Made in China, 2008. Beautiful and Perfect Flame Maple top, all other features are identical to other posts for this model.

Sound : 9
I play Blues and Rock. Seems like the right tool for the job. Very pleased with the sound. No buzzing, lots of sustain on all strings on any part of the fretboard.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action was a little low, the pups were also. Had it set up in the store when I got it. No problems. The book matched flame maple top is Stunning! Had a few tiny scratches on the pick guard but otherwise the rest of the finish is flawless. All of the screws for hardware and electronics and covers were tight. I had read in some reviews that volume and tone pots on these guitars were not very good. I haven't noticed any problems or volume cut-out issues.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar weighs 9 pounds, is well balanced on the strap, it all seems very solid. I'm not likely to ever do a gig and probably won't take it out of the house except for maybe service, if required.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with Epiphone before. Not too concerned about it. However, the customer support at the store was excellent. The guitar was a gift and when I took the original in to have it set-up I saw the flame maple model on display, switched guitars, no hassles. No additional exchange of money, they did the set-up on the spot.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm very happy with this guitar. I wouldn't have spent more than a grand on a guitar but always loved the look of the Les Paul. Gibson was out of the question so the Epi- Les Paul was the obvious choice. I also have a Simon and Patrick Mini Jumbo acoustic and an old beat up Strat. This Les Paul Standard is now my favorite guitar.

This is a chinese made Standard Plus, made in 2009. I don't need to list all the featuers, it's a Les Paul!
But, I will give it a 9 for features 'cos for what I want it's pretty much perfect.

Sound : 10
Here we start to get into why I wanted to write this review. I've recently had to sell a load of my gear due to the recession. I sold my Gibson LP, SG and MM and for a while I was left in the VERY depressing situation of having NO guitars in the house! But I fought my brand snobbery and bought this Epi LP for three hundred pounds. What can I say - Sound wise this compares very favourably with the real thing. No it's not as good as my Gibson was, but it's absoluetly fantastic considering it was thirteen hundred pounds cheaper!
It has all the tone you could want from a Les paul.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Factory set up was ok, but I always like to re-string a new guitar. I often find that far eastern instruments are supplied with dirty fingerboards and strings so a drop of lemon oil and a new set of 10's and this guitar is set-up just fine. Action is nice and low with no buzz. The frets initially felt a little resistant to bending when digging in, but more and more play is proving this is nothing more than a 'playing in' issue.
The hardware is all solid and very well fitted. I might want to change out the pick-ups in the future for something better, but I'll stick with these for now.
The AA top is pefectly bookmatched and the overall finish and workmanship is BETTER, yes I said it, BETTER than my Gibson was. There were a number of minor flaws in the Gibson LP, there are none in the Epi. I've removed the scratch plate and it's a real looker, if it weren't for the headstock no-one would know!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Solid as a rock! I've replaced the strap pins with heavy duty Mavericks, but other than that I have complete faith in this guitar.

I've been playing a few years years, and I've owned a lot of gear including many USA made Gibsons and Fenders. I have to admit I've been a brand/headstock snob, snubbing the Epis and the Mexican Fenders and spending out for a name and a 'USA' on a headstock. Not any more!
Fair enough if you're making your living from playing then buy a US guitar, but if you're playing in pubs or for pleasure PLEASE play one of these before you spend out over a thousand pounds. Yeah you might need to change the pups to suit your sound, but even if you do you'll still be over a grand better off.
So it's made in China by someone who earns a fraction of what a US Gibson employee earns - ask yourself this - Why should that mean they have any less pride in their work?
The Epi LP Standard Plus is as well made if not better made than it's American counterpart. It plays well, sounds good, and certainly looks the part.
Take it from someone who has owned and played both, the Gibson aint worth it!

2007 model. Standard Les Paul features. Gorgeous tobacco sunburst finish. Nice fat 50s style neck. Lightweight but nicely balanced on a strap.

Sound : 8
Sounds good unplugged even, IMO. Stock pickups were 'OK'...but I'm not a big humbucker fan usually (more of a telecaster player). Neck pickup was good but I found the bridge unit muddy sounding. But I liked the guitar so much I tried a few replacements (buying and selling on eBay) and found a set of Dimarzio Virtual Vintage PAFs which really made it a keeper. Clear and almost 'pretty' clean tones, even the bridge pickup. Overdrives great. It now has those wonderful Les Paul sounds you hear on early ZZTop recordings. The woody LP 'bark' played clean and those fat but balanced overdriven tones.

I've gigged it with a Roland Cube60, clean on the JC setting, and through my Fame GTA15 tube amp miced into the PA.

Stock rating 8...with the Dimarzios 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I wasn't impressed with the stock nut or the bridge so I replaced the nut with a TUSQ one and the bridge with a roller one. I figured it would help keep things in tune after bending and lessen the possibility of string breakage. Easier on the hand as well since there are no sharp edges.
I also leveled and polished the frets. They weren't too bad, but they're great now.
Stock setup wasn't great, but I am a bit fussy.
It now compares to pretty well any guitar for playability, I think.

Everything else is fine. Finish, tuners, electrics, etc...

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems well built and tough. I'd gig it on its own.

Played since 1969 and I've been through a lot of stuff. The past decade I've mainly played telecasters, but when I saw this LP up on the wall with that tobacco sunburst finish I was hooked. Played it and found it to be lightweight (about 7.5 pounds) and a don't-want-to-put-this-down sort of guitar. Had the quality feel of a Gibson...not the budget vibe you usually get with an Epiphone. Bought it on the spot. I expected to do some upgrades, but the 'bones' of the guitar were obviously very good. And the end result is Gibson level for a lot less cost.
If I lost it somehow I'd consider another one of this model.

2005 Chinese made model. I have been told that the Chinese models weren't as good as the koreans, but this guitar proves me otherwise. Beautiful Honey Burst Amber Top. The tops are actually two different ones, the right one being a bit deeper looking, but it still looks great!

Sound : 10
Played an Gibson Les Paul Standard then played the epiphone and you really can't tell that much of a difference. SUre their was a difference, but its incredible how close the EPi sounds to the Gibson. Epiphone really is not getting the credit they deserve, these pickups sound great and is very versatile for whatever style you play. Sounds great on clean channel, can have a cool vintage sounds, and even has a good tone for people who like a lot of gain. Overrall great sound for the money.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Well I bought this guitar used so I can't really say how it was originaly. But from what I understand the guy I got it from pretty much never used it. Upon receiving it I lower the action just a tad and it was perfectg. This guitar does not have a single scratch on it and is in prime condition. Good job Epiphone!

Reliability/Durability : 8
Guitar is big and sturdy like any Les Paul. Has mostly solid parts. A few parts such as the pickup holders seem a bit flimsy and i've seen them break before. But it is equipped with Grover Tuners which keep the guitar in tune extremely well. Straps are perfect. And the finish is perfect on my axe, it seems pretty solid to me. I've seen a lot of people gig with this model before and I think it is pretty durable. A backup may or may not be necessary

Customer Support : 10
Gibson looked up my guitar and gave me all the information on it just by the serial number and they did it very quickly. For that I give them a 10.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for about 6 years and used to own a Gibson SG, and for the price and the sound and the look, I honestly like the Epiphone Les Paul better than the Gibson. Yeah I said it. I also bought this guitar for an amazing deal $340 w/ a hardshell case and DS-1 pedal! This guitar is a great purchase for the money and I would suggest to any intermediate or experienced player out there.

2007, made in China, transparent amber, not burst like the old amber Epi LPs. It's got a 2 piece mahogany neck (wish it would be just a tad fatter!), rosewood fretboard (22 frets), 3 piece alder/mahogany body with a maple cap. There's a very beautiful flame maple veener on the top, and a nice mahogany veener on the back. Grover tuners, which work fine, but I plan to change them. 2 Epi humbuckers, 2 vol, 2 tone controls, 3 way switch. Standard tone-o-matic bridge.

Sound : 8
I play blues and rock, and I'm crazy for good vintage Les Paul sounds: early Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Peter Green, and I'm a huge Gary Moore freak. The guitar stock sounded really fine, like a LP should: nice, rounded and fat. Only missed a bit of dynamics and the neck pickup was a bit muddy. Compared it to a Gibson LP Studio, and it sounded really close; only a bit of dynamics were missing. After a year, the bridge pickup started to get microphonic and feedback all the time; so I removed the pickup covers, which solved the problem, and I even gained a bit of treble and dynamics. Also, wired the middle position out of phase, like on the Peter Green Les Paul. Sounds almost exactly the same! So, now it sounds like a Les Paul should, I'm happy with it!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Factory set-up was horrible. Action too high, intonation poor, neck too much releif. It was set-up in the shop, but I couldn't get even a midlle-action without buzz, so I took it to a tech, and I almost got a new guitar: nut cut, frets polished, super-low action, which was raised to my taste of medium, pickups adjusted fine...
Fit & finish on the other hand was very good; this guitar is a beauty! Brutal flame, nice color, inlays and finish is outstanding. Changed the back plates from creme to black - now it looks way cooler!
So altough it's a beautiful guitar, I have to give a low rating because of the poor factory setup.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar can stand anything; played it live and it worked just the way it should. There are some minor tuning problems. I'd gig without a backup with this guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing since a while; I like it very much! It looks beautiful, sounds like a Les Paul, plays very well; but It just ain't a Gibson. For the price, it is a very weel made guitar, but you should take it to a guitar tech after you got it.

2006 Epiphone Les Paul Standard, made in China. Standard features (two humbuckers, four controls, Tune-O-Matic, etc, 22-fret rosewood fretboard with trapezoid pearloid inlays starting at the third fret, 60s profile neck). Body is laminated mahogony, with a carved maple top--this one has a stunning birdseye maple veneer under a transparent amber finish.

Sound : 7
I play progressive pop and classic rock, mostly. I play this through a Zoom G7 modeler (with tube preamp), connected to a Hughes and Kettner 15-watt with Celestion speaker. As this IS an LP, it makes heavy sounds (mostly). Even unplugged, you can hear the substance in the tone, from the wood. Mostly I like this guitar for practicing, but also, when recording, I use this when I'm looking for a heavy rhythm sound. Pups sound great and are more than sufficiently hot. I own three electrics--this one, a MIM standard tele, and a new American standard strat. In terms of "plain" sound quality--what does the guitar sound like unplugged and clean--this LP is between the two Fenders, and closer in overall quality to the American Standard.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Out of the box, this guitar was stunningly beautiful (the birdseye veneer is absolutely stunning), the construction was very, very good. There is one tiny flaw that one little part of the body binding wasn't sanded absolutely perfectly--you can't see it, but you can feel it if you run your finger over it. Also, the action of the 6th string was a little off on the set-up--there was some buzz on the fifth fret--but easy enough to fix with a quick bridge adjustment. Referring to the above paragarph, again, I would place this between the MIM tele and the American strat--and closer to the American strat.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Hardware and finish, etc., seem solid enough. I'd be feel confident on stage with it. I could see performing without a backup

Overall Rating : 8
If this were lost or stolen, I suppose I would either get another Epiphone Standard LP, or I might try out the Gibson Studio line. I'd be rather bummed that I wouldn't be able to replace the birdseye maple top--I got this on closeout (at a bargain--about half the normal street price for a new Epi Standard LP plus top), for such a gorgeous instrument) and wouldn't be able to exactly replace it...

2007, 2 Epiphone Humbuckers over a Mahogany and Maple body with a Maple neck. Grover tuners.

Sound : No Opinion
I play Blues/Rock, Classic Rock and Punk Rock. This guitar suits my style very well. I've tried it through a Marshall G100RCD, Fender Bassman, Marshall JVM, Epiphone Studio 10, and a Vox Cambridge 15. This guitar sounded SUPERB through all the amps, and sound great when the Bassman had the master at five. This guitar is just as good as a Gibson Les Paul Custom I've played.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I can't find any flaws with this guitar, but I may lower the action a bit. I usually string it with Ernie Ball 9s. When I play a lot of bends the guitar goes out of tune. It's my fault, I didn't pay attention once when I restrang it and messed up a bit on G, B, and E.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I can depend on it, completely, I don't see myself gigging without this guitar period. This is the most reliable one I've got.

Customer Support : 10
The guys over at Gibson are pretty helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing almost three years, I'll buy another one in black for gigs so my prized guitar that I am very, very attached to dosn't die in the line of duty.

Les Paul features.Laminated top, though I didn't want to admit it or wasn't sure.Solid mahogany back(if interested, look for my initial review under lpforme).

Sound : 7
I actually wrote a review a while back(12/06).I have to say the honeymoons over.I, like other reviewers here, have experienced problems with the pickup selector switch(before I sprayed tuner cleaner the sound would die or sound muffeled when switching pups) and the pickups unless overdriven sound fairly dull. It's pretty sad when a pawn shop style Flying V sounds more like a Les Paul than this Epiphone Les Paul(Cort Arrow- I wrote a review for it as a Cort Flying V under vfan). This is especially true when using both pickups together(southern rock spoken here). My amps for this experience is a first gen Cyber Twin set for a semi-clean tone and my Peavey Studio Pro 112 set on the lead channel, high gain setting,pre-gain at half.I recently checked the WCR website and liked the idea of a Green/Moore set of pickups as both these cats have been influential to me but economically wiil probably check out the Seymour Duncan Hot Rod set.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I still give this guitar a 10 for construction.

Reliability/Durability : 10
My main concern about reliability is the guitar breaking strings and the output jack shorting out(pu sel switch? Hopefully thats not affecting my tone now).So far so good but I would still bring a backup for tonal options(Strat copy HB bridge pu).

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
Been playing a long time mainly for fun now.I was so excited to own this guitar that I really didn't see any thing I didn't like(what's that saying?Love is blind). When using my Bad Monkey pedal or my Marshall Blues Breaker II or any of the overdriven presets on the Cyber this guitar is still fun to play(time to check the half/down tuning, throw on some Thin Lizzy, click on the Cry Baby and blast),but new pichups are in my future.

2006 model, all the normal stuff you'd find on a LP.
2 humbuckers, mahogany body and neck with rosewood fretboard and a thin veneer maple top. set neck, 22 well finished frets, crummy strap button, grover tuners, trap inlays, this one is honeyburst with cream pickguard and binding. made in China I believe.

Sound : 10
I am simply a livingroom musician, Have not 'played-out' in years.
I just entertain myself, wife and friends. that being said, I certainly don't need any big amp. What I curretly have is a
Fender G-Dec, I think it's 15 watts. This guitar sounds amazimg through it. the amp has about 50 different settings and amp models.
I can make this LP sound like a Tele if I want. Guitar does not seem noisey at all. Pickups are quiet and there are several distinct sounds just using the tone, volume, and pickup selector.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Set up very well, I bought it new. Action was (and still is) very low with no buzzing. I paid $450 for it and it has the finish quality of guitars worth twice that. frets especially well finished. neck is done well, body looks great. I'll say this though, when looking for one of these, look them all over carefully, there were a few I saw that had gaps in the bookmatched laminated top which ruined it for me.
anyway, this one was done well.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Like I said, it stays in my house so I don't beat it too hard. It stays in tune pretty well, could use locking tuners I suppose. Strap button suck. Had to stick toothpicks in the hole with lots of glue. That did the trick..!! Seels like the hardware will last as well as the finish. I've owned it for 1 1/2 years now and it still looks showroom. I do play it alot too, probably 7-10 hours a week. So that's over six hundred hours and she still looks great..!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
who knows or cares. this guitar was pretty cheap, if something goes wrong I'll fix it myself or not worry about it. Thats part of the beauty of a lower priced instrument, you don't get stressed about little things. ****, just buy a new one they are cheap enough..!!

Overall Rating : 10
I've beenm playing for 25 years now. Had my share of nice guitars too. Used to be a Fender guy strictly, Strats in particular. Actually it was my GF who bought this LP for me. I saw it at GCenter and waas blown away by the beauty of it. I had to have it. Very happy I did too. Really like the humbuckers, I've always had single coil guitars.
I feel like I'm playing a classic guitar here now. The design, weight, shape, feel, everything is right there. I've played 'real' LP's before. I borrowed a friends Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite for about a year, I definitely think this Epi sounds and feels better.
