The Guitar is a 1981 model, manufactured in Japan and distributed under Saint Louis Music. It has 24 frets, average midsized wire. The guitar is solid ash with a maple neck and fingerboard. It has one volume and one tone knob, along with a 3 way pickup slector and a 2 way fat switch to couple tthe middle and neck, or middle and bridge pickups. The knobs, bridge, and nut are all brass. There are 3 single coil pickups. They are not branded, most likely just company made pickups from Japan. The body's finish is the X140S walnut stain, and the clear laquer over it has worn off over the years. Polishing is a good way to give it its look back, though. Style wise, it has SG horns with exaggerated Strat style cutouts. The bridge is a simple hardtail with no vibrato/tremolo setup. Tuners do not lock and are not branded. I purcased the guitar about a week ago, so it came with nothing.
Sound

I do a combo of effects, funk, and rock, andf this guitar can hold its own against Strats. As of now, I use low-power Marshall and Fender amps with Boss pedals. It has a nice rich sound, very loud even when unplugged, in part do to the truss rod at the base of the neck. Combinig toneal effects of the amp and guitar, wide ranges are availiable. It also doesn't muffle high bass tones as much. I love the sound and quality, but the brass nut is a love/hate thing. It adds nice tone, but rattles vigorously when playing hard. The notches for the strings are very faint on it.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
The guitar is very high quality in all areas here. Because of its age and various owners before me though, it had lost playability through an amp because of torn wires, so I had it repaired. The body held up well, along with the neck which was very straight even through its damages. Even so, the guitar was all-around a great steal for twenty bucks. The sheer survivor-factor of the guitar gives it a 10.
Reliability/Durability
:10
The guitar can withstand stage gigs, as is evidenced by it, I have yet to try though. The hardware lasted for 27 years and lived to be played, so it obviously lasts. The finish is there, but its shine had left it, polishing keeps it shining though. Strap buttons are solid and hold the guitar well with good distribution. This guitar is highly dependable, and I doubt a buackup is needed.

The company went defunct in 1985-6, so there isn't much to base it on. Had it repaired at a local shop for twenty bucks. The guitar originally came with a lifetime warranty, which I'm sure is now void.

i've played guitar for a few years, and own a fender Starcaster along with a Marshall and Fender 20-watt amp. I should've asked about whether or not the guitar worked, I coulda gotten the price down to ten or fifteen bucks, but i won't complain, this is a rare collectors item. If it were stolen or lost, I would die. this guitar is irreplaceable for me. I love the solid construction, body style, and it's easy to work on. I hate that there is no trmeolo, but I can live without one. I'm a fan of the switch combos you can acheive and the simple bridge setup. I didn't take the time to compare, I just handed the kid the money and was off.
If you find an Electra, but it, that's all I can say.

Purchased used in 1980 as part of a trade.
22 frets on light maple neck.
Like the others here have said, sort of a cross between a Strat and an SG. Solid hardwood (heavy!) body with cherry sunburst finish/black pickguard.
1 master volume, 1 tone master knob; 3-way switch (selects each pickup individually) plus "fat" micro-switch to pair up either neck/middle or bridge/middle for that out-of-phase Strat-like sound.
No branding on pickups, although they sound fantastic.
Passive electronics.
Brass nut and bridge - bridge has individual saddles adjustable for height and intonation.
Hard tail.
No-name tuners - they work great.
25.5" scale length

Sounds like a vintage Strat to me.
I play in a retro-indy-rock band, but my musical interests run from late 40's r&b to the present.
Sounds fantastic through my 1964 Ampeg Gemiini II. Good clean or through my Dean Markley Overlord (silly name!) tube preamp and my Ross compressor.
I usually use the middle-pickup position - this works for most of my playing style, kind of Buddy Holly meets Keith Richards meets Carl Wilson.
"Fat" sound is almost too much, but I use it on a few tunes for variety.
It can sustain when it's called for, or it can get a nice plunky muted sound with hand muting on the bridge.
Action, Fit, & Finish

I've owned this guitar since 1980, so I've had it set up several times. Action is currently excellent for how I play.
Fit and finish has always been good - the guitar has accumulated it's share of dings and bumps in the 26 years I've owned it.
I didn't like the knurled brass knobs and I replaced them with gold hat knobs from my long-departed 1964 Gibson Melody Maker.

I have played live with this guitar in several bands since 1980 and it has always performed like a champ.
Stays in tune like nobody's business.
Lots of belt-buckle rash on back from my earlier carelessness.
Strap buttons are solid and dependable.
I never gig without a backup.

I have been playing for 32 years and have owned too many guitars.
When I got this one, I started keeping just a few special players for the "permanent" collection.
If this was lost or stolen, I'd look for another - this time with a vibrato. That's the one thing I wish it had.
This guitar has been a big part of my guitar sound for over 25 years.
Now I think I'd like to have a nicer looking pickguard made - maybe white or black MOTS.

Mine was made maybe 20 years ago. It's made in Japan. It's very nice... even though I've never heard of an Electra until I bought this one. It has 23 frets and it's solid body. It has a natural finish, nothing but finish. There's a three way selector and another two way. It's got a main volume control and a second one for the second pickup. Mine's got a slightly active set of electronics. It's got a very unique and beautiful cutaway design. It looks like a mix between a Gibson SG and Fender Strat. It's got a nice maneuverable neck for jumping around. I got this at a music store used. It's very nice for my first guitar, and I'll probably never ever sell it. Maybe trade it for an original les paul or something but....nah.

It sounds great. I don't have an amp but it's pretty loud by itself. So you don't really even need a practice amp. It almost sounds acoustic. But when I do have an amp... It has a nice rich sound. Like I said... There aren't many guitars like it.

Made in Japan, from the info i can gather its about 20 years old. Their are 23 frets, they are midsized, it works really wekk for the blues unless you want a good slider, its not to keen on its slide...It is a solid mahogany body with a maple neck. This certan guitar has 3 singles im not shure of the pickups they are factory they are passave, 1 tone and 1 volume, one 3 way slector and a 2 way togle. the body is a nice mix of a sg and a strat, very unique i like it. it has the imput jack on the face and has a black pickguard. the finish is a perl white, it dident come with a case or anything, i found it in the back of a local music store, Green hills music, with a set of strings that are probably older than me. But i out some d'adarios on this and it playes sooooooooo nicely.

Like i said this guitar gets nice bluesy tones, if you run it through a fuzz face it sounds alot liek sir jimmi hindrex, i ues an old randall (pre washburn) amp and it sounds really really really fine. the sound is very full and the guitar screams it can go from punk al the way to jazz this guitar is amazing.
