All the good stuff mentioned on music websites and stores. Bought it used off eBay, 1998 Korean model. SG design, pretty fast neck. The finish remained good, despite it being 10 years and used. The tuners are pretty good, but I am considering changing them to gold Grovers to make it look purdy. I got a strap with Schaller straplocks with my winning.

Sound : 9
Pretty bluesy at the bridge, a little twangy at the neck. This guitar can get pretty loud. You do have to play around with the adjustments with the stock pickups. The only replacement I see is one for the neck or hotrodding both of them. Overall, great tone imo.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I don't know about the setup from the factory, but when I received it from the eBay seller, I had to do some minor adjustments with the pickups. Other than that, it was fine. There was a minor flaw in the frets (two were slightly misaligned, but not to such a degree as to be unplayable). The wood generally was in good condition overall. The switch is a bit loose, but that can be easily fixed.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I don't gig. Hardware seems like it will last, although the gold hardware might not retain its color. The strap buttons are solid. And yes, I can depend on the guitar. It just needs some TLC.

If it was stolen, I would get the same guitar. I love the weight of the guitar. It's light and the neck is fairly fast. Fingerpicking on this guitar is better than my Ibanez hollowbody.

I purchased the Epiphone Korina G-400 Limited Edition in early 2000, close to the end of the run of this model, probably made in 1999/in Korea (it's possible they brought it back since then, but I don't think so) It has a nice natural/yellow finish, the classic SG double cut-away body, small one horn pickgaurd (white), lightweight korina wood body, rosewood fretboard, and tune-omatic bridge. All the controls are standard, with 2 volumes, 2 tones, and 3-way switching. I have customized mine, starting with Gibson USA '57 Classic-Plus humbuckers at the bridge and neck. The Classic-Plus pickups are recreations of the late 50's/60's pickups with a little extra output and bite. The stock tuners were unreliable, so I replaced them with gold Grover tuners to match the gold pickups and hardware. The wiring is standard bridge/neck/middle, and the switch and a pot have been replaced. I really like the feel of the neck. It is wide, but somewhat flat and smooth where the palm rests. Overall, this is just a great looking, feeling and sounding guitar.

Sound : 8
The natural resonance is very nice, and the stock pickups were actually pretty good for what they were. Since I switched out the pickups to real Gibsons, it sounds virtually like a Gibson SG. I have plugged into a Marshall, a small Vox Valvetronix, and direct to recorder effects and it sounds great for most purposes- particularly at the bridge pickup, "the old reliable" as I call it. I had intonation issues for a long time, and eventually had it set-up and the frets dressed to fine tune everything. You can crank out with it with virtually no noise and get that sweet, clean, balanced sound. The balance from string to string is one strong feature.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
A lot of the factory settings were not exactly ideal, but what sold me on this guitar was the low, smooth action! Nothing is worse than trying a guitar with high action that cuts your fingers and that just doesn't feel right. You can drop the action real low and the strings ring out nicely. As I stated before, I have customized mine a great deal, but the basics of this axe are great. The neck is very sturdy and straight. I have probably adjusted the rod about 5 times in 7 years. Very reliable neck, unlike a lot of pricey Gibsons that warp and bend.

Reliability/Durability : 9
My only real issue with the guitar is that the electronics like to act up. However, electronics and pickups are fairly easy and cheap to repair. My philosophy with a guitar like this is: pay the $300-$400 for a nice fundamental instrument, and invest in another $200 for pickups and $100 for setup/fret work- and you have a quality SG for $600-$700, instead of $1,200-$2,000 for a Gibson. Overall, it is solid and should have no troubles playing live or in the studio.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company personally. I did most of my adjustments and repairs after it was about 2 yrs. old. Can't remember how long the warranty lasted.

Overall Rating : 9
This was my first real guitar, I had a couple cheapos before this. I bought it new and fell in love with it pretty much the minute I saw it. I remember also trying some ugly green Gibson SG Special and chose the Korina over everything else. A large part of my decision was the price. I have owned it and consistently used it for close to 8 years. I have other guitars, but this is my baby. If anything were to happen to it, I would probably cry for a while in a corner somewhere. Many standard G400's that I have tried just don't match up.
With a little TLC, this has been a great instrument.

First off, after reading the first page of reviews prior to mine here, I don't think everyone is talking about the same guitar. The Epi G400 Korina is made of korina, NOT mahogany. It is a set-neck, NOT a neck-thru or bolt-on. It's finish is a transparent yellowish color and has all-gold hardware. Pearl name and fretboard inlays, standard Gibson-styled VVTT controls, and a nice pair of PAF-styled humbuckers.

It's an easy concept to grasp. If you have a different model of guitar, don't submit your stupid review with bad grammar here. Do 3 minutes worth of research to actually find out what your guitar is.

Sound : 8
I've always wanted a SG but never had the cash for a Gibson (story of every Epi-owner's life!). I think after adjusting the pickup height and setting up the guitar properly, it's fantastic! The pickups aren't as warm as the Gibson PAF's but they do have a nice crunch. This Epi runs into a Homebrew Hematoma fuzz then to stack of Sunns. Needless to say, I predominantly play doom metal and occasionally some classic rock.

The guitar sounds great as it is right now. It's not noisy at all and has a nice thick sound to it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
It's action and finish are absolutely amazing. Everything fits properly, nothing rattles around inside when you shake it, there's no dents or scratches on the finish (yet) even though it's a few years old. The set-neck is glued in very well and the tuners work great. There's no buzz when I play (standard B# tuning) either which has been a problem with a few other guitars no matter how you had them setup.

The only downfall of this particular guitar is the frets. They were cut a gnat's pube too long so they hang off the edge of the fretboard. It's definitely noticeable when playing as it cuts up your hands like small nails hanging out. Every now and then it will grab your skin as your trying to make a smooth slide up the fretboard and when it does, you can throw all smoothness out the window.

This is a REALLY easy fix though. Go to your local hardware store and buy a cheap file (the small, pencil-sized kind) and file down the frets till they're smooth. Careful with your fretboard. Done.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems reliable enough. As long as all the solder joints hold out and it doesn't suffer some sort of massive drop, it should last a good 30-years minimum.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with 'em but I wouldn't expect much.

Overall Rating : 7
Bass for 11 years, guitar for about 4. I've owned massive amounts of gear and have been able to try out a lot of quality and not-so-quality instruments. This is a great middle of the road guitar. It works great for what I need it to do. I know there's a LOT better stuff out there but for this kind of money it's hard to beat. My favorite things about this guitar are the set-neck and the bridge and also that it's pretty light. The only thing I'd change would be to dress the frets better. I'm contemplating changing the bridge pickup to a Duncan Invader but I'm satisfied with the stock tone for now.

The Newest Korina edition, made in Korea, 22 frets, 2 volume, 2 tone knobs, two gold humbuckers, Gibson make, passive electronics, machagony body, rosewood fingerboard, beautiful tree-colour finish, classic Gibson bridge (screw the tremolos and floyd roses'!!!), stabile Tune-O-Matic, excelent fat neck.

Sound : 10
I am still playing grungerock, and I was stunned with massive mid-range-boost sound, which I dreamt for last 7 yrs of my playing. It sounds EXCELENT even with 10W Fender Frontman Reverb amp, through its own OD. Speaking of the sound, there's absolutely no "dislikes" from me!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
After few tinny modifications of the bridge I found a suitable and playable feature on this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Well, in spite of that all Gibson looking guitars are falling down on the strap, nothing seems to be a problem during playing. Well... Almost.. I still can't get used to the fat neck!!! :D

A very good guitar...maybe not everyone likes its colours, but it's always SG!! really little to learn from Gibson one...

I don't cry for the floyd rose I've abandoned changing my guitar, and I think very comfortable the position of the pickup selector

just the neck...just quite fat...

Sound : 9
do you know "stairway to heaven" by led zeppelin? the neck pickup has that sound...and the bridge one has a perfect rock sound, with every ampli and every distorsion or effect

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
very comfortable to play, I can pull up the pickups till the strings without any problem...with my previous guitar I wasn't able to do it because of the noise, now unhearable

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
although I've bought it used, it sounds good

that's enough to know, isn't it?...

no one problem

no one contact

I'm very happy

just the colour makes me think...but

this guitar makes me think I will never buy any other instrument...or maybe just a Gibson...

1999 Korean made. This was my first Korean made guitar but will not be my last. All the same stock features as other reviews. Korina wood is an awesome sounding wood! Played it for awhile with stock pickups and hated every moment of lisening to it, while loving how well it felt and played. The stock pickups didn't last long, I soon replaced them with a Seymor Duncan SH-2 in the neck position and a SH-6 Seymor Duncan in the bridge position, wow what a change so much better. One note, I own a real 61 Gibson Les Paul with side pull tremolo, and no 61 reissue by gibson or epiphone is really like it.
However the neck size and shape of this guitar is very close. Ressues do have the Sg body shape, but the actual body sculpting is quite different. This does not make me like this guitar less, and it does have a great feel. I have owned this guitar for over a year. Players who see my collection always want to buy at least one of my guitars, recently one of the local band leaders here wanted this guitar or a gibson goth sg I had. I put the price of the epi at $600.00 hoping it would not sell. I feel great that he bought the goth (also a good guitar) nothing like the Gibson name, But the epi is now a better sounding guitar. Unless you stumble onto a great deal even a used gibson Korina SG is over $2000.00, upgrade the pickups its well worth it.

Sound : 8
I do not like to play the same guitar all the time but with the new pickups, I can cover any style (however its not the best sounding on every thing) and the direct recording sound is awesome. My main amp is a fender hot rod deluxe. If a different amp is required either the band or studio I'm working for supplys it. Seems to work well with any amp. However if there is an amp or style I'm required to play that this guitar didn't work best or if I just wanted to play a different guitar, well thats the reason I have many guitars. I have no one guitar that sounds best on everything. Also I like to hear many sounds so I need many guiars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Bought it used, the setup was unuasble. However I straighened it right out. Pickup selector was noisy and faulty, took it out of the guitar and tightened the main screws that hold it together no more problems. No problem with pots, bridge, stop piece, or tuners.

Reliability/Durability : 8
First backups are always good no matter what. If I was young and this was my only guitar, I would play it without a backup without a second thought.

Customer Support : 5
No contact, I do all my own work, even on my new expensive guitars.

Overall Rating : 8
Iv'e been playing for 39 years, I own to much gear to list. If it was lost or stolen I would try to get a gibson korina sg, but if I couldn't afford the gibson I would buy another epi korina and hotrod
it all over again. My favorite feature is that it's made from Korina Wood.

An Epi copy of a 61 Gibson SG. If you like the 61-Re issue but can't afford the $1200-$1500 price tag then buy one of these. The neck on this model is close to the Gibby R.I., not to thin and not to chunky like on the standard models. Looks great too!

Sound : No Opinion
The stock humbuckers are musical sounding and do a great job of getting your all around humbucking tones. You can get clean jazzyness to chugga chugga high gain and all that falls between. It all depends on how you manipulate the guitars controls, pedals you use and the kind of amp your running it all through. People that specialize in only one or two styles of music might want throw something in there to better cover the "focus" of there musical style but for a little bit of everything the stockers are fine.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Bought used so have no clue about factory set-up. I have given it a couple of set ups since buying it and everything went nice and smooth. The guitar itself is well made. Inlays are tight, nut is cut nice, everything lines up well. Control knobs are on the cheap side, but I dont care.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
A solid, dependable guitar. Stays in tune. No intonation/ tunning problems or anything else associated with SG type guitars. The gold finish is wearing off here and there on the hardware from use.....big deal

Overall rating is high. I can get all the tones I could ever want out of this guitar. This guitar is at home playing old electric blues (Reed-Muddy-Hooker-Hopkins) all the way up to todays ultra high gain material. The jazz flavor is there if needed too! All thos e tones in a light guitar with full access neck. Be forwarned though that this guitar has all the weaknesses of any SG you will find in any price range. Yes it is headstock heavy and yes you may have problems keeping it in tune because of how the neck and body come together (ease up with that vice grip fret hand, its not a strat) and yes you will prol' have to try a few befor you get a good one. Once you find that "good one" though It is gonna be hard to go back to playing any other kind of guitar.

It was made in 2001, in Korea, Korina body, flamed maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, perfect transparent finish. Two gold covered humbuckings. etc.

In a Fender Frontman 25 R -solid state bright amp - The amp setting was Treble 9, Midle 9 Bass 5. In clean chanell the sound is rich and full but dark and muddy. Very mellow, no bright. With distortion is better and I can obtain more bright and articulate sound. With the factory setting the Raiting is 5. Epiphone quality
I like to play rock and blues, and I was disappoited with the muddy sound, I was read in many pick up makers web-sites that the brass pick up covers attenuate some armonics and loss quality.
Finally I decided to remove the gold metalic covers and now the sound is far better, retain the full and rich sound but more articulate and bright. Now my amp settint is treble 5- midle 5- bass 4. The sound is more versatile.
If you are dicided to change the pick ups, try this and save your money. Now I have Gibson quality.

My sg korina is a 2001 dent and scratch item. 22 frets, two gold covered humbuckers, 3 way toggle switch. Tune o matic tail piece.stock tuners.

I give this a 7 because it is a good platform to build upon.

Sound : 10
I absolutley love this guitar. I had a Gibson SG and sold it because It never worked for me. I picked up this thing used and have loved it. I bought it because it looked so cool. I on't relaly care about the sound so much. The crappier the better if you ask me. WHy should guitars sound so perfect?

I use a sovtek mig-50 and a fender dt-412 cabinet. I put 9's on th guitar hoping for a less bass heavcy sound that sg's are known for. I like the ring of it with the 9's.

I used to use lots of pedals to get the overdrive I want, but this guitar really drives my amp well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I got this guitar off of ebay from someone else who made a few minor aesthetic mods to it. I put the ernie ball 9's on, lowered the action and it's great. The bridge pickup goes out on my some. I think it has to do with the toggle switch. Maybe I'll replace that.
The guitar came with a sanded finish. It looks so warm and golden now. All other Korina sg's look like honey mustard. gross! This one has had the gloss finish sanded off, and there are several places where the wood is worn down past the finish completely. That's why I bought the guitar. It was unique. THe ugly black washer on the toggle switch has been removed, and the original knobs (tone and volume) have been replaced with gold speed knobs. It look so classic. I thought it was an old gibson sg at first.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar has done well for me other than the neck pickup going out when AI toggle the switch too fast. I found this out in the middle of a show and had to stay on the neck [ickup for the rest of the time. THis is my main guitar along with an old mid 70's epiphone coronet that is also natural wood finish with gol dhardware.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never called Epiphone.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 5 years. This is my 10th guitar. If this guitar were stolen I would be sad. It looks so classic. BUt I have other guitar sto use though. I would most certainly find another cheap sg though.

This little baby will scream the hell out of a marshall amp, when put right into overdrive. I normally play hard rock like scorpions and some time i play slash riff and even though slash uses a lez paul i think it sounds cool through this baby...
if you are a rocker well hang on two your seats beacuse this guitar is going to kick your ass...
i had a fender tele and this guitar i think beats the shit out of it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the finish is nice and shiny and give alot of what the guitars capeable of just by looking at it.
the Korian wood makes a difference but not a huge amount.
The G-400 huge frets will be good for people with fast fingers and is quite comfy.

Reliability/Durability : 9
this guitar can withstand a shit load of torcher and i would say it 96% durable.

I never try to get this guitar repaired because i talk a good care of it. But ive hered storys about it's pic up and a have to say there a little doggy but there kick ass in a way and its okay if you want to get them changed but i dont see the point.

Overall Rating : 10
Ive had this guitar for about 9 months and ive been a pro for 2 years and in those 9 months ive loved and cherished the guitar.
I only wish if i could repice the pick board to a full one but i guess a half is ok..and it could of been a bit heveyer.
if i lost this baby i would kick somebodys ass but if i had the money i would buy it again. I would compare this guitar to a gibson sg standerd but i would be lying this guitar is a kick ass guitar for the money if you are in the U.S itwould cost about $381.

I just have to say this is alot of guitar for the money if you love sg's well heres your chance i may not be a gibson but its a impresive little guitar epiphone has really out done it self.
this guitar ROCKs enjoy...

The G400 I purchased is a spectacular electric guitar. Although guitar that has a "made in korea" label on the back of the headstock somehow indicates the workmanship are less competitive than "u.s made" but, after i pick up this guitar and plug it in to the amp and play, man, i can tell you that this Korina wood body solid top guitar just sounds incredible! with two volume control, gibson alnico mag pick up and factory setup can easily knock out those luxury guitar.

I play Doom/Stoner metal (I hate using the term "Stoner"...think Electric Wizard and Saint Vitus, not *gag* Fu Manchu) and this guitar handles it sufficiantly. My rig consists of an Orange Graphic 120 head and a Green 4x12 with Fane speakers. For effects, I've got a Roland Fuzz/Wah and a Dunlop Jimi Hendrix wah. No noise gates or parametric EQs or any of that bullshit.

I'm not a big gear freak. I like my stuff old, used, battered, and most of all, CHEAP. I like the Epiphone because it's one less thing that I have to worry about. It's not a $3200 custom Jackson that I have to worry about breaking. It sounds fine, keeps tune fine, and looks good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The usual for a $600 guitar. The action was a little too low and the nut was a crap. A little tweaking and a nice new brass nut fixed that. The pickups sounded very good, but even if they had been real Gibsons, they bridge one would've been swapped with a DiMarzio Super 3.

I don't notice any flaws, but then again I didn't look. I don't care. I just play the fucking thing.

The tuners were fine. no problem.

This is my main gigging axe. No problems so far. It's gotten alot of playing, and the finish seems to be holding up.

A good axe for anyone not wanting to fork out for a Gibson. But, I must add, if you have the cash for this guitar, just buy the Gibson Faded SG.

If it were stolen, I'd just do what I always do when some fucker steals my property. I'd get it back in a violent way. :)

this is a 2001 korina sg. traditional 2 volume 2 tone knobs, 2 humbuckers and a 3 way selector. what makes this guitar different is that the body is made of korina. made in some guitar sweat shop in korea. this sg has a fat fuckin' neck that for me took some time to get used to, i have been playing a epi flying v and a hamer both with pretty thin necks. but i am used to it now, and i am starting to prefer the fat neck.

the tuners are pretty good. they hold tune better than any epi's i have seen before. i know a lot of people don't like the epi tuners, me included. i guess it like luck of the draw cause i own 2 epi's and one has shitty tuners and the ones on this one are pretty good.

Sound : 9
i play mostly hardcore thrash PUNK, this guitar works great for me. i don't have a whole lot of money to buy an actual 61' reissue SG(i hate the full pick guards) by gibson is out of the question so i got the epi to get the look and sound for 1/3 of the price of a gibson. i use this guitar staight into a fender M-80 head with and AVATAR 4x12 cab. it sounds perfect for what i play most of the time. it produces a rich chunky heavy tone with an ability to switch over to a cleaner classic rock sound by rolling back on the volume knob. i find by messing around with the knobs you can get a ton of different sounds withough pesky foot pedal set ups. i can go from extreme hardcore thrash to garage punk to the who by just tweaking the knobs.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i got this guitar from bluer music in tennessee, you guys rule. this guitar was completely setup by them perfectly. intonation was perfect the pick up hieght perfect the strings were at the perfect hieght. the fish on these korina wood gutars is the coolest they look like no. 2 pencils, very beautiful golden colour. i am almost affraid to play it the way i do my others, in fear of scratching it all to hell.

the only beef i have with this guitar is that the neck wieght is very inproportioned to the body. the neck is maple(i think) the body is korina. and the korina is just so light it makes it kind of wierd.

Reliability/Durability : 8
i have had this guitar for a 5 days, but i have played non stop probaby allready have about 20 to 25 hours on it allready. so with that in mind i can only assume that it will age well. it looks like it will. the electronics are well put together. there is absolutly no static in the knobs or switch. the strap button are solid as fuck. i have this exact same style of buttons on another guitar i have and i have been known to toss in the back yard a time or two and strap has never slipped off. if you don't know what a guitar toss is, it when you throw your guitarover your shoulder it swings behind your back and you catch when it comes back around.

it has gold hardware, somthing i have never been to fond of untill i got this guitar. gold plating weres off pretty easily and quickly, tha t for one reason i don't care for it. the other reason is the shear tackyness of gold, can you say MR. T. but it goes really well with this guitars finish.

i have only been playing for about a year. i picked up playing pretty latecopared to most, at 19. if this guitar guitar were stolen i would be kinda pissed since it sounds and plays so well i would call up the guys at bluer music were i got it and get another g-400 probly a black finish one. i have always been a fan of the SG style back even before i knew what a SG was. i knew angus played them, and there was one on the inside record sleeve to BAD RELIGION's SUFFER album, and that Ian Mackaye of FUGAZI plays SG's and he is some one i draw a lot of ispiration from so in some futile attempt this is me trying to be him i guess.

this guitar is a lot more versitile than others i own. its the only one i own the sperate knobs for the bridge and neck pick ups, and thats what i like most about it.

in the year i have been playing i have aquired a lot of cheap and crappy gear, that is quickly filling my room to were its petty hard to do a whole lot. this is now my numro 1 player. it surpasses my epi flying v even though it has emg pick ups not the stock epiphone ones. this guitar is just flat out better.

i would give this an overall rating of 9, just for the sound to price ratio, i don't think you can find a better guitar for cheaper than what i payed. i personally have not played a better guitar under 800 dollars that even rivals this guitar.

Made in 2000 in Korea, Korina wood body with gold hardware. 2 standard "Gibson Designed" epiphone humbuckers.

Sound : 7
I play (try to) mostly heavy rock/metal, which this is good for, I use a Rocktek practice amp. The guitar generally sounds good, although, the tone pots on both pickups are noisy when turned. I tried to clean them with WD-40 but to no avail. I'm gonna get them changed. The neck pickup is fine, round sound, and mellow, the bridge pickup is ok, but a little tinny. I'm getting my DiMarzio X2N fitted soon, and I will get a suitable neck replacemrnt to mactch it. I use Dean Markley Signature Series strings (MED 11-52) and they rock on this guitar, they are now my favoured strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was well set up when I bought it as the shop had given it a once over already. I haven't had the need to adjust the pickups, but if I did, its simple. The finish on this thing was amazing. Absolutley no flaws or anything, super-flat laquer and gorgeous amber Korina wood. The only thing is those pesky tone pots.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have neve played live so I dunno. The gold on the hardware is wearing off, but I kinda like the 'antiqued' look of the silver coming through. It is a very tough guitar though, I think it will last a very long time. Hardly ever goes out of tune - don't listen to what everyone says about those tuners, they are fine, and I dont mind the greenish tinge to them.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never ever dealt with them. If there was a problem, I'd take it back to the shop where I got from and play hell with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I do love this guitar very much for a number of reasons.
1) It is built like a freaking tank, and the finish is excellent.
2) It has a very good sound for the money, just watch for those pots!
3) It has to be the most unique SG there is, even the sound (because of the Korina wood) is different from the standard Epi SG's.

I chose this guitar because everyone has an Epi Les Paul, I wanted something different but with a good sound. Also, how heavy are those Les Pauls? Jesus, you'd have to be a weight lifter to have that hanging round your neck. The G400 is light as a feather and can take abuse. Stolen? Yeah, I'd probably get another, but I'd be checking the pots, and I'd be changing the pickups too. That aside, its a very good guitar.

It's a beautiful guitar. The korina wood sounds great!
The neck is relatively fat.

I use a line 6 flextone plus (recommended). I like the sound. It has a warm bluesy tone. The stock pu's are kinda weak. My friend has a epi junior sg with duncan pu's. the new pick ups make it sound awsome. When I get some cash, I'm getting some seymoure duncans.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
I had to smooth out the bridge teeth so my strings wouldnt get cut every week. The tuners are too sensitive.

Reliability/Durability : 7
overall the construction is good. The gold plating on the hardware is cheap and is starting to wear off after only one year.
The Output plug always comes loose even when tightened down.

Ive owned it for a year. I'll either get new pickups for this guitar or sell it to my friend and buy a prs Santana SE. It's a good value for 350 . It's a solid starter guitar, better than a standard strat in my opinion. be ready to replace the pickups if you get this guitar.
Value is it's strong point.
looks like the Prs Santana SE. has better value.

I'm not sure of the year and place, but it's within 1 to 2 years old. All the features are the same as everyone else has already said. 4 knobs, gold hardware, stop tailpiece, and all that good stuff. The reason it's an 8 is because the tuners aren't the highest quality, but they're a hell of a lot better than people keep complaining about. For a sub $400 price, i'm not going to complain. They move smoothly, and I don't have a problem with them staying in tune. The other reason it's not a 10 is because on the pickups, the gold finish wears off. But I don't really care. It's still one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen, and I look around a lot.

Sound : 10
I play rock of all kinds meaning with and without distortion and funky effects, and a little blues. This guitar sounds great! I have played through 2 peavey 100 watt amps, a peavey 200 watt; a Laney hard core series 60? watt, and a fender stage amp. They all sound extremely nice. It doesn't go as bright as a strat, but it can come close. It screams when you want it to, and it also booms. It is a very versatile guitar. A friend of mine who has been playing for about 7 years, owns a Fender Strat that he paid $700+ dollars for(which means that it is a good Strat, not a crappy one) loves this guitar. He recently did a concert and used it for all of the Cream songs he was covering. The only problem I notices was that the B string is kind of hard to get into perfect tune, but that is a minor one, and this guitar deserves the 10 I'm giving it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
As I already said, this guitar looks awesome. Looks aren't all that count though. The action wasn't to my liking, it was way too high for what I wanted, but that was easily fixed by loosening the #4#%? screw on the headstock under the plate. It's an alan wrench screw, and it only needed minor adjustment, and now the action is perfect. The bridge was fine, but I noticed someone else had a problem with strings breaking. This is probably because the bridge notches need to be filed a little more, so if you have that problem, try that. Everything else was great except for the stupid stickers they put on the pickups. It left this sticky s*#t on the hardware that was a pain in the butt to get off.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Here is the one category that I have a minor problem with. The bridge pickup goes out periodically, and I'm not sure if it's the switch or the pickup. Truthfully, it almost never happens so I've been too lazy to investigate it properly. I'm going to try messing w/ the switch, or taking a look at the pickup and maybe clean it out or something. Other than that, this guitar is wonderful.

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't needed it...no problems

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 8 months now, and this is the only electric guitar that I own. But I have played some others and heard other people who are better than me play mine, and I can honestly say that this is a very good guitar, especially for the price. If it were lost or stolen, and I had the money, I would definitely get this guitar again. But I hear that Epiphone is a little hit and miss sometimes, meaning that their product isn't always a consistent quality. But that's just what I've heard. Sevaral people, including myself thing that this guitar sounds better through just an amp better than any of the similarly priced, and sevaral of the more expensive competition. The only thing I wish it had are smaller frets, because they allow you to play a little faster, but that's just what I think. Other than that, my experience with this guitar has been nothing but good, and if you get one, I hope yours is too. Because its such a beautiful guitar, that it would be a travesty if it wasn't.

Features : 7
This is an Epiphone G-400 with a Korina body and mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. It's a kind of yellow-ish colour with a white pickguard. There are the usual SG controls and features (2 volume, 2 tone, 3 way pickup selection, tune-o-matic bridge) The hardware is gold coloured, but it is already starting to turn silver after about a year. The tuners are the shitty plastic ones they put on Epiphones and low end Gibsons, I've had to replace two cos they keep snapping. The neck is a fucking tree trunk, i've always played Fenders (slim necks) before this and I find it really uncomfortable at certain postions on the fretboard.

Sound : 7
The style of music I most play is punk and hard/classic rock. It copes pretty well with most stuff, the neck pickup sounds quite weak and I would probably replace it (and maybe the bridge one?) if I had more cash I would replace them. I play through a Peavey Rage with the following effects- a digitech RP7 multi-effects thingy or a Boss DS-1, Boss Flanger, and a Boss Overdrive pedal. I've got no real problems with the sound, you get what you pay for, but compared to real Gibsons it does sound cheap.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I don't know how good it was set up at the factory, I bought it when it was 3 months old second hand. The pickups needed adjusted slightly, the bridge on was set far too high. The frets are well rounded, and I have no major concerns about the way the guitar is constructed, except those shitty tuning pegs. The only problem I have is about how the guitar is weighted- when worn with a strap the headstock constantly hanging lower than the body.

Reliability/Durability : 6
I don't know if I would play without a backup, seems kind of flimsy. The finish on the hardware will last no more than 6 months max. The finish on the guitar seems solid enough- no noticeable dings or scratches. The bottom strap button is also loose (currently held on with black tape) due to the top heavy nature of the guitar.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for about 2 years, and out of all the shitty guitars I've had this is the best. Don't think I would replace it if lost or stolen though. Looking back, I wish I had held off and got a Mexican Standard Strat. Overall the guitar is OK, don't get me wrong, it looks nice enough and the sound is alright, but I think there are too many stupid thins that bug me about it- like the weight and the tunin pegs. I think it's time to move on now and sell this and buy the Strat.

Standard SG features... two humbuckers, tone control on both ect ect... I think the wood, though, changes the sound just enough to set it slightly apart from other epiphone SG's.

Sound : 8
I run it through VOX wha>BOSS CS-3 comp.>Big Muff Pi>Small Stone>Line6 delay>'87 Marshall JCM 800 and it sounds great. I would definitly recomend this over a few low end Gibsons, (a FEW) and it works well for all kinds of styles (I am a big pumpkins fan and it works fine for that).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Intonation didn't come too well and I had to fix it myself. Also the tuners on it really suck and get stuck (especially on the g string). The only other problem i had was with the bridge pickup cutting out (but I just cleaned the inside a bit and it was fixed). other than that, it's been a reall great addition to my collection.

Reliability/Durability : 7
The Korina has been very sturdy these past few years and I have giged with it fine. I just worry abotu it though, because it is a very beautiful guitar. The gold has worn off of the pickups a bit as well.

i believe this guitar was made in 2000. It was made in korea and then shipped to britain. The guitar has 22 jumbo frets which are seated perfectly. This guitar has the usual sg layout with a volume and single tone control for each humbucking pickup and the threeway pickup selector. The pickups are the same as used on the usa gibson models and use the same alnico magnets. The body is made of two pieces of the aforementioned korina and the neck is made of maple which in theis particaular case is slightly flamed. it has a tune-o-matic bridge and epiphone reissue tuners. The neck is lovely and thick but not chunky enough to be called clubby. the guitar came with a free cable.

Sound : 8
I play all types of music from jazz to punk and it seems to cope admirrably in all genres, although it does seem to lend itself to the heavier side of music particulary well it's perfect for chugging out those single and double note riffs as well as thumping out power chords. The pickups on this example give crystal clear string definiton partially at the expense of a lower output than some guitars. Which is why i advise changing the stock pickups if your into the heavier side of music as i have done. The band i play in are mostly a punk band which the guitar caters excellently for which when pushed gives a full angry sound like a jack russell barking in your face!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
for the majority of people i am sure the set up would have been fine it had a low action and played in tune all the way up the neck (as a proper guitar should)and the pickups were in just the right place. However i prefer a higher action than most and i use heavier guage strings than the average guitarist so a few adjustments had to be made. Also after a week of having the guitar the pickup selector went dead on me but it was nothing 5 minutes with a soldering iron couldn't fix.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I would never gig any guitar without a backup although i'm sure this little beast will never let me down during a performance as it hasn't yet. The guitar is as sturdy as any other i've seen and played and the hardware looks as if it wiil last the goldplating will wear of but thats an added bonus making your guitar look like it's had one hell of a life.

i have been playing for near on 3 years and its pefect for the music i play which is rowdy in your face punk i own a laney vc30 which on it's own can't be classed as a punk like amp but put it with a marshall guvnor and your talking one angry sound. If the guiatr were stolen or lost i would buy the real thing a gibson standard but i would replace the stock pickups for my favoured seymour duncan invader. i compared it many guitars and compared to the thinner sounding strats and teles this was a winner in my book

- SG body (pieced-together Korina wood)
- Set SG-style neck (rosewood board), fast and smooth...
- 2 humbuckers... neck strong, bridge a bit thin...
- 3 way selector switch
- one volume, one tone
- ABR bridge
- White '61 SG Standard style 2-piece pick guard
- "Gold" hardware
- CHeapy Epiphone tuners

Sound : 8
I play blues. Bought the guitar after one year of playing, because I wanted a break from the P-90 in my LP Junior now and again. Neck PUP sounded pretty good... you could play dirty, bluesy leads with it... great sustain! The bridge PUP was a bit thin and underpowered, though. I sold the guitar, but would have replaced the PUPS if I'd kept it. Sounded smooth and warm played clean.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
- Action was too high and strings too flimsey, so I had the guitar set-up to suit my needs at the dealership.
- Some flaws in the workmenship of the body finish; there was a polyurethane run by the neck with a little spot of discoloration
- Saw dust piled up under the edge of the pick guard... I took off the pick guard and cleaned it, of course
- 3-way selector switch would intermittently malfunction when selecting the bridge PUP... I finally got the "feel" of how to "work it" to get it to activate the circuit... just a little annoying
- Guitar hung "head stock down" when worn with a strap... it was out of balance. E-mailed Gibson, and they assured me the Gibson SGs wouldn't do that, but offered no explanation for mine. If I'd kept the guitar, I probably would've moved the strap button from the back of the guitar to the tip of the top horn to try to get it to balance.
- Tuners... replaced them with Grovers before I decided to sell the guitar. The stock tuners were okay, though. I think I just wanted to see gold keys as opposed to the white plactic one's that came with the guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I don't play live, but if I did, I'd bring a back up. The neck is a little on the thin side (compared to my Telecaster), but I'm pretty sure it would survive a minor fall. No strap locks, so I'd be careful. A friend of mine had a G-400 he dropped abd he lost a tuning key is all.

Customer Support : 6
Dealt with Gibson only a few times... sometimes they answer my inquires, and sometimes they don't. I sent two in the other day and only got back one.

Overall Rating : 8
If lost, I would not have replaced it. If I'd kept it, I would've replaced PUPS, Tuners, Switch... AND I'd still have to live with the cosmetic flaws and out-of-balance condition. It was a great looking guitar with a lot of little flaws I didn't care to live with (no major problems, though). I sold the G-400 and eventually bought a Fender American Series Fat Tele. The Tele is perfect! Don't get me wrong... I think Epiphone is a good company, and would consider their upper-end Les Pauls (custom flametop, '56 goldtop...) or signature models (John Lennon Casino, John Lee Hooker Sheraton, etc) in the future. If you are a quality conscious person, give the Epi your considering a very careful inspection before bringing it home. If cosmetics aren't an issue with you, you may be right at home.

Korean made copy of the original 1961 Gibson Les Paul Signature model...which shortly became known as the SG after Mr. Paul asked that his name be removed from the guitar. Standard Gibson style humbuckers in the bridge and neck position, three way selector switch. Hardware was that fake gold crap that I'm sure will wear off shortly. The body is made of Korina and suprisingly, is very attractive looking. The pictures you see in magazines really don't do these guitars justice. The neck is maple with a rosewood fret board, inlays in the neck and headstock are very nicely done. Frets are medium sized, and like most Gibsons, the neck is about as thick as a Louisville Slugger. Basically this guitar has everything you look for in a Gibson style guitar.

Sound : 9
I mostly play blues-rock. In the hands of people like Eric Clapton, Angus Young, Gary Rossington, Duane Allman and a long list of others, the SG practically helped invent blues-rock. I am running this guitar through a Boss Super-Overdrive, Boss Flanger and Morley Bad Horsie Wah into a 50 watt Blue Voodoo head and a 4x12 Blue Voodoo slant face cab. There is a Tech 21 Comptortion in the effects loop as a lead boost. The guitar growls, it sings, it screams...all around solid guitar with damn near perfect tone. I did the set up myself so it plays very comfortably. Never overly bright or excessively muddy. Of course, that is partially a matter of adjusting your amp to match the guitar. I will be the first to admit, I was shocked at how well it played and how good it sounded. If Epiphone keeps this up, they may just steal my business from Gibson.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I did the set up myself. These guitars are genrally very easy to manipulate and set up the way you like them. I notice they have fianlly started putting a decent nut on these guitars, which was a relief. Epiphone is notorious for putting crappy nuts on their guitar...this one was perfect. Once I had the action where I like it, everything else was perfect. I do wish the neck was slightly slimmer. In the past I have played some SG's and Nighthawk's that had slimmer necks. They are just a little more comfortable. But, no big deal...

Reliability/Durability : 8
I haven't had this one long, but I believe it will be rather durable. The only down side is the gold plating will eventually wear off, I'm sure. I would have just preferred the chrome hardware instead. But for now its very classy looking.

Customer Support : 9
Never dealt with Epi...Gibson was very helpful a couple of years ago when I had to deal with them on another guitar. I will give them the benefit of the doubt...

Overall Rating : 9
I have been a professional for about 10 years now. I favor Gibson products above any other. I must say, I am extremely impressed with this guitar. this is actually the second Epiphone I have purchased and again, the quality was outstanding. Quite frankly, I don't even own a Gibson that plays or sound any better than my Epiphones. At this point, I'm not sure I will ever even purchase a Gibson again, unless I run into a vintage model that I want simply for collector's value. Unfortunately, I simply cannot justify the difference in cost. BE FORWARNED...there is one thing you must keep in mind when shopping for an Epiphone...actually two things: 1)stay away from the bolt on neck models. They aren't worth the time you'll spend to tune them up, and the tone is the worst. Those guitars are the bottom of the barrel guitars with little or no quality control. 2)play several Epiphones and pick the one that you like most. If you just pick one up and hand it to the salesman to ring up, you take a risk. These guitars are stamped out by the thousands over in Korea. While I commend them for building such a fine product, when you are making them as fast as they do, some crappy one slip through the cracks. Take your time... http://crackerbilly.homestead.com

Made in 97 I think from Korea. This is Epiphone's SG but made of African Korina wood and with gold hardware and rosewood finger board. It comes with 2 gold covered humbuckers and 2 tones and 2 volume knobs as well as a 3-way pickup selector. The tuners look like gibson ones with the plastic turners, however, I don't believe they're that quality.

Sound : 3
I bought this guitar as a backup guitar to my rickenbacker and tele.
I play indie rock with a dose of 60's lounge/elevator/coctail/porn music. I hoped this would fit in. Eventually this mud machine annoyed me to the point that I never used it. The pickups are not at all good as they have zero definition and sound like mud. The best was having both pickups on - this had a decent chime, but the neck pu on it's own sounded poor and mushy and the bridge pu was clangy. Not nice.

What I decided to do was to fuck with it a bit - use it as my toy (my rating is for how this guitar sounded as stock). I had an old gibson P-90 hanging around from a les paul and a dimarzio chrome covered PAF classic. I squeezed the P-90 in the neck position and put the PAF in the bridge. It looks disastrous now but sounds amazing. This guitar does have an interesting and nice tone - you can hear it acoustically. Now with the P-90, it sounds a bit like a Les Paul Jr but not exactly...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Finish is quite attractive, but being light coloured, you loose the angry SG look. The factory set up was fine and it actually has a good feel. Fat neck. Mmmmm.

Reliability/Durability : 5
This guitar's going Ok except the pickup selector is already dying and I have not yet been bothered to get it fixed yet. Also the gold plating won't last long but that dosn't bother me. Otherwise not too bad.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea. I'm sure they're nice people with family and friends...

Overall Rating : 5
This is not a great guitar. No sir. You NEED to replace the pickups. Anything will be better - Gibson, Dimarzio, Seymour Duncans. It will sound great with decent pickups, they really pull out the guitars natural sound which I must say is EXTREMELY unique. This is it's one redeaming feature. Problem: it will probably fall apart. Hey, it's epiphone. It's not even good Epiphone, although it does have a glue on neck. Get it and expect some work, otherwise get a Gibson or a 70's Ibinez copy.

Brand new Korean made guitar. Your basic SG. I give it a 5 because it doesn't have many features. This is good. I reviewed the Korina V and Explorer and gave them the same rating here.

I love playing blues and hard rock/metal. It's no wonder Tony Iommi uses one of these things. It sounds great. Thick and gritty. I was surprised. My Korina V and Explorer sound great too, but the pickups on those 2 guitars suck. These pickups are just fine. Go figure.

I've been playing for way too long. I've owned dozens of guitars in price ranges from $150 to $4,000. Price doesn't mean jack. All that matters is the guitar. Is it playable and does it sound good. This one is both. I bought this guitar to complete my Trilogy Of Terror Collection. I now own all 3 Epiphone korina guitars. I'm satisfied with all 3 of them. The money saved by not buying the Gibsons will be well spent on fine tuning these instruments.

/-this guitar is perfect for hardcore, blues, (classic-)rock, desert rock, (nu-)metal and punk stuff/-I'm using a marshall jcm900 hi-gain series 100w for it and sometimes a peavey rage158, but with the marshall you can do really everything you want to do with it, it has got such a rich sound and it really brings the best distorted sound i've ever heard, but if you prefer playing clean than I wouldn't use this guitar, because it's to rich/-if you play the guitar withpout a amp it's already quite loud and it vibrates a lot which makes the sound when it is plugged in too/- i don't like the rythm/neck pickup sound to much, ui just play it when I play clean, because by using the treble/bridge pickup clean it's to silent and "soundless"/-you ve got the variety of rich (wonderful sound) and tooooo rich when it's distorted and soundless and pretty rich when you play it clean/-you hear every hit in the guitar, and you can achieve pretty good dirty sounds by playing the right way, but in my opinion it's too rich/-if I've to play unplugged, I like to play the g400 korina much more than any other acoustic guitar, its vibration and sound is really unbelievable/

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
/-fawk! this guitar is a real string killer, minimum 1 string per week, that's true/-and there is to much weight on the head: I had to put stones on the strap (2.425pounds)/-the pickups were set up right, i can't say anything more/-there was nothing wrong with the setup of this guitar and it was perfect manufactured/

Reliability/Durability : 9
/-right now I've got a little problem with the neck pickup: sometimes you can turn down the volume of the pickup but it is still working, don't ask me why/-i had no problems playing a gig with this guitar, maybe i had to take some extra-strings with me, but you always have to/-the finish is really solid: once it (really) crashed against the wall and there is just a little cut in cut in the finish/-the strap buttons are ok, maybe a way to small/

Overall Rating : 10
/-I'm playing for one and a half years now and this is my second guitar/-I think i would cry for 3 months when it was stolen or lost, it's ma baby, I think I wouldn't buy it again, coz I think I already got the best manufactured g400 korina in the ehole world/-I like it much more than the Gibson SG's because they don't sound so "wild", don't have got the vibration and the neck of the Gibson's is to thick/-It would be great if there was a guitar in the world that is a mix of sg and fender jaguar and fender mustang(so I'm thinking bout buying a Fender JAG-STANG :-) )

Korina Solid body, 2 Gold Plated Humbuckers, Medium-Thin neck, 2 Tone 2 Volume knobs. Fixed/Slide-off Bridge, When strings are taken off the back of the bridge slides back. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, 6-String. 3 way pickup toggle switch, Rhythm, middle, Treble

Sound : 10
Sounds great, I play mostly rock and Punk and when I have the volume on 7 and the tone on full treble with the toggle switch to treble it gives enough grunge to kill a cow.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is great, with D'Addario .09's bends can be pulled up to 2 steps up. Bridge is on prefect, pickups were well adjusted when I bought it, but to get more grunge I raised the neck pickup a little higher. It has put up with me for a long time, only problem I had was when the nut broke, but that was a simple $20 repair, and nuts don't last forever. sometimes the treble switch won't give much sound in treble, but I just give it a little tap and it works...that's probably just mine, it didn't do it until I while after I had it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Reliable? YEA, Durable, oh yea. I used to tote this thing to school, so it can get pretty ruff on a bus. I have gotten it dropped about 3 times, but it's not bad at all, a SMALL chip on the top, but it's more of a dent. Dependable? that too, sure I'd use my baby on a gig without a backup, in fact, I have. I had a string break once, but I just played right through. The neck is very sturdy so the intonation didn't change when it lost part of the tension. Strap buttons are good, but I took mine off and replaced then with bottle caps to permanantly keep the strap on, I had a few cases where the strap would fall off at times though. The finish has lasted since I got it, and it's still on there perfect. Yes, it withstands live playing, I've done it, she hasn't failed me yet. The Hardware is also great and has never failed

Customer Support : 10
Very friendly, I got a part replaced for free under the store I bought it from, just a $20 labor charge, and it wasn't under warranty anymore. The factory warranty I think is either 3 yrs or lifetime.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for almost 3 years, and ever since I got the Korina everyone has said I'm ALOT better. If it ws stolen? I'd find the guy who stole it and kick his @$$ I love it, I have seen some cooler guitars, but I love this one just the same. I only wish it had some nifty lights on it so I could play in the dark! but I do have some glow in the dark spraypaint that I used a little on to help illuminate it, it comes off with windex and a rag.

think it was made in 1999. based on early 60's sg design with smaller pickgaurd but with new korina body. 2 humbuckers designed by gibson 2 tone and 2 volume controls. gold hardware. tuneomatic bridge

Sound : 8
i play a variety of styles mostly rock and blues. i think this guitar is versatile enough for me. i find it quite bright and jangly and like it a lot for 50's rock. it's also good distorted. i have a lot of fun when it's distorted actually. for some things i find it's a good idea to back off the on the treble volume and tone or high eq (on amp) because it can be a bit bright. but i like that it's got plenty bite.
i use it for rhythm and lead also play a bit of classical with it just for fun. been experimenting with a glass slide and it sounds pretty good. I play this guitar more with my fingers than i woulud another guitar- to soften the sound for some styles. Also varying the pick thickness makes a difference. it's an individual thing really. the guitar you choose gives you your own unique sound to whatever you play. don't be bound by convention. currently using a 15 watt peavey rage amp with it in my room. it's alright. but i've played it through a 60 watt marshall and loved it. so when i can afford another amp this guitar will be even more versatile.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This guitar was set up well. i changed the strings to my favourites and it's fine. i would have liked binding on the headstock but u get what u pay for. the plastic heads on the tuners kind of make me nervous (in case i break them) but they look ok and u get what u pay for. appart from this the appearance is everything i've looked for.
The fit is as sgs go. kind of annoying at first because it hangs funny. but now i'm used to it there's no problem. i have it slung quite high and rest my forearm on the guitar as i play. you can still get power like this. i like the easy access to the higher frets and the neck feels good. This is also a light guitar and once you get the position right, easy to play standing up.

Reliability/Durability : 8
yeah it seems durable except 4 the plastic tuner heads and minimal binding. i've had this guitar three months and have averaged around 2hrs of playing a day. i'm careful with it because i like the thing but i do play it hard and it's taken everything i've thrown at it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with

Overall Rating : 10
i've been playing 9 years. this is my 2nd electric guitar. i had a squire (fender) stat before (along with my acoustics) when choosing i tried out mainly les pauls. compared to the les pauls i found the sg easier to play because it's smaller and lighter. Also it sounds better than my strat (wanted something fatter) i would like a tremolo arm (some g models have them)but all in all i love the thing. it's simple, suites my playing, looks good and feels good. i would gig with it because it is very me. if i had a back up it would be my acoustic (the only other guitar i am really comfortable with) if it were lost i would go nuts. if it were stolen i would not rest until i caught the sorry #@!^&*(~ who took it and did horrible things to them.

Not realy sure where or when it was made but I think it's a '98. It's got 22 frets which is workig out fine for me. 2 tone 2 volume and a 3 way selector and 2 humbuckers(i think thats almost a sentence). Comes w/ a nice Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop bar tailpeice and all of teh hardware is gold.

Sound : 10
Seeing as though I haven't a style i guess it fits the style i dont have pretty well. I use it w/ a Crate-20M amp w/ a 6ft cable and it sounds pretty nice from up close. Bass notes are extremaly good no matter what the tone, volume or humbucker is set for. High notes sound realy good on rythem setting but on the treble are quite quiet.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Umm realy not sure what all that stuff is or means.( its my first electric give me a break)

Reliability/Durability : 9
I think it would withstand live playing havent realy tried harware seems good and if i ever play a gig i would go with out a back up.

never had to use for i've only had the guitar for 4 months

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 2 years and this guitar sounds great it has a beautiful korina SG syled body gold hardware and lost of mother of pearl. If i lost it, broke it, or had it stolen i would replace it as soon as i had the cash.

Well..it does have that gorgeous Korina body....it is rather inexpensive...but that's about all the features it has.

Sound : 8
It has an odd little squeal when distorted without too many mids...but it sounds okay i guess.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
This is the entire reason I submitted a critique. THIS GUITAR CUTS MY STRINGS LIKE A KNIFE. For some reason, it cuts my D string constantly. I have to restring this beast about every two days...i don't beat on it or anything, just the crappiest hardware you could possibly forge and gold plate on this damn thing. Don't buy it, or replace that if you do.

Reliability/Durability : 4
I would never gig without a backup. The string thing listed before makes me down this catagory as well.

Customer Support : 3
I know the CS in the store i purchased it from sucks. They don't even have a pickup selector switch knob that fits it.

Overall Rating : 5
Welp...i've been playing for..hmmm...let's see....16 years now. This guitar is pretty shitty. I wouldn't replace it if it were stolen...if i were to buy another Epiphone guitar, it'd be an Epi Hellcat..just cuz it's cool as shit. I play punk, ska, and surf...so whatever floats the metalhead's boats...cuz i think it fawking sucks.

I believe this was made in Japan. But the Korina wood was imported from Africa, and honeslty i can tell an amazing difference. 22 Frets, all solid body, nice wood stain. Although i would prefer more of a choice in the category of colors.

Sound : 10
This guitar is perfect for my music style which is mostly Smashing Pumpkins. Actually the reason i picked up this guitar was for the reason i saw Billy Corgan using one at a recent show. I used it on both a clean and a tube amp and from what i played it absolutly sung on both Distortion and clean channels.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything was perfect. There was no buzzing at all. There were no flaws in the finish of on the fretboard or anywhere else. Its an incredible guitar.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I can't say because well i only played it in the store the finish looks solid along with everything else.

Customer Support : No Opinion
can't say

Overall Rating : 10
As soon as i can i'm buying this guitar. I already have a Fender Standard American Strat. Which is excellent but this is incredible with both guitars i can vary my sound a lot. Try an SG but i highly recomend this its affordable price tag was $450. The Korina wood honeslty made a difference. I clocked the Sustain at about half a minute with out any break up. BUY IT NOW!!
