The Eastwood High Flyer is modeled after the Univox Hi Flyer which was a copy of the Mosrite Ventures model. It is made of basswood and has a thin neck. I am not sure of the neck radius. It has a rosewood fretboard which is easy to play up and down the neck. It is a solidbody guitar. It has a vibrato tailpiece.

The pickups are modeled after the Gibson P 90's. I like the sound that I get. It has a nice mid range and bass tones. It could use some more treble bite. I play through a Vox Valvetronic amp. I use a few effects such as reverb, compression and fuzz. In overdrive the pickups break up nicely and you get a solid crunch.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Right out of the box I was impressed with the quality of guitar. For $400.00 it is hard to find something comparable. It has a nice finish, no orange peel effect, glue marks and the frets are dressed nicely. The neck action is great. It is very easy to play. The vibrato unit is pretty cheaply made, and I wonder if it would hold up to heavy Hendrix style useage.

For the price, I am sure Eastwood doesn't use the best parts available. I am sure that they may wear out and you might have to replace things like the tuners and vibrato unit. The finish is uniformly applied.I replaced the wstrap buttons with Dunop locking straps buttons.

I have spoken with Mike, the owner of Eastwood guitars. He seem like a forthright person. I like the policy that if you don't like the guitar you can return it for a refund.

This is the second Eastwood I have bought. It is not for a true collector. I do not see this guitar going up in value in 20 years. It is a utilitarian guitar and is an excellent value for the money. I am considering buying one more Eastwood.
