Built assumably in the late 60's or early 70's in Japan as I received it as a present from my parents in 1978 and by then it was bought second-hand in a pawn shop for about 250 South African Rand.
It has a 22 fret layout with rosewood, bounded and pearl inlay, all in all an exact replica of a cherry Gibson SG. during the years I've changed the pickups to Seymour Duncan in the Bridge and DiMarzio in the neck positions, whilst still retaining the originals. It also underwent major surgery concerning the Bigsby type tremolo which I had removed because of the unstable tuning caused by the same.

As I go for the now so called Classic Rock and Rythm & Blues it's an absolute beauty to play. Mostly I put her through the classic Line-Up Marshall Lead Stack , at the Moment a JCM2000 DSL100, and an original Ibanez TS-808 which I own since 1982 for the occasional spice.
The sound goes from solid clean to an absolute roar when put to the test.

The action of the guitar is ... load and fast, beastly brutal!
The pickups were replaced by Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio's that definitely siut my playing style.
Overall a fast playable allrounder, in a mahagony setneck cherry outfit.

This Guitar was and still is an extremely reliable companion and although it's been on the raod in the 80's till mid 90's taking some serious torture at times I've never had the impression of any loss of sparkle, the finish and hardware is still in absolute mint condition and everything is still in place.

I now own the guitar for 29 Years next to more than a dozen other fine pieces but there is always this mythe about the first love which obviously goes for this instrument too. I own Fenders, Gibsons, PRS, Ibanez, Yamaha and Ovation all a clas of their own but it will always be my ElMaya SG.
Uncomparable and unknown to the most!
