This is a sunburn Telecaster copy. It a very good copy with an accurate body shape, a 3 way selector, 1 volume and 1 tone control. The body looks to be 3 pieces and is very light, I'm not sure what the wood is but it is solid judging by the front and back grain that can be seen. The strings are strung through the body, a surprise at this price.

The neck has a smooth finish with little or no lacquer on it (it feels nice) and a rosewood fret board. The frets are all even, clean and aren't sharp at the ends. The nut is graphite and the pick guard is a 5 screw white guard.

The 2 pickups are single coil and branded 'Guitar Tech'. The tuners are unbranded but it holds tune for a practise session without problems.

The guitar is not fancy but it's a Telecaster copy so it doesn't need to be, it is very very low cost though!

Sound : 7
It has a typical Telecaster sound, the pickups both ring out well and are very quiet when unplayed. The controls are also very quiet with only a small click when the pickup selector is changed. It's actually quieter than my 60th Anniversary Fender Telecaster!

My only complaint is that the sound is quite light, it's certainly not boomy as it could be. I've enjoyed the sound so far so sometimes you do want some more bass in there.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar came double boxed with very good intonation. The action was very high but this was easily changed. The fit of all parts is very good although the volume control was loose when it arrived. Pulling off the knob and a quick spannering corrected this.

I'm still using the orignal strings and they have taken quite a stretching, I will put on a branded set soon though.

The bridge, pick guard and controls are all fitted squarely and the neck is snuggly fitted in the pocket. There is a very small blemish in the finish on the edge of the body at one point but that is all. Remember, this guitar only cost me ??74!!

Reliability/Durability : 8
It actually seems like quite a sturdy guitar. I bought it as one to transport about and take knocks and it doesn't look like things will fall off it as a result. The body paint/lacquer seems quite hard but I haven't tested it with any drops yet. The neck feels immediately comformtable in my hand and seems to be well fitted with no gaps around the edges.

If I were good enough I would gig with it but it's not my only guitar so I wouldn't have to do without a backup. I can't see what would go wrong with it though, it's a very straightforward Telecaster design.

This guitar is fantastic value for ??74!!!

I also own a Les Paul copy (which I changed a few parts on before it was up to standard) and a 60th Anniversary Fender Telecaster. The Fender cost over 13X as much as this guitar which makes this Encore look even better value.

I wanted a low cost Telecaster guitar to carry to lessons and leave in the boot of my car, this guitar serves that purpose very well.
