The guitar is a 24 fret US made Eppiphone SG Standard solid with two Gibson P90 pickups, three-way selector toggle switch (Lead, Rhythm, Both-Les Paul Style), and volume and tone knobs for each pickup. The guitar has passive electronics. The body is solid poplar, heavy with fantastic sustain. The neck is maple with a mahogany fingerboard, and both the body and neck are finished with the toughest black satin urethane I have ver encountered, and covered in clear epoxy. Damn near scratchproof finish. The guitar has a separate bridge/tailpiece, both made of solid brass, heavily nickle plated, and has a black teflon nut. The tuners are extremely heavy enclosed gear semi-locking (you can only move them by turning the pegs). The neck is a 24 1/2" scale, thin, strong, with a flat radius...really sweet playable neck with standard frets, and fretwires that are just right. The guitar came with a fitted hard case, leather padded strap, cable, tools for bridge adjustment, and a soft gig bag.

Sound : 8
The guitar suits part of my musical style, although sometimes I find that there is too much sustain. The pickups are very fat and warm, but can be kind of hot when the volume is pushed way up. The pickups are very responsive to my DOD SupraDistortion and Electric Mistress Flanger/Compressor and plays best thru my Fender Princeton Chorus amp. There is some scratch and noise when adjust ing the tone on the lead pickup. The guitar sounds great but is not super-versatile-it produces warm fat jazzy tones and screaming metal type tones, and some deep heavy tones but lacks the crunch of some guitars. Extremely powerful and responsive to attack.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar was special ordered and set up for me. It came from the factory absolutely PERFECT. The pickups were superbly adjusted as was the action. Fit, finish, and detail is superb.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has withstood 11 years of hard playing both live and in sessions. The hardware is as tight as the day it came from the factory and the finish looks as new. The strap buttons are solid and do not vibrate against the body. This guitar has never failed me and I have often used it as my only guitar at a gig. I would use this guitar anytime without backup.

Customer Support : 10
I've never had a warranty issue with Eppiphone, but during order and purchasing they treated me wonderfully, answered all my questions and took great concern to see that I was satisfied with my guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing about 17 years, and i play through some small practice amps and a Fender Princeton Chorus. I would be devastated if this guitar was stolen, as it was made to my order. I would not hesitate to purchase another guitar from Eppiphone. This guitar is exactly what a semi-custom order should be. I got the guitar I paid for ($800+ bucks was a lot in 1987) and am very satisfied with it.
