I want to share my opinions on this great guitar without getting too techy. If there are specs you can't find on these pages, just check eastwoodguitars.com. This is a short-scale, retro, somewhat tricky looking guitar that I would place in the mustang, jaguar, duosonic category (with some Flying V thrown in, or maybe an Iceman!) It's not my first or only guitar (I have an Eastwood Stormbird and Eastwood Airline 2 pickup deluxe). I love having three electric guitars so I can cover lots of bases live and for recording. The Eastwood Gemini pretty much nails what I was missing with the other two--lots of pickup configurations, tone switching, a tremolo, short-scale, and bright, rockin' mini-humbuckers. And it all comes in a slickly put together tight package.

The pickups sound great. Bright and punchy. Even though I was ready to rock when I got it, the first thing I used it for was a bright, twangy, bendy finger solo on an indie rock/folky tune. And it sounded awesome!! I was so psyched to have a guitar that cut through like a strat, but with a humbucker warmth. And the short-scale, slippery neck made it super fun to play. Also, there are tone switches above each pickup as well as separate volume and a master tone. They're fun to tweak and it's possible to get some cool tonal combinations other than the basic front or back p/u sounds.

Set-up out of the box was good enough that I haven't yet changed a thing. Pretty low action w/ a set of 10's. Pickups are adjusted just right (I'm not the kind of person who HAS to adjust everything, but I've read reviews from guys who admit they are). Basically, everything seems to be assembled great and everything fits together and looks right to me. I prefer buying guitars (I've owned many over the years) that I don't want to adjust rather than the other way around, and this is one of those. The finish is sweet. I got the taffy white which contrasts well with the bright white pickguard. I love the glossy maple headstock and back of the neck and the rosewood fingerboard has a nice look and feel to it. Feels very good, looks amazing, and sounds great. Done.

After having a few Eastwoods for a while now, I'm convinced that they're reliable and sturdy. I'm pretty gentle with my stuff, but I use my guitars a lot, and I hate gear that only half works. So far, all of my Eastwoods have been 100%. The only fear I have about using the Gemini live is the tremolo/tuning issue. Like any other guitar with a vintage style tremolo there's going to be some uncertainty. This guitar is definitely not problematic, though. It's just the nature of the tremolo beast. I know for a fact it's more stable than a Mustang I used to have. Because of the tuning issue, I might be afraid to have this as my only guitar for a gig if it was a "hurry-up and play 10 songs in 30 minutes and get off the stage" kind of gig.

Eastwood is a great little company with a personal feel and great support. I really dig visiting the website eastwoodguitars.com, and Mike Robinson, the owner, has personally answered my emails. I'm not too concerned about warranties, but I have the feeling that if something goes wrong, Eastwood won't ignore me.

I write and record and play guitar, bass, drums, keys. I love good sounds and tones. The Gemini adds to my crayon box of sounds in a big way and the great look of the guitar is a lot of fun. Regarding the tremolo, not sure if it has the locking button inside the mechanism like a Jaguar (i'm fairly ignorant in that dept.), but would like to figure out how I should work with the tremolo for optimum performance. Of all the wacky style guitars I've ever had or wanted (duosonic, mustang, travelling wilburys gretsch collectible, mid-price reissue iceman) THIS GEMINI IS THE BEST. Totally playable, totally great sounding. And did I say playable? I meant really, really playable. Oh, and check out my stuff at http://www.myspace.com/mathandscience

This is an Eastwood remake of a Wurlitzer Gemini, one of thier three rarely seen guitars which were made in the 60's but did'nt last longer than 3 years. It's like a Fender Jag but more straightforward to the point, meaning not as many switches but it's close. It's definitely a sleeper hard rock guitar. I believe it was made in 2007, Eastwood does'nt plan to release these things full-scale until April of 2009, they only put out about 30 of each color they have availble (taffy white for me, and lollipop red). I bought mine from InstrumentAlley.com for $599 and it came with a free eastwood case which is really snazzy and sturdy. For a chinese made (YEA IT'S CHINESE JUST TAKE THE STICKER OFF) guitar it's playability and construction are pretty solid, the switches are plastic, the tuners are vintage die cast klusons. It's got 22 frets and the short scale neck is skinny and fast, made from maple with a rosewood fretboard. (why do they do that? Why not all maple?) This is really a choice neck for any guitarist with those annoying small hands like me. It's got a good plastic nut, pretty deep set. The finish on my taffy white model is flawless, it's really pretty and creamy-looking. It's got 2 volume knobs both control the pickups. One tone knob, 2 2way switching switches, and a 3 way which is pretty much fatter, fattest, and kind of fat. 2 Minihumbuckers make this thing scream it almost beats normal humbuckers in my opinion. I'll be putting the "Seymourized" mini buckers in soon, but this thing really does'nt need it, I just want a little more clarity. And partly cuz im an as-hole that has to mess with everything I own. The nicely weighted mahogany body does'nt sustain the best but it's still great to me. It's pretty resonant. The body style is what made me buy this thing next to it's features. I really want a Fender Jaguar because I feel like you would'nt need another guitar with that thing, so many features, so many tones, im drooling. But anyway I wanted to try this because It was a lil bit cheaper and it's unique. I have a thing for odd ball stuff. The body shape is kinda like a devil head, or it could be a fish on a stick, or an exploding star, whatever you want if you're paying for it, go to Eastwood Guitars.com for pics. It's really comfortable and petite in the middle, like a woman with its hips popping out past her midesection.
Standard Tune-O-Matic with a Mustang like bridge, with a tremolo system inside of it that can lock, it's kind of interesting really.

This is perfect for any music style just draw your gun and start shooting. I play my own material mostly, which is alternative, hard rock, and blues in a big mixing bowl. I can go from ball breaking hard rocking tones, to smooth crispy blues, to sweet melodies. From full bloody attack to a bright and sharp one. With all these switches I should be able to do that. Does'nt really get noisy, a lil bit with a lot of gain, but it sounds amazing so I don't care. Oh and all of this is with the stock minibuckers. It even sounds good unplugged. I love it. I does'nt make as many different sounds as I thought but it does make the tones so it makes up. I don't really think it's worth 600 dollars, because it could've come with locking tuners, a graphite nut, etc.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It was set up pretty good from instrumentalley, it was kind of tinny sounding in the lower frets but I fixed that. The action is perfect. Honestly perfect. Pickups were adjusted nicely to factory specs. It was in perfect shape when I got it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I would definitely gig with it. I don't have any friends since I broke up with my fiancee and moved back home and I want to start a band, so I could'nt tell you from experience but it's solid. Strap buttons are solid. You could depend on it, but never gig without a backup because you could break a string.

Customer Support : No Opinion
DONT BUY IT FROM INSTRUMENTALLEY.COM! I had so much trouble getting this thing. It took three weeks to ship and it was in stock, and the Owner of the company actually cursed my mother out after she called and told him she would be calling her credit card company because I had been way too long from when I ordered it, I was pissed because I thought the guy stole my money, I had given it to her to use her debit card. Not sure about Eastwood themselves though. I hear their good guys though. Buy it direct from them if you can. The only reason I bought it from instrument alley is because the shipping was free and I got a free case.

I've been playing for 7 months now, teaching myself and I've come pretty far since I stopped playing other peoples songs and started making my own.
I've had five guitars (i only own 3 now)

Kramer Focus VT211S (A definite hard rock machine with so much potential even stock it's amazing. I really believe it;s the best entry guitar ever made, and at only 99 dollars this thing can be upgraded to be a studio recorder.)

Eastwood Gemini of course it;s my new favorite.

Epiphone SG Special, another great entry level guitar, I modded it with a Seymour Pearly Gates pup at the bridge, and a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the neck, that thing is a monster.

Kramer Pacer Reissue, a nice crunch machine Kramer makes hard rocking guitars, period.

ESP AX50 Definitely one of my favorite guitars, The sound was great and the look was mean it was pretty versatile.

If my Gemini was stolen, I;d replace it, it's so unique.
The minihumbucker exceeded my expectations and the neck is the best i've played on so far.
