2002 Eastwood Hornet made in China. Discontinued in 2004? Inspired by the late 60's Coral Hornet (made by Danelectro Corp). Offset body like a Jazzmaster/Jaguar, but thicker and a wee bit larger, basswood I think. Black with a combination of white pearl, black, translucent purple pickguards. Maple neck with a dark stain finish and rosewood fingerboard. 22-frets. 25 1/2" scale length, 1-5/8" wide and fairly thick.
Three single-coil lipstick-tube style pick-ups with a cool crome pickup ring to match. 5-way switch like a strat, with 2-volume and 2-tone control. standard tremelo. generic tuners.

Sound : 8
Pickups have a fairly fat sound for being singles. Decent sustain. You can certainly get a good old fashioned twang out of it. I use a cheap EQ and can get it to sound like a strat, tele or old danolectro. Play through a Traynor YCV20 (tube amp). I might start using it as a slide guitar. You can get a nice dirty sound out of it or maybe tun eit a few steps down with thicker strings...I think it would make a nice baritone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Shipped from the Eastwood company in Canada to the States - Set-up was pretty good. Action is little high, but I like my action VERY low anyway. Finish is great all around. All the parts fit and the guitar stays in tune even after some banging. It is a fairly heavy guitar. I think of it as a lap guitar. Wouldn't want to stand too long with it.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I haven't played out in a long time, but I could see gigging with this guitar no problem (except for the weight issue). Thick neck and heavy boy could take a beating no problem. I wouldn't worry if I didn't have a back-up - unless I started braking strings left and right...

Customer Support : 10
Eastwood is a great company so far. Micheal (the founder/president) loves those old guitars and the new replicas he makes. Email for customer support goes to him. It was a couple years ago, but I talked to him directly before I bought and I got a pretty good deal. My guitar was a demo - but I saw no sign of wear on it when it arrived. 3-year warrenty and 30-day NO QUESTIONS return policy. It arrived packaged very safe. CAn't say enough good thing about Eastwood. Hope they stay this way.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this guitar. I named it. If I lost it, I'd be pretty upset - the model is disontinued.
