I bought this guitar from my neighbor around 1980-81, it was like new! and came with a Gibson 335 hardshell case. I fell in love with the beautiful blond, natural color and the beautiful tree / vine fret board pearl inlay. The guitar is completely stock and original from the tuners, two humbuckers, nut. I have only replaced the strings and had a music store "Set it up" for me.

I love the sound!! I play for fun, not professionally, occasionally jam with some bands I know. The guitar has sustain FOR DAYS!!! It plays and sounds so smooth... or has AMAZING crunch through my friend Matt Mayes (Jupiter Coyote) tube Meza 50 calibur.

The guitar had a volume control issue which was a loose wire and repaired by a guitar shop. The action is awesome.

I have been playing since around 1980. I own a beautiful Guild 12string, and my Electra 335 with modified Pevey amp. I have played other guitars, some very high-end, but this Electra just fits me great, plays so well and sound great. EVERYONE who has ever played it has offered / wanted to buy it!!....It's not for sale!

This is a standard ES-335 copy, with all of the features of the original, including two humbucking pickups. The wood appears to be laminated maple for the top, back, and sides. Like the original, is it semi-hollow, with f-holes in either side of the body.
The wood was finished clear so you can see the lovely grain. The neck has a "tree of life" i nlay running the entire length. Its nice looking, but if you look close you can see filler, so the job wasn't of incredible precision on an absolute scale, but amazing for the $300 price tag.
I bought this guitar at age 16 in 1980 from money I made cutting grass. At the time I wanted something better suited for jazz and blues, and an ES-335 was a good choice, only I couldn't afford a real one, and the $300 price tag hit the spot. That and its a beautiful guitar.

I use this guitar like I would an ES-335, capable of handling everything from big bands to heavy metal. I used it on a lot of wedding reception gigs where you have to play something quiet during the meal and then get the crowd dancing afterwards.
The sound is more like an Epihone 335, probably because of the laminated wood. For a Jazz sound, though, once you roll off the highs and play through an amp you can't tell much of a difference in my opinion.

The guitar is amazingly well built for the money. It took a lot of thrashing from a teenager and is still in great condition. I replaced the neck pickup with a dimarzio, although I don't really think it made that much of a difference.
Around 1982 the frets were a little uneven and my father took it for a fret job as a surprise. Unfortunately the guy he took it too filed down the net and set it up for speed metal, ultra low. This would have been fine if I wanted to play metal, but jazz and blues sound better with the strings at a more normal height. Years later I had a new bone nut cut by hand and the action set more appropriately. The frets were still fine, and the guitar has shown no other changes in the past 20 years.

I've used it on lots of gigs without a backup. A solid, solid performer.

I've been playing since 1973, and own a variety of other guitars. This is obviously a nostalgic guitar for me, and I would look for another one if it was stolen. On an absolute scale this guitar is in the "good" category-- A real ES-335 sounds better to me, but is also much more expensive. As a value, this guitar is as good as it gets, and I would recommend it to anyone with a few hundred dollars to spend.

The 335 copy is actually called Electra "Custom Pro". I bought the one that I still own new in 1983 with the hard shell case. These guitars were not normally stocked in the stores. I decided on my purchase based on brochure descriptions and commentary from professional musicians that were pushing it at the time. The advertisement at the time had stated that the group "Steely Dan" had used one in the studio and was swearing by it. Everyone that has played it says that it is one of the best playing guitars that they ever put in their hands.

This guitar sounds any way you want it to sound. I have used it with several different PA systems and you can virtually make it sound like you want.

With the thin neck and the easy action it literally plays itself. You can play this guitar for hours and never ware your fingers out. When the finish is shined up its flawless finish can really be appreciated.

This 335 copy is solid black with a stop tailpiece, a peace sign logo on the head, and dual humbuckers set up just like a Gibson 335. The most apparent difference is that it has a removable plate to access the electronics in back and the input jack is on the rim just like a Les Paul. The tuners are simulate Grovers of medium quality and the ultra slim neck has dot markers. Im sure its a plywood top, but totally the fit and finish is very good. The mother of pearl peace sign logo looks retro cool and is very well detailed.

The tone approaches a 335 but just doesnt have the quality. Duncan pickups would turn the sound around. (or Dimarzio etc.)

This guitar plays great though the neck is a jazz neck--that is its too thin and narrow for my large hand. The total guitar is amazingly well done. I had never seen one before and it is very distinct looking with its white binding on a black body.

This guitar is solidly built, better than average quality. Pro tuners and pickups added this would be a neat guitar. I bought it and a real Gibson 335 case for $240.

Ive been playing 40 years semi-pro (weekend warrior), but Ive made a good part time living. I try to limit my investment in guitars--Ive got 7, but I still will buy and try any that are cheap enough and interesting. I do some repair work locally--Im working on an original '55 telecaster, getting it "running" and installing a nut. Ive had 100's of guitars: 57 custom colored gold hardware Stratocaster, 52 Les Paul, many 335's, 330's, Strats, Les Pauls, etc. I use a GR ready American Strat for performance now. We play the country club circuit in Dallas, Texarkana, Tyler area and do classic rock, country, as well as old smooth big band. We have been a bar band doing country, disco, rock and have found that all you need to do is please the audience and be professional, if you want to keep working like we have since 1971. We usually play about 70 jobs a year. Any one else out there doing this?
