This is another Cherry Flame (presumably '73) LP replica. Actually I'm surprised to find a review here since these aren't even listed on "the Electra page." I've heard that these are pretty rare, especially the ones with the red necks. That's what I heard... She has the famed "Open Book" headstock with the MOP "split diamond" logo and crown shaped inlays. From across the room you can't tell it isn't a "real" LP. And like another reviewer said, who cares about the bolt-on neck? Not me. Doesn't affect the sound that much.
Strapping her on is the same. She's got some heft to her, weighing in at a little over eight-and-a-half pounds. She's got that Gibson growl, too! And for what, a quarter the price? Well, better'n that since it's a 35 year old guitar! Try getting a Gibby this old for that! My bride scored this on eBay for $356 USD, shipped w/ OHSC and gave it to me two Christmases ago. A previous owner put Ping (Grover clone) tuners on her so she stays in tune for weeks at a time, even just sitting around while I play with her rival- my '77 Greco Spacey Sounds TL- but that's another story for another day...
My only complaint is that I had to get the lock nuts for the Tune-a-matic bridge b/c some cone-head lost 'em and it created one bad buzz!

When I'm recording and want that LP sound and nothing but an LP will do, this is the one I grab. I do Christian Rock in the style of... well, me. I usually run my POD 2.0 on tube preamp setting, juiced up for growling and pump it thru my Carvin XS-100. The sound is unmistakable- Paulie. Actually I call her Polly, but you know that sound...

Well, what can I say? If the Japanese guys got sued over these, they must've done something right. LOL! And we have to pay thru the nose for an American guitar made this well because they call it "custom shop" or some such nonsense! LOL!

The only reason for a backup is in case of a broken string. It's a solid rockin' guitar. Did I mention I'm really a drummer-turned-guitarist? You can imagine the finesse I have when approaching a guitar and playing Rock'n'Roll! Again, the Ping tuners keep her in check. I have strap locks because I learn the hard way. I dropped my buddy's LP on her face many, many years ago b/c I wasn't holding on. That was the first and last time I ever did that.

Ain't gonna find any as far as I know. That's why God created the guitar tech and made spaces in the local music stores for 'em to work in. (Thank You, Lord!) I haven't needed any outside help. I've set her up close enough to perfect with a hand-held Seiko digital tuner. And just b/c I'm a drummer doesn't mean I can't hear. LOL!

I switched permanently from drums to guitar about fifteen years ago, but have been flirting with it for over twenty-five years since I was in the Service. I have always lusted after Les Pauls and Tellys and when I was shopping for a replacement for my Aria Pro II Cardinal series, the Lord was looking out for me and provided my Polly. I had an Aria (not Pro II) LP copy once (both are Matsumoku's you know) and this beats that one hands down. Why, I don't know. Guess it's like buying a Wednesday-built Chevy over a Monday-built Chevy. I'd have a hard time at gunpoint choosing which of my guitars I'd let somebody take from me- this or my Blondie, the '77 Greco Thinline '72 Telly replica. Shoot me and take 'em both, cuz I'm gonna hunt you down like the dog you are! LOL!
If I were to mod this guitar in any way, I'd put some real hot rod p'ups in her. But at this juncture, why bother? She's only second fiddle to my Thinline, and that says alot.

1973 Les Paul copy made in Japan. Standard LP setup but it has a bolt-on neck. Nice cherry sunburst finish over a flamed maple top. I think the flamed maple is veneer. It has a 3 piece maple neck, rosewood fret board and all maple body. The fret markers are crown type MOP and the headstock has MOP logo and LP trapezoid type inlay. A really nice looking guitar. It weighs in at almost 9 pounds. The pickups are Maxxon and high output. The pots in mine are all original and after 36 years are smooth as can be with no scratchiness. This is a pre-lawsuit model and is nearly identical to a LP from the same year. I'm not a snob as far as bolt-on necks go, all my other guitars are Fender and they all have bolt-on necks!

This is a great R&R guitar and that's what I mainly use it for. It would be good for other styles too, except maybe country. Just like a LP. The neck pick-up is covered and very smooth, maybe dark sounding. The bridge pup has no cover and will really cut through when you need to step out. The tone and volume controls work well with these pups and you can get many variations in tone. I have been familiar with Electra guitars since the 70's and always wanted one. This is my first humbucker guitar since 1986 and I am very pleased with it. I usually play it through my excellent Chicken Pickin Amplification Tweed Deluxe clone. I can crank up the Deluxe and with these powerful pickups I get the better overdrive than any pedal can give. Sustain forever!

I think this 1973 gem had been sitting up for a long time when I got it. It was in excellent condition but had rusty strings and needed a good cleaning and setup. I adjusted the truss rod and intonated it with a strobe tuner using the 5th fret/17th fret comparison method. It is perfect. It stays in tune much better than my 2007 Telecaster Deluxe! The action is great with 10's on it. The 10's feel like 9's almost. The stock tuners work well after all these years. The flamed top is not really bookmatched but the flames are not very intense either. Still a great looking guitar.

It's 36 years old and still going strong!

I have been playing non-professionally for 40 years. I own 9 guitars presently. I play mostly Fender electric guitars but this guitar has inspired me and gotten me out of a rut stylistically. If it were lost or stolen it would be hard to find one in this condition but I would try. I would actually rather have it than a brand new LP! As cool as it gets for me.
