The tag in my Degas says F-204 made in December 1973. No indacation where made. I got it from Monti's Music in Maywood, IL. in prob 1974 or 75. It has solid top and back. I don't know how to tell what kind of wood it is. Was this a copy of a Martin or Gibson?

Sound : 10
Sounds great. Hasn't been used much in the last 30 years. Sounds rich and full.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action is good maybe excellent because I can play it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
A good guitar player should be able to use this on stage. It looks nearly perfect, but it hasn't been used much.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
After 30 years, I'm going to bring it around to shops and test it against other brands. I've been very happy with it. It may be hard to find a similar sounding guitar without spending a lot of money.

It's a flat top acoustic guitar.....came with a crappy case. made in the 70's, in either Japan or perhaps Brazil, because there was this "Made in Brazil" card inside the guitar at one time. Who knows....

Sound : 10
I've been looking for another guitar, as I was given this one from my dad- who bought it used from a friend in the 70's. Gibson, Takamine, Martin....it's right up there in my opinion.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
-Tuning Pegs need repair/replacement
-Myriad surface dings, dents, scratches- just from being knocked around.
-I don't know about the woods used
-Very stiff action on mine, and a little buzzy here and there..
-The bridge is pulled up from age, nothing that can't be fixed.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Considering the amount of abuse over the years, durability is awesome.

El Degas? Who?

Overall Rating : 10
Guitar is irreplacable- they just don't make 'em like they used to without paying several hundred bucks.

It sounds great and as I am looking at other guitars the Degas sound is hard to beat. I'm looking at Martins, Gibsons etc.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action is less than I would like but the Finish and fit is wonderful

Reliability/Durability : 9
This Guitar has been around the world with me in locations from heavy humidity & salt to the Arctic up in Greenland. It never once has disapointed me.Other than where it's worn on the neck from playing, it looks like new.

Customer Support : No Opinion
What support? I don't know where it was made or who made it. I've never been able to find the manufacturer. If anyone knows please let me know.

Overall Rating : 10
It is a fantastic value though I've never seen another.

Manufactured: August 1974 in Japan. Solid spruce top, mahogany sides, rosewood neck, acoustic dreadnaught, covered chrome tuners. Pick-up added a few years after purchase.

Sound : 9
Rich vibrant resonance due to solid woods and good pickup. Using DOD acoustic effects unit through PA.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
When purchased, guitar was best playing & sounding in store. No flaws when purchased.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Have used guitar for almost 30 years. Frets have been replaced twice, rosewood neck has been sanded smooth once, bridge has been redone & body behind bridge has been leveled due to warping from bridge pressure. This is due to the age of the guitar, but all in all this has been an excellent guitar and has stood the strains of the road. High durability!!

Have never seen or heard of another El Degas guitar before, but very pleased with the manufacture of it.

Overall Rating : 10
Guitar was a very good investment. Now am starting to break strings at bridge and finish is showing age with some cracks. No regrets but due to age, am looking at something else to use that will last as long as this one has .
