I have an ebony finish. It is a laminated top. It always sounds good. I bought mine with a epiphone case, pick, and strap.

Sound : 10
I play at church. All of us teens play an instrument. We perfom at church camp. It sounds great but sounds awsome when plugged. I listen to alot of alternative. It really fits my style.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It is a great guitar. Nothing is wrong with it. It is even better than some of the expensive guitars. :)

Reliability/Durability : 10
It is great for church and playing with friends. I say it is good enough for live playing. The hardware would last forever if you treat it good. It is a very fit guitar. It stays in tune. I might bring it to a gig without backup....it depends where.----i'm just a girl so I get worried about those things.

All I have to type is:

Lifetime :D

Overall, It is awsome.

I bought this one new at a local music store just a couple weeks ago. It doesn't have a whole lot in the way of features other than being a really great-sounding guitar plugged in or unplugged. It has a laminated top, 21 frets, no onboard pre-amp or controls--just what I think is a passive pickup. Body is mahogany with what looks like a rosewood bridge saddle and fingerboard. Mine has a beautiful opaque ebony finish with a black pickguard with the Epiphone "e" logo in white, ivory colored binding and dot inlays. The tuners are the closed type and the neck is a comfortable size for my hands, but I'm not sure of the measurements.

Sound : 9
This epi has a really punchy bass for its relatively small size, cutting highs and a warm midrange. Plugging it in makes it even better. I plug this into a Crate TX30 rechargeable battery operate amp. With its "gain selector" switch I can get a nice clean, clear accoustic sound for country or folk, or a dirty electric sound for blues and harder rock. Feedback is a bit of a problem on the "dirty" setting, but as I said, the guitar has no on-board preamp and for now, until I buy a preamp, I'm just going direct to the amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action is great, just as good or better than that of some guitars in a higher price range. Factory set-up seemed just fine. There is just one small flaw, just a scratch on the pickguard right where it meets the top of the guitar. I probably wouldn't have even noticed this if it were on a "natural" finished guitar, but the scratch being white shows up against the otherwise black finish.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've never really had a gig, I play in church sometimes, or with friends or just for my own amusement. I've been playing more and more since I got this one, so maybe a gig is in my future. In any case I would see no reason to bring a backup instrument on a gig with this guitar. It holds its tuning very well, and probably wouldn't even need a between-song tune-up. The strap buttons are very well attached, although I m still getting used to having the left end of the strap connected to the side of the body just above the neck joint. I guess I can still tie the strap to the headstock the way I'm used to if it reallys tarts to bug me. I can easily see myself playing this instrument with no trouble for the next 20 years.

I've only had this guitar for 2 weeks! Nothing yet. . .

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I'm a self-taught musician and have been playing for about 27 years. My other instruments are a (Guild) Madiera I got as a graduation present 20 years ago, and a 1934 Gibson L4 that my grandmother received as a graduation present 67 years ago--that one doesn't leave the house! The epi is a nice enough instrument that I'm proud to be seen playing it, but not so fine, rare and expensive an instrument that I'm afraid to take it camping or anything. I would definitely replace it with a similar model if it were stolen. But please don't steal it. I hate that.

Bought off Ebay for $130.00 + $21.00 Shipping fee. After pluging it in I almost feel like I stole it. Not what I'd call a great guitar but for that kind of money it's fantastic. This in the Natural model and the finish is prefect.

Sound : 9
I was surprised at how rich this cheapie sounds. I haven't had it long but tuned it once and so far haven't had any problems.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Bought from a dealer on Ebay. I don't know if he set it up or if it came from the factory this way but it's nice. No flaws that I've found and this is one pretty guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Seems to be very well built. Like I said I haven't had it long enough to rate it for durability but don't think there'll be any problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Lifetime warranty but from what Ive heard I'll never need it!

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing Bass for over 30 years. Just now starting to fool around with 6 string. I have a Vox Beetle Bass, Gibson EBO-1, a Sigma by Martin, a Norman B-15 and a cheapie takamine. Have two Jay Tursers on the way. If this were lost or stolen I'd either replace it with the same model or an upgrade Epi. They seem to be well built.

I have no clue when it was made, or where it was made...I got it off ebay for $100 about 6 months ago. I think it's beautiful, very solid and in excelent condition. I don't know much about guitars, but this is my first one, and my first time playing and I think it's excelent. I have had friends who have played for years before me who are quite jealous of little "pip" (short for epiphone). From what I have been told and what I get out of it, this is an excelent guitar

Sound : 9
The sound is great. I am still afraid to really rock out on it, because I broke a string my first day. It stays in tune really well...I check it about once every other week, and probably have to tune it every other time I check it. I play every day. My style (poppy depression as I call it...think Jewel meets Fiona Apple meets Michelle Branch) works well with the guitar. It's mostly something to keep me in check while I am singing along.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
There really isn't anything really wrong with it. Everything is good, the wood is good, hardware is all solid...my E is kind of coming off but that's ok. The strap gets lots of tugging when I sling it over my sholder to jot down chords while writing. It's holding up well

Reliability/Durability : 10
I do most of my playing when I wake up mid sleep so I almost always knock it around, or bump it into something. Sometimes hard enough for me to panic, and there's still not a scratch on it. It's holding up really well. Would I take it to a gig witout backup?? Well I play my first one this this September and I don't have another to back it up, so yeah. I'm definatly not worried about something happening to it...I don't play it too rough. It's very dependable, I would worry more about my doing something to damage it, and not it breaking on it's own

Customer Support : 10
Lifetime...or so it says on the lable. I havn't had to test it yet

Overall Rating : 10
Like I said, it's been about 6 months since I have started playing. I had a friend pick it out for me too. I was worried about it being a bad guitar, but it's excelent. If I were to lose it, or have it stolen, I would probably cry because I can't afford another one. BUT I would save up and probably get another AJ15E. I agree with one of the other people that the frets are low. It took me forever to get it right, but any and all problems I have had with it have been because of me. It's a great guitar, and I would say anyone looking to start playing go with this...it's awesome for the money it cost me to get it

Made in Korea, 2000 Model. Mahogony Body with "Select Spruce" top.
Has a built in piezo pickup (no EQ, though) for plugging in.
Mine is the Vintage Sunburst color, which is beatiful. It has white (painted on) binding, a dark-brownish red tourtoise-esque pickguard (with the "E" on it". The color is beautiful, it's truly "vintage" looking, instead of the the standard "wood" color of most accoustics.
The burst looks dark, almost orange-color in low light, but under bright light, it turns a honey-color. Same with the pickguard, it looks black in low-light, and comes to life under light. I chose to remove the "E", since it doesn't fit the character of my AJ, plus it's being saved for a future Epi guitar.
It's got a fat neck with medium-low frets, so it's not a "finesse" guitar, but if you play really hard and fast like me, you won't notice.
ZZounds had it for $180 (an absolute bargain), so I snapped it up!
I give this one an 8, where else are you going to find a Jumbo accoustic/electric this well-made or this good-looking for around $200? I wish it had a dot-marker on the 3rd fret, an EQ, and a solid top, but that's why Epi makes other models.

Sound : 8
I really like the sound. I needed something that could cover a lot of accoustic sounds from deep-boomy sad songs to jangly upbeat songs, and this one is great (for the price). Notes just ring out. It's got a very full sound thanks to the Jumbo body, although I wish it were a little bassier. A solid-top would fix that (the wood is sort of thin). Of course, when I run it though my Vox Pathfinder amp, I just cut the highs and boost the bass and it gets a fat accoustic sound, so there you go, although for some reason, the piezo pickup doesn't pick up the top E-string well (the bassiest one), but I'll see if I can fix that.
It's kind of funny, because I expected it to be really boomy when I ordered it, but it's quite jangly to.
The guitar is mainly used for a variety of Oasis accoustic ones (from the jangly ones to the sad ones and in between), as well as some Neil Young songs (and possibly some praise/worship songs in the future), plus some old power-ballads. It covers it all great. The sound is very loud to, my right ear is kind of sore from being near the sound-hole while I check my chords.
I'll give it an 8 for sound. I've compared it to a variety of low-price accoustics (Sigma's, Takamine, Washburn) and even a fancy Guild and it hold's it's own very well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Excellent shape when I received it in the mail. Action is pretty low, and was in tune from the factory! The frets are sort of low, which take some getting used to (it really improved my technique). The finish is flawless, and glossy. Chrome parts are still shiny and the plastic parts have an aged look, which is cool. No glue spill or uneven parts. Internal bracing is clean and well done.
If I had to be picky, I'd mention that you have to physically try and move the neck back and forth to do that "whammy-thing" that happens with loose necks.
The tuners are OK, it'll stay in tune for about a week before I check it. My gig bag is sort of small (or the AJ is big!), and the tuners have managed to get all pinched and out of tune when I haul it around. I'm considering a pair of gold Grovers and maybe a bigger case to fix this.
Some of the string pegs rattle a bit (I strum HARD), so I'm considering some pearl-covered brass-locking ones to replace them (plus, they're supposed to help with sustain a little).
I give it a 9, just pecause I wish the frets were a little thicker.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've never taken it to a gig, per-se, but I've taken it to places with me to play and had no problems (girls think it looks great:-)).
The strap buttons are solid, hardware seems solid, tuners are OK (although I'll probably replace them because of the above-mentioned occurence). I wish the wood was a little thicker, but the thing ways a TON as-is, so maybe not. I'm pretty "forceful" with my guitars, and this accoustic is in better shape than my electric! I'd defenitely take a back-up, though, in case of a string break or some freak accident. If Noel Gallagher can take a fleat of Epi's on the road or to the studio, then they're good enough for the me.

"Limited Lifetime Warranty"
No problems yet, and I don't anticipate any. I've had it for over a month now and she's a solid guitar. Never dealt with Epiphone in the past either (I've got an Epi SG Special, to).

Overall Rating : 10
Another great Epi guitar. They look great, are great quality, sound good, and are relatively cheap. If it were stolen, I'd probably move up to an Epiphone EJ-200 sunburst (look at the cover of Defenitely Maybe for the one) or a sub-$500 Martin since I can afford something a little better (more bass, pearl inlay, etc), but for $200 or less, the AJ is a great guitar.

Not sure of the year - probably 1998 - 2000
20 frets, Spruce Top (solid? don't know). Mahagony back and sides, laminated (plywood). Peizo pickup. High Gloss finish. Advanced Jumbo, with soft shoulders. Similar to J-45 Gibson. Gotoh cheap tuners.

Sound : 9
I am giving it a 9 for sound, but I had to work for it (the sound was more like a 4 without the work). It sounded pretty poor out of the box (bought it sight unseen off ebay for $100). I took out my tools, adjusted the truss rod, raised the bridge on the treble side just a tad, and slotted the bridge pin holes, and turned the bridge pins around (makes for a really solid string to body connection). I also crowned the frets, and had to shave the 14th fret a LOT to stop buzzing - the neck angle is really not too good. But now it sounds awesome. I hate the fact that a $125 guitar can sound this good. The sound is very Rich and bright. Tight Bass, not boomy, and the treble is incredibly bright - almost too much so.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
Action was so low it almost had no sound. Rediculous!. The neck angle was too far 'back', which can make for better action, but also for a buzz/hump at the 14 fret where neck joins body. Very nicely finished though.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar is pretty damn solid. The finish is thick. I would definitely use it on a gig without a backup. The hardware is cheap, but I think it will last just fine.

Have not had to deal with support.

I have been playing for 25 years. I have played Martins, Taylors, Larivee's and own a '65 Gibson Country and Western. I bought this guitar for a beater because it was so cheap. I would definitely buy it again if it were stolen for that purpose; but you have to do a little setup work on them to make them sound good. Right now its sound is close to my Gibson (amazing!). It really is a great value for the price.
