These instruments have just recently been manufactured by Eastwood in China. The Specter 6 has a 21 fret bolt on maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The body is solid wood construction I don't know the type of wood. The Specter 6 has 3 single coil pick-ups. one volume, two tone controls and a five way selector switch. It is finished in enamel, it has a Floyd Rose styled tremolo and an adjustable roller bridge. My Specter 6 came with a gig bag.

I find this guitar is great for our style of music which is old rock&roll and country. I use a Fender amp with virtually no effects. The Specter 6 has very nice tonal qualities throughout the pick-up settings. It has very low level of noise.

This guitar came set up from the factory and needed no additional set up exccept for the intonation. The guitar has super fit and finish.

This is a 2003 Eastwood specter 6 in Black. I believe it was made somewhere in Asia? It's got 21 frets (I think? That sounds right. It's in another room) and is a really stylish copy of the old Vox Phantom... then again, maybe 'copy' is too generic a word to use here. 'Homage' might work a little more accuratly. Three single coils with a 5-way selector, and a very nice Bigsby trem that you'd certainly expect to pay more for. I haven't had the guitar all that long, but i'm throughly impressed with the features so far. Came with a gig bag, cable and allan key which was very nice.

I play all sorts of stuff, from jazz to shoegazing, metal to indiepop. This guitar has a 'fender-esque' tone, but the 5-way switch and two tone knobs allow a lot of variation in this area. It certainly has a nice vintage sort of a sound, but it seems perfectly capable of suiting most styles (maybe not jazz, but that's not what I bought it for.) Doesnt seem to add that much noise to my setup, which involves a TS9, Turbo Rat, RV-3 reverb and a cheap old DOD Chorus into a Polytone Taurusbrain head with a 4x12 cabinet. Maybe a tiny little hum, but not enough to be noticible. One thing I noticed was that this guitar works differently with my distortion units than my old guitar (an awful Ibanez.) The turbo rat now sounds very nasty and gritty (in a good way, mind you - almost big muffy) and I had to boost the drive on the TS9 to get a really distinct difference. It all sounds great, though.

Guitar came to me very well set up. Nothing to complain about. The action was well set up for what I play - not too high or low. Considering that the guitar came from Ontario, Canada to Brisbane, Australia, I was pleasantly surprised to find no shipping damage whatsoever.

Seems very durable. I'm taking a point off simply because I haven't had the guitar long enough to offer a long term opinion. However, it is very well made, and I'd gig without a backup. (as much as I'd like a backup, the term "poor student" comes in to effect here...)

Haven't had cause yet to deal with Mike in this manner, but he was really helpful when it came to buying the guitar, and getting it to me. 5 days for nearly half way around the world is very, very good

Fantastic. This guitar would still be a good deal at twice the price (though I probably wouldn't own one..) I can see myself buying another Eastwood in the future. With original Vox Phantoms going for $1,000 US or more, you really couldn't hope for a better deal. Like I said, this is more a homage than a copy. It is not a cheap knockoff, but rather an Authentic reproduction. The guy below who tried to label this a "cheap guitar" was being a bit harsh in my mind. This could hold its own next to, say, a mex strat. Certainly the best thing i've played/owned in its price range. And on top of that, it just looks so damn sexy =). If you're uncertain about buying one without playing it beforehand (as I was), that's fair enough, but you won't regret getting one.

This is a brand new Eastwood Specter 6...It's a copy of the old Vox Phantom with a Bigsby style tailpiece. It's got a Basswood body...(very nicely contoured), maple neck, and Rosewood board. The pickups and controls are very much Strat-like...Basically like the original. The finish on this one is white.. I understand you can also get them in red or black.

So far I've played it through a Mesa Boogie Nomad 45 and a Tech 21/10.
It's got a very nice tonal range..and the pickups are much nicer than I had expected for the money. I wouldn't use this guitar for any solo jazz gigs but..I've gigged with it in rock & blues bands and it sounds great cranked up through the mesa boogie. Very glassy tone with balls.

Okay...Hear is where I was most pleasantly surprised. I bought this guitar as kind of a cheap..knock around...bang-em up..beer spillin..cigarette burning...bring to bars and not worry about axe. I was very much impressed by the quality of this guitar for the money. The neck is really nice. Very well shaped with a nice satin finish. The fret work is much better than was expected, and the hardware also exceeded my expectations. The Bigsby style tailpice is super well made..and the roller bridge keeps it in tune much better than my old Gretsch guitars with an original Bigsby. Don't try any dive-bombing..but you can get a very sweet chord shimmer with it.

I've only had this guitar for a week and have gigged with it twice so far. I never gig without a backup (you shouldn't either) But really don't think I'd need it...Except if I wanted a more Gibson-esque tone.
As stated before..it's a very well made guitar.

Mike at "My rare guitars" is one of the nicest dealers I've had the pleasure to deal with so far...and I've bought a ton of guitars over the last thirty or so odd years..from a lot of different dealers. He seems very well schooled in guitardom and passionate about what he does

I've been playing for over thirty years..and have owned just about every type of guitar you can find. I must admit I'm very much a Vintage snob (Yes..they do sound better) But for the money..This guitar is very hard to beat..I'll stress again..for the money. It's not a Masterbuilt Strat by any stretch of the imagination but...I also didn't pay three grand for it!! Geez!!! it was under $400.00!!! Before this guitar I thought that the Jimmie Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat was the best value in the "Kind-O-Cheapie" guitar arena, but I think I have to crown this guitar the new champ...and it's almost $200.00 cheaper..Take what you saved and buy a tech 21..You can be the Groove king of your block for less than $500.00... If they come out with a teardrop version.. I'd snag one up in a minute!!
