I got the Black Custom with the aged yellow bindings...chunky neck, NOT baseball bat thick...came with a gigbag...made in Japan...Pretty much the same type of wood as you'd see in a LP, but long neck tenon(unlike Les Paul studios, classics, and standards)...2 seymour duncans...a '59 and JB, I believe.

I play rock n roll kinda stuff, from late 80s to early 2000's. Right now I play the Edwards through a Boss TU-2(tuner), Ibanez TS9, then finally through a Boss NS2(Noise supressor) and then into my Vox Valvetronix AD30VT.
I haven't found the guitar to be noisy; in fact, it seems to be quieter and tamer than my Gibson Les Paul Classic and Studio. However, they are running Gibson's hottest pickups; the ceramics...
The sound is pretty meaty and thick, not brittle at all. I attribute it more to the pickups than the guitar itself, however. I can tell you that unplugged, it is pretty resonant, very similar to my LPs....But next to the LPs, I can say it doesn't have as much "fuzz" around the actual note...dunno if that is a good or bad thing. I guess you could say it doesn't sound as raunchy as the LP, more "sophisticated" and "smooth"...*shrug*
Surprisngly, the cleans sound really nice. I can say that the Edwards sounds better than my LPs clean. Then again, that could be due to pickup selection...
One thing I notice is that it's a bit harder for me to pull out pinch harmonics on the Edwards...pinches that come out effortlessly on my LPs do not want to come out on the Edwards...I think the Edwards might just have a different "sweet spot" than my LPs...

When I got this guy, everything was in order...Right out the box/gigbag, it had the absolute lowest action I've every seen/tried...WITHOUT buzzing. Too bad I like a higher action...Intonation seemed ok(went by ear) and everything looked nice. If you want to nitpick, I did notice that the binding paint also went along the nut...but otherwise, it looked solid.

I've played it out a few times, for church, so it's not like it's getting hammered or getting beers thrown on it...;) But it does seem pretty tough, I don't forsee any problems with it.
The nitro top does seem pretty thin...I can see my arm sweat/rub start to get into the paint in a few years...but I bought this guy to play...;) and some wear on this guy make might it look better(I have the aged binding one)
I'd say this guitar is pretty solid. I'd be more worried about string breakage over something else breaking on me during a performance...

I got this off of ebay new, but through a seller, so there isn't any warranty, support, etc...

I started playing in 1992, but have really been off an on till about 3 years ago...Besides this Edwards, I have a Gibson Les Paul Classic, Gibson Les Paul Studio, Fender Strat, and a Martin Acoustic.
If this was stolen or lost, I think I would rather use the money for another real LP, even if it wasn't a custom(think used Studio, close to the same price)...Cause even though it sounds good, to me, it doesn't quite have the same "mojo" to me. I guess part of it is mental; If I feel good about what I'm playing, I usually play better and am willing to take more risks...Also, in terms of investment, the Edwards probably won't appreciate as much as a true Gibson...
...But don't get me wrong, it's in NO WAY a bad guitar. I think if you really want the look of a custom, but don't have the money, this could be a good choice.
The two things that bother me is that to me, the frets seem smaller than my LPs. That and the neck is a bit chunkier than my 60's style necks. It's easily playble, but I feel like I have more control with a thinner neck...
I bought this guy on Ebay, I had to rely on pics and the reviews of others...
