This model of El Degas is accually a Guild copy from the early 70's Sorry can't remember the model # but it's bang on. It was my first guitar 31 years ago and still my main player dispite good company. I believe the head stock is covered in some kind of porcelean. Lots of inlay which has helped keep the fret board alive and gold hardware. Not sure if it came with the bone nut and saddle but it has them now. A great way to make a chaep guitar sound way better. Mind you for the year this one wasn't that cheap. Over 300CDN with a case.

I've played almost every style of music on it and it was there for all of them. Great tone. If anything I would want a little more bottom end out of it and more volume. With new strings this isn't an issue but it really needs them to be full appreciated. I have been drowned out but by Guitars worth 10 times the Degas. Other than stepping into big money it's a strong performer

Playability is where this one shines. The odd neck adjustment and fret board cleaning and it's good as new. A real easy player. Slim neck, low action with no buzz. matter.

Mine has been on stage to many times to count. I've woke up in the morning at a camp sight more than once covered in dew with the El Degas right next to me "back in the day" I've done almost every don't with this thing and other than some battle scars (bothe of us) no major issues. I haven't replaced anything on thid guitar but the string pins. I only did that once because I user brass. Which I would recommend to anyone. I think it came with the bone nut but I could be wrong? If your giging always have a back up no matter what your playing....

I've been playing 32 years. I lucked out with this one because they did make some real junk(mostly there electrics). If it were stolen there would be no replacing it. It would take a way pricier guitar to match it's performance and the sentimental value of coarse isn't there. At the time Yamaha had a good line of low enders as did a few other knock off companies but the El Degas was prittier and shiner than them and at 13 it's what counts the most. The pick up I put in it sucks and will be replaced but thats it other than I wish I'd have treated it better.

My GL36 is an acoustic steel string guitar. It was purchased for me new as a gift in the 1970's. I do not know what year or where it was made. It has a beautiful wood grain and mother of pearl inlay all along the neck between the frets. It also has a thin line of pearl inlaid on the back. From what I remember, it was made as a replica of the Gibson Hummingbird guitar and it does look very similar.

To this day it has a wonderful rich sound. We also have an Ovation and a Fender acoustics and believe it or not, hands-down this is my favourite guitar. The others just do not have the rich sound that this baby.

The action is great. It is very smooth and easy to play, even higher up the neck. The finish is flawless and it has kept very well over the years, with very little care.

I haven't had any problems with this guitar for the 20 some odd years I've owned it. It has had many years of playing time, at home and at parties. It's very rugged and dependable. The finish doesn't show any signs of wear at all.

Fantastic.
If it were lost or stolen, I'd try to replace it but I doubt I could find an exact replacement. It really is irreplaceable.
Everyone who plays it, loves it. It is a much easier guitar to play than the Fender and Ovation acoustics we own.

My GL-36 is a steel string acoustic. I don't have a clue where or when this puppy was made. I traded it fot a tank of propane with my landlord when I was living in Vancouver. A guy in a music store in Vancouver told these guitars where produced between the 70's and 80's. I might as well beleive him cause it doesn't look young. It's a solid top and has beautiful inlay. I brought with me back to Holland and still play it everyday.

I play it in a country band (which is pretty unique in Holland) and it suits the sound just perfect. It's a warm strong sound with a lot of balls. For what I use it for I wouldn't wanna trade it for a Martin, for the money I would though.

This guitar looks just great. In Holland you have to pay a lot of stinkin' Euro's to get a guitar finished like this. I love it.

I dropped it once and had the neck broken.. bummer. But I got it fixed pretty god. The pick guard is coming loose in the middle. But what could you expect... this guitar is probably something like 25 years old.

Like said in other reviews this company is a ghost and I wish I could learn a little more about this puppy. So anybody who has some info... let me know.
