Guitar should represent a 50s Les Paul goldtop with p90s. It's got one piece mahogany body and neck, top is solid maple, I have no clue about the lacquer, don't think it's nitro. Bridge is a standard Tune-O-Matic/Stop taipiece with vintage green type tuners (I can't identify the brand). 24.75 inch scale, 22 frets, all standard les paul features.

Two pickups are Seymour Duncan SP90-1.

Construction is a set neck, deep neck joint, long tenon. Neck has a C shape profile and is quite thick (50s style I guess).

Finishing is really nice, binding too, fret job is great, goldtop looks like it should look, and no complaints about that here.

Guitar is from 2000s, I don't know the actual year, came with a gigbag and a little flashlight as a gift.

It's a Les Paul guitar, what should I say?

ps: it's got a bone nut

Sound : 10
Seymour P90s interact with the guitar very nicely, it's powerful in the lowmid, it's not trebly and it really doesn't lacks lows! Mahogany does the work here! Sounded great with strings that came with it, but I replaced them with 13-56 since I tune to dropped C# constantly. Neck copes with the higher tensions, no prob, and the guitar sound excellent downtuned too. I would say it's full sounding for sure, comes out in a band mix really nice. The pickup itself features all P90 plus and minuses, from great dynamics to hum that is known for P90 pickups. Those are alnico pickups, voiced for less output. Compared to like, dimarzio air zone, they have less output, but they are fuller sounding so I see no point in comparing the output level to anything. Does it sound good? No? It's sounds great!

I play heavier music, use variety of amps, mostly diy 50 watter orange clone into a 2x12" or 4x12" cab with some fuzz face type pedal. If you want to hear how this type of guitar sounds in a downtuned enviroment, check out early Black Sabbath or even better, Goatsnake (guitarist uses a lp goldtop with p90), you can get very close to Goatsnake sounds with this thing - of course amp is important, the player, the humidity, the monthly cycle of the manufacturer's wife, etc etc ;)

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
The guitar was set up fine, I don't really care about that. I have not changed the pickup height, it sounds right to me, so why tweak anything?

No complaints on the bridge or tuners, they do the job and the guitar stays in tune.

Flaws? the pickguard could have been cut out a bit better, but I don't really mind. Between the neck pickup and the fretboard, there is some dirt from the glue, but who would notice that?

I'm going to give this category a no answer, since I don't believe in factory setup and I don't really use standard gauge strings and downtune, so I always need to set up the guitar by myself.

Nothin' wrong with their setup, it's great for 9-42 in standard tuning.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I see no problem with this guitar to stand live playing, hardware seems very solid, don't really care about the finish, if it wears off, it wears off, just like on any other guitar. Strap buttons are solid.

Gig without a backup? I don't believe in other guitars hehe

Bought it from Katana guitars (http://www.katanaguitars.com), used paypal for paying. Payed on monday morning, they shipped it on tuesday, picked it up on friday morning. How's that for fast!!

Nasu Takahiro from Katanguitars was very helpful and responded to my emails in a very short time.

I'm from Croatia, and the guitar arrived from Japan in 3 or 4 days - respect for that!

I've been playing for 9 years or so, I use my own diy orange amp with different cabs, sometimes sunn amps, for years.

If it were stolen I would find it in no time, since I don't if anyone in my country has an Edwards ;) But I would buy it again, for sure.

My favorite feature is the sound, it just smokes, I don't even want to play humbucker equipped guitars, actually, I don't care about other guitars, this is what I needed!

Comparison? Huh, though one! I have not tried Epiphone Elitist, but other Epi's just don't come close - this guitar has better wood, finish, hardware and not to forget seymour duncans that come stock on every Edwards. Gibson Les Paul studio? Well, if you're a purist - you can never compare anything to Gibson, as far a playability, this guitar plays no different than any other Gibson Les Paul with a thick neck. Since it's got P90's it's not really okay to compare it to the humbucker LP's. Time will tell about the tuners and the bridge.

Only real comparison would be an actual Gibson Goldtop with P90s, but I cannot compare these two, since I have not played it.

You can get this guitar on ebay from around 700$ to 900$ with shipping - you ask if it's worth this penny? It is - a much more, you can sit down and look for flaws, and you could find some, but for this value this thing delivers Les Paul features with excellent sound.

You want a guitar that sounds like a Les Paul, plays like a one and looks like? Buy it - you won't regret it, look at the reviews on other Edwards LP's with humbuckers - many folks think alike!
