Early 90s at a guess. Probably bought from Argos originally
strat shaped body
22-fret strat neck (bolt-on)
crappy enclosed tuners
strat type trem
H-S-S pickups (unbranded) with black plastic covers to look like EMGs
1 volume
1 tone
5 way switch
Body is painted with a picture of the devil and a flying skull

The stock pickups - about as good as i'd expect from an Encore. The single coils sounded ok, but the bridge humbucker sounded muffled, probably because it has a plastic cover on it... The electrics all worked fine, but the sound was nothing special.
I replaced the pickups and wiring with a 'Kramer QuadRod 422 Booster Pack'. Now it sounds great. Woo-Hoo.

First I changed the tuners for some Schaller/Gotoh style sealed ones, that improved the tuning stability compared to the crappy stock tuners.
The I decided I didn't like the neck profile. It was a decent neck with quite a 'Fat 50s Strat' feel to it, but I like Jackson style shredder necks. I put a thinner strat-type neck on it. 'twas OK...
Then I just got sick of it - so I replaced the strat trem with a Floyd Rose, and put a Kramer neck on it...
Basically, all I've got left is the body. It has a picture of the devil on it, and that's the only reason I bought the guitar. All in all it's probably cost me about #200 making a great guitar.

Should be pretty reliable I guess, although I find that you need a floyd rose to stay in tune....maybe that's just me.

now that I've changed the neck, bridge and electrics I love this guitar.... I'd definately buy/make another.
I only bought it for the graphic on the body, knowing that I'd most likely have to upgrade the other parts.
