Features : 10
This was a custom mockingbird that was supposed to be completed in 6 months, after 10 months they sstill hadn't even started work on it.
AAA Quilted Maple Top, Floyd, Gotoh tuners, thin neck.
24 frets, 3 way seletor toggle and 1 volume, 1 tone
Double Humbucker, EMG 81 in bridge and 85 in neck
Maple body, neck-thru, and ebony finderboard.
Full white binding on body, neck, and headstock.
I am only giving this a 10 because I chose all of these features.

Sound : No Opinion
Pretty much used for rock and metal.
I am running a boss GT-8 through a fender power amp and 2 hartke 4X12 cabs w/ celestions.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Guitar contained the biggest flaw of all, my name mispelled on the inlay.
I ordered this guitar as a custom build with a 6 month completion time, and the biggest custom part about this guitar that I wanted was my last name in abalone as an inlay that would be in the middle of the fretboard.
When I received the drawing of the artwork 10 months later, I saw that my name had been misspelled.

Reliability/Durability : 1
The guitar, if completed, probably would have held up since unbeknownst to me it was actually being built by the B.C. Rich factory, not by Ed Roman.
If he would have told me that in the 1st place, I would have just gone directly to B.C. Rich instead of wasting 10 months with this moron.

Ed Roman is a decent guy to work with when you are placing an order and giving him money, but any other time, he is the biggest prick in the world.
He repeatedly told me that he would not give me my money back when I told him I wanted a refund, and he actually told me that the only way he would even continue to work on the guitar would be if I gave him more money!

This was a nightmare of an experience. At month 4 and on, I was calling Alan Dreher for an update once a month and getting the runaround every time. Finally, in August, I demanded to see something of the guitar, a picture, anything to show me what has been done so far. Alan finally sent me back a drawing of my inlay artwork, and my name was mispelled. I was so furious that I waited 10 months for that, so I demanded my deposit back.
This began a long chain of e-mails and phone calls to Ed that got nowhere, so I sued them in small claims court in Las Vegas.
I won the case, and got my money back.
Overall, though, I had a year and 4 months wasted and all I got was my original deposit back that I had to travel to Vegas to get.
I immediately ordered the same guitar with a few upgrades from Lee Garver at GMW, and it was cheaper, and now 5 months later it is just about completed.
My advice- don't ever do business with Ed Roman guitars, he'll rip you off!

I just received my guitar 2 weeks ago after waiting 7 months ( i was told it would take 3 months)
I had a really cool Warmoth les paul style neck that was my cousin's from years ago....real nice unfinished. well oiled maple....i wanted ed to attatch that neck to the body, and he said it wouldnt fit! i was sure it would, so i mailed it to him. he said he tried, and it didnt fit, so i had to buy a full package.ok fine, but i wanted my neck back. he said "IT WAS MISPLACED"!!!! but he'd give me a "discount" off the total......$50!!!!!!!!!!
so i got a 24 fret bc rich neck, totally uninspiring. S/H passive duncan pickups, which i had to adjust;alder mockingbird body; floyd trem; gotohs; ordered METALLIC BLACK FINISH-GOT PLAIN BLACK FINISH!!!!!!!good thing this was paid for on my dad's credit card-we will dispute this sale for sure

Sound : 4
the sound is ok, but not worth the price tag, i really feel like the body was that of a plain old "guitar center" bc rich. the duncans sound ok, but inhibited by the crappy body. i could have gotten the same thing for $350!!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
the guitar looks and sounds no better than a bronze or platinum series you can buy at guitar center!!!!!! i am sure the body was just lying around....who knows, it may even be a bronze body and neck.
A LOT of buzz around the 10-12th frets; and the old style bc rich volume knobs (the ones with the white line indicator) were misaligned....I almost wonder if this was intentional.
I also had to totally adjust the pickups.

Reliability/Durability : 2
this guitar is a piece of crap, not worth $2oo. will it hold up? sure, about as well as a bronze series guitar! this is an insult to any buyer.....

ed roman was a rude bastard EVERY SINGLE TIME we spoke...he treated me like i was a moron about the warmoth neck, and i feel he copped it from me as well...."MISPLACED"?????????? he was rude to my father as well. quick to take money though! avoid this scumbag at all costs!

I am 18 and have been playing since i was 11. i have a great gothic explorer and a platinum ironbird, but i wanted something custom made. I play straight through a Crate Blue Voodoo, and use a Boss dig. delay ped. i wish i had turned to gmw! if this guitar was $3oo, i would say fine! but this guitar DOES NOT HAVE THE LOOK/FEEL of a custom job, EVEN if i just wanted a kind of plain m'bird. yeah, i wanted duncans and a floyd, but i also wanted it to be "mine", not off a sale floor.
