This is an ES-335 El Degas from the late 70's but since there's no manufacturer sticker, it's hard to tell. The layout is dead-bang 335 with a beautiful sunburst top that looks perfect, the tune-o-matic and volume/tone for each pick-up. What's different is the the phase splitter which takes the DiMarzio humbuckers to a single phase for a nice thin sound, I use that a lot. This one has gold Grovers, white DiMarzio's and chrome tune-o-matic. The neck is rosewood with trapezoid pearl insets and a white binding. It's a set neck and perfect. It weighs a ton, I like that cause it feels more substantial and solid, likely mahogony neck through. I compared it to a Gibson and found that the inside bindings were just glued, not braced but it has the neck through none the less.I've had this one about ten years and generally take care of my instruments so there's few bangs or dings and only one cigarette burn which you can hardly see.Since it has the bucker-splitter, I've got to give it a good rating.

Now I play (lately) cover rock, this one has lot's of get up get-you-there. Lots of the big twin coil sound and the neck pickup can smoke out my amp any time. Feedback and the light bulbs rattle. It's not quite up to the Strat sound I use on surf redux but does give some interesting bite on Stones and Kinks.I find I use it a lot for my main axe where I can do most things well. I use a Start for surf and crazy lead and my LP Standard for the rest (BTO) but all round, I love this El Degas.

Perfect neck, solid, great finish, got to look twice to see it's not you-know-what. Since my pickup splitter went south recently, I just have the twin coil sound which is fine. Since I only paid $300 for it, I'm not sure I want to invest dollars here. But it's so neat, I probably will get the electrical checked out.

I've used this guitar as my main gig machine (since it does everything so well) but recently use a Strat and LP more often. It will probably be my main at home or practice machine.

I bought this one cause I only could afford $300 at the time. Now that I've got LP's and Strats, it's still in my top three. And I use it every day. A guy wanted to swap me my georgeous wine red LP in mint shape for a 335 Gibson. I checked it out and realized, I don't need one. This El Degas does the job just fine. I've never seen another one ( I may have the only one) but they're probably out there. I wish they had jpg here so everyone could see what I'm scratching around about. Would I buy it again? Lately I'm looking at boxes like Gibson 346 and other expensive toys. I probably wouldn't look in the knock-off bin. Glad I have it though. Would I sell it? Everything's for sale!!
