carry the carraige names one associates with quality.
However, this axe is a boutique axe if there ever was one. The body style is not so much SG as it is Guild S-100, Guilds version of the SG.
Overall construction is solid, and well executed, the neck joint is superb, this usually being a dead give away of a badly produced guitar.
The humbuckers are hot and sound individually voiced for neck and bridge, but I could be mistaken, I like the retro bigsby tailpeice, a bit of a chore to restring but so so cool.
I have the surf green with chrome or nickel hardware. Frets are medium jumbo and fretting is easy with the semifat neck. I have a/b'ed it against my own S-100 and it is not in the same league but close, after all the other is 30 years old this year.
The finish is good, no blems, smooth and buffs to a high gloss. The tuners, while Grover style are not grovers but do hold tune well and are not cheesy at all, they have some heft and the axe possesses the ultimate SG, S-100 trait, it is headstock heavy and will go south on you if you wear a smooth nylon strap, best to use leather with this one. Standard three way switch, missing is the S-100 double phase switches, but they arn't missed.

I play mostly blues with a bit of hard rock thrown in. This thing through my Hotrod Deluxe with a tube screamer gets Woman tone all day long. It is not noisy and does feed back controlably. It has a rich full sound from the humbuckers and unlike my S-100, doesn't possess the mud quotient of the older axe, it is clear and rich.

Set up was fine from Factory, I do not prefer a very low action so it was just right for me, intonation was good, and pickups were set well with no seams or overly large routs for pickups, in other words, it was tight and fit very well.

While I now only play out occasionally at jams, I wouldn't hesitate to play it and use it extensively if needed, the cool factor is just off the scale with this one. The strap buttons have one thing in favor for them over the S-100, you can change them to strap locks without removing the lower pin as in the Guild, screw them out, screw in the locks, simple.
I would depend on it considering my style of playing is rather sedate, if I was a jumper or mover, I wouldn't hesitate to reinforce my strap and locks, remember, this puppy is headstock heavy.

I have been playing since I was 8, I am 56 now so do the math. I have never bought a guitar sight unseen, however the photos of this thing spoke quality and retro cool. If stolen, I would get another simply to keep my S-100 stored away and playable only in the living room.
I love most of the guitar, I have had to grow the surf green to my tastes and the guitar could really be made with out the tremolo tailpiece to reinforce the sg style.
In the future, add a phase switch, some darker more traditional colors and possibly a model without the trem.
There is nothing I dislike about the guitar and after playing Strats and LP's most of my life, pulling this one out at ajam is like pulling up in a hummer, everyone wants a look.

SG Style
White
2 Humbuckers
Bigsby tremolo
This is one sexy vintage style guitar. My only dislike is the mint green pickgaurd, I would've preferred a creme or black pickgaurd.

This guitar sound pretty great. I have played a lot of guitars and too be honest, I'm not always impressed by the tone of super expensive guitars. To be honest the best tone I've gotten is out of my DeArmond Les Paul copy, the sound is creamy and rich and not too brittle. I think that's the only thing I don't like about the sound out of this guitar. It sounds a little more brittle than I'd like. But it sounds pretty freaking good. I also love the tremolo. The tremolo is too die for and I am amazed at how well it stays in tune. I play this guitar regularly at shows and it sounds great. Oh I play punk rock mostly.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action wasn't exactly the way I like it. I like it super low, nor was it too high though. There were some slight flaws in the finish, but nothing horrible. Overall this guitar is a beauty though. Especially once you take price into account. Everyone always is like 'Whoa sweet guitar!'. It is sweet and it sounds good too.

Yes. I play in a hardcore punk band and trash the hell out of this thing. I've NEVER broken a string and thats with thrashing and lots of use of the tremolo. My bandmate plays an Gibson SG and has a harder time staying in tune and loses more strings. I still bring a backup, but I've never had to use it.

This guitar is great. I really like it. The only thing is I absolutely love my DeArmond. But
this guitar is my second favorite and in terms of style it is everything I could ask for. I may switch out the pickups at some point, but for now they are fine.
Great guitar, great dealer.

New line. Import. Appears each guitar is individually inspected as there is a sticker filled out by an employee. 22 frets, good access to upper register. I believe the body is mahogany. Set neck. 2t 2v and pickup toggle. Pickups are hot, open Humbuckers, probably wound for the line. SG body style. Tuneomatic type bridge, roller. Tuners, non locking sealed. Rosewood board, Gibson type feel on radius. Fret work is nice, nothing sharp. Came with Eastwood bag, and cord. Bigsby style tremolo, appears more solid than on most of the other imports I have played. Stayed in tune well.

Play Blues and Rock, with a harder edge. Just great for what I am doing. Play through a KUSTOM amp and a digitech rp 10. Guitar has a full sound, but still had nice tone on the cleaner settings. Have not found anything on it that I have not liked.

Guitar was set up surprisingly well. I play with the action set real low so i will probably have my tech bring it down a little. Pickups were adjusted fine, right out of the box. I was actually surprised at the finish, nice inlay work on headstock, clean frets, feels solid. Hardware is gold, gorgeous. Pickguard vintage green, great looking peice, I couldn't have built one cooler.

Looks like the guitar would withstand live performances. Hardware looks great, tuners are solid feeling with no slack. Great finish, has painted neck, smooth as glass. Strap buttons appear solid, Should be a dependable workhorse. Other than breaking a string, would see no sense in a backup.

Guitar came from www.myrareguitars.com. This dude has a clue, and keeps his word. Thisw is not the first guitar I have bought from him. Has a huge collection of vintage stuff, and always has some exciting new lines. If I am not mistaken, this is HIS new line, and by the looks of this guitar he had a hand in the design. Checked out the other models, very cool. Repairs are not a problem for me personally, because I have a great guitar tech. Mike has been in business a long time, so i am sure he would honor any warranty work.

I have been playing for over 25 years. At any given time I may have up to 50 guitars in my collection. I buy, sell and trade them. I have never met a guitar I didn't want and i am on a quest to own them all, well, at least play them. I love finding the hidden gems, and this is one of them. Nothing more satisfiying than watching your under $400 guitar hanging with your friends $2000 guitar. They turn that sickly green color HA! All I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised at this one, and it is a great deal for the money. Plays well, looks cool. What more could you ask for ??
