This is my second cheapy guitar by Epiphone (my first was a Basher). It is a beautiful, well-made guitar for the price. There was a little mar in the finish along the neck when I received it, but it's not terribly noticeable. The guitar is shiny and black, which is in my opinion very rock and roll. The 2 twin hummbuckers make for good sound. The are nice strings and two knobs (volume and tone).

This guitar can produce whatever sound you are looking to play, so long as you can play it. My band plays all sorts of styles (reggae, rock, soul, etc) and it works well in all aspects. It plays clean. It plays dirty and loud too. Don't get me wrong, I have a solid Gibson Les Paul and it sounds much better. This is a good guitar for starters and for people who don't want to take their best guitar into some bar where it might get f**ked with.

I like my Basher better as far as inexpensive epiphones go, but this is still top notch for the price.

I decided to buy the first guitar in my life. So I was in a guitar center store which is the best place to buy musician stuff and I tried almosty every single guitar in the store. That's when the epiphone SG Bully appeared before me. The Epiphone SG Bully is an amazingly beutiful and shiny guitar. It is one of the best looking guitars in the world. It comes in a nice cardboard box that can kind of be used as a storage. The guitar on the other hand is shiny and comes in a black only which gives a Goth/Metal appeal. The headstock is long and thick and very cool looking. The fretboard has a "Super-Slide" feature for high speed riffs. There are 22 frets and the wood is pretty much all right and appears dark-colored on the front and light-colored on the back. The black chrome body is smooth and shiny black and I fell in love quickly. The bridge is silvery and nicely placed. There are 2 twin hummbuckers for good sound. The strings are nice and there are only two knobs which consist of the volume and tone knobs which is sort of lacking but I'm not complaining. There is a three way toggle switch which consists of normal, rythm, and treble settings. The SG design is truly amazing with the two cool points at the top and nice bottom. In short this guitar looks KILLER PERFECT!!!

I am working in trying to have a band at the moment. The music genre I am into is Gothic/Death Metal similar to bands like Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Kittie, and Korn. I have a small Crate amplifier at home to play my SG. The sound that the Epiphone SG Bully creates is very amazingly HEAVY unlike 90% of the guitars out there. It is hardcore and loud that will make neighbors complain instantly. At times the guitar wwill make a humming sound at times but doesn't kill the noise. It also is can be played low like other guitars and sound all right in clean mode. It may not be the best sounding guitar out there but surly one of the best. A must for all Metal and Gothic Rockers!

The Bully is done by Epiphone factories and even thouigh they are the sister company to Gibson, Epiphone makes great guitars. Many times though there may be some parts marked by a little wrong paint but it's hardly noticed. The wood on the fret parts seem to look dry but on that case just put a little baby oil on the wood for a little moisture and shine. Besides all, the finish is great. The pickups are well adjusted and so is the bridge. I love the finish throughout.

The SG Bully seems to be hardcore and at the same time take some beatings. I accidently dropped it three times at my height and it played well after. I on the other hand am a caring person with my instruments and it's never good to selfingly destroy your stuff on purpose to see how tough something is. I have done a couple shows with it and it never fails me. It is good to have a backup whenever possible though. It is a tough guitar and has solid strap buttons. The wood looks like it will last long time. Throughout just take good care of it and you'll be amazed.

Epiphone seems to be a good company and I have never dealt with the folks in person I have called them by phone and they seem very friendly. The warranty is normal like any other thing you buy so I am not complaining. There is a six month warranty which is OK as well. Throughout Epiphone is a great company.

I have had this beuty for a year and it has not yet failed me and I own other guitars and this son of a bitch is my favorite somehow. The nice body and playing and durability of it is great. If I ever lost this guitar I would defeinetly buy it again. Idon't hate anyhing about this guitar and will even try to ue it as my trademark guitar with Epiphone and Gibson SG's when my band makes it into the big scene. I paid $900 which to many may seem a lot but the reason is, I got it on one of the first days out and it came with the Crate amplifier. Normally it would cost from $500 or less. I like the sound of the guitar as well, but if some don't like it then buy a set of good humbuckers and that way you save money from other more expensive guitars with good humbuckers. I plan to do that as well, even though the humbuckers are great anyway. I also recommend getting metal pedals from Danelectro or Boss because I have and my Bully makes an even heavier crazy sound. Using other pedals is good a well. This guitar is just great the way it is or just make some adjustements like all other guitarists do. Later, I plan to buy a Gibson Gothic SG which looks just as great and cool too. But, for right now I love this guitar. Get this guitar NOW! It is one of the biggest kept secrets out there and for a good price.

i bought the guitar on ebay from Florida the seller did not do a very good job on packing and i live in Alaska when it arrived i was surprised it was still in one peice.. if it can take brutal shipping abuse its ready for anything. (not that you would put such a pretty thing trough that kinda thing...however i give the electronics a 5 they arent the best and people who play rock/metal etc usually replace the electronics anyway

This guitar was not that bad out of the box, but just two weeks later it started going bad...typical of Chinese made stuff. I had bought it as a travel/practice guitar, and ended up returning it in favor of a 30 dollar less Yamaha Pacifica. As far as the functions go, they are pretty well covered in the other reviews, and the functions are really just fine for a sub $200 guitar.

I play mostly punk, but do like playing some pshycadelic stuff and folky songs ont he clean channel. The guitar is able to suit those sounds okay, not anything fantastic, but really good enough for the beginner. There wasn't any real noticible fret buzz which is a major plus on a budget guitar such as this, but there did seem to be a bit of muddying when using the bridge pickup, which broke anyway (more on that later). Since this was my travel/practice guitar I only used it with a Fender Frontman 25R, but (when working) seemed to do just fine with the practice amp.

It had comfortable action, and fit a quick paced playing style well. The finish (Just Black) was nice and bright, but a seemed layered a little thin. It definately appeared prone to scratching, but I only had the guitar for 2 weeks before tossing it back so I dont know how easy it scratches for sure. The neck had a few rough edges on it's backside, but it wasn't anything too awful.

Absolute junk. Period. I wonder if all the junk was unique to just the guitar I had, lets hope so! Who cares that it was made out of a good piece of wood, the electronics take on characteristics of...well...cheap Chinese electronics. If you open up the access plate you will definately see AWFUL soldering work, and even worse ground shielding. Two weeks after I had purchased the guitar the bridge pickup simply popped and sizzled into oblivion. And soon after that my neck brodge started acting up too. I didn't need to think twice, I went straight back to the store and told them to give me back my money. The only reason I don't give it a 1, is that the body (at least) seemed to be real tough and able to handle abuse.

Never dealt with them, wasn't interested in getting another Bully SG, which would be Epiphone's solution.

I just hope my guitar was unique, and that all other Epiphone Bully SGs are 100% awesome, so no one else will ever have to deal witht his crap. But since I've read many people complaining of 2nd week gremlins on USENET also, I doubt it. I'd suggest that people maybe try out some of the Ibanez guitars, or try a Japanese made Yamaha Pacifica if looking for one in the same price range. They'd get just about the same effect, but with much better quality control in the components. This guitar deserves a 1 and only a 1.

2001 Bully E-series SG. Made in China assembled, set-up, and inspected in good ol' USA.
Very nice looking, just black finish, has two humbuckers which sound good, a pick-up switch and two knobs, 1 vol and 1 tone.
It has a tune-o-matic bridge.
Overall pretty nice, the finish is wonderfull and the whole thing is awsome looking.

I play all kinds of stuff and have different guitars for what I want to play.
This Sg is great for metal and punk, and rock an' roll.
It has a nice crunch and seems to be designed for the overdrive channel.
Sounds great on any pick-up and sounds really good if you run it on both.

I have been playing for a year 1/2 and have a Squire Std Strat and a De Armond M-55.
I would definatly buy it again.
I suggest this guitar as a cheap good looking guitar if you can't aford something better.
I bought it because I realy wanted a SG but there wasn't anything to choose from unless I wanted to pay 420 bucks for the g-400 or for the SG special which looks a little cheasy. This is a great looking, great playing guitar for the money.
I do suggest trying it out first, as the wide neck won't appeal to some people.
For an SG style guitar you certainly can't get any better for the price.

2001 Epiphone Bully SG. 22 frets, solid body, black finish. Two humbucker pickups, 1 tone & 1 volume knob & a 3-way selector switch. Stop tail piece. Unfortunatly, the guitar came with no extras, and I would have liked a couple more control knobs, but other than that, it's a good deal.

I play mostly punk and metal, and this guitar is perfect for me. With the bridge position pickup, I get a good mellow sound, and with the neck position, I get a beautifully dark, evil crunch. I love the sound of this guitar. I played it for about five minutes in the store, and I fell in love.

The guitar is quite durable. The hardware will last a while, and thae finish is good, and the strap buttons are solid. I can depend on it, but it's always smart to have a backup.

I love this guitar. I've been playing for about two years, and I own a Yamaha Strat knockoff and an LA Acuostic guitar. If this gutar were stolen or lost, I would definately get another SG. I love the sound, the feel, the look, and everything else about this guitar. As I asid earlier, I wish it had a couple more control knobs, but that's the only thing lacking.
