El Maya Stratocaster Copy

This is a standard sunburst strat, maple fretboard, with 70's style large headstock. On the headstock it says "El Maya Artist".Picked it up recently on ebay Canada for C$350

It sounds like you'd expect a strat to sound. It's perhaps a little deader than other strats I've played - I put that down to the weight (about 4 1/2 kilos!!). The stock pickups are OK but they're usually the weak point on these guitars, so I'll be rippin' 'em out and stickin' Duncans or summin' else in.

Finish is excellent. Don't really like the sunburst - too garish for me, but what the hell. Action is unbelievably high - we're talkin' Empire F---in' State Building here! Took it to my guitar tech an' he says they ain't nutt'n we can do 'bout dat! When I heard "warped and twisted" I thought he's talkin' 'bout me, but then he shows me the neck an' I thinks my bottom is goin' to explode, I'm that angry munn. I've been having a very lot Maya gitars in the past time an' they is always good necks and hactions. I thought they was better than Fender and Gibsun - but know i now there in the same Leeg, cause these cumpanese makes shit gitars to!!

Apart from the warpin' neck, reliability is guud. Durability is depends on what you are doing with thees gitar. I plays hard an' heavy and I sweat like a f---in' pig, man. So I guess only time will have the ansafone to dat one, yeah! I did notice some blood on the base of the neck - look like dem Canada guy bin cullin' seals wid dees gitar. If it take dat an' still not brake, I shore it last four evva!

I need support, but not this gitar, man.

I be play gitar four nearly six months now. Like i do say, before I has lot Maya gitar an' they is goud gitar. This one not reely god, no, no, not reely good gitar. I put maya gitar in Boogie dual rectum, some time widd a litte Lube Screamer. Sound OK, but not good, no, not so really guod. I sell it soon on ebay, tell sum mugg it Ibanese gitar, get lot munny!
