Your guitar was made at the
Sae Jung Plant, China
September 2005
Production Number: 0138
I don't know what is the original one made of, beacause my was repaired by a luthier, and my has 22 frets and rosewood fretboard.
The neck is thiner than the original one, very similar to Telecaster, but the finish of fretboard is not soft, it's sharp.
Laminated solid top body (very light, I think it's ash, but not sure).
It has one humbucker as the original one form '57.
I changed the Epi pickup to a Gibson Classic 57 Plus(passive of course), and I must say it's awesome. Sustain is really great.
It has dark red finish, it may be called 'cherry' I think.
Anyway, it's much darker that chrome red Tele.
It'a typical SG-shaped guitar with a standar SG bridge.
Original one has crap, non-locked tuner, that doesn't keep tune very long. I got this guitar with tuners changed, but I don't really know what brand they are. Standard scale.
I got this used with Laney 30W amp.
Sound
:

Sound... It's quite powerful, a lot of sustain with that pickup. It doesn't collect any noise- that is one of the greatest advantages.
I mainly play rock and blues, but I prefer Tele for this type of music, I choose SG for hard rock, f.e. Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin.
It came to me with heavy, 12 g strings, 3rd wound. The wounded give rch, full tone, I hate. And the unwound give bright, glassy tone I love.
I need to change them, a lot depends on strigs in this guitar.
+++
sustain, ability to give you kind of sound you want to have
---
altought, it's a bit dark for me
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

I got this used, and it wasn't set properly.
Heavy strings, high actions- bending can relly hurt your fingers.
Finish is quite easy to scratch- while my almost half-year Tele hasn't got any little scratch.
I know, that in original one tuners are piece of shit, that you have to change on the begining, ANY would work better.
Generally, when using 12g strings your fingers won't be happy with this guitar.
Reliability/Durability
:

I hate when strap buttons are attached to the steel plate, that keeps neck. For me, that is definately a minus.
Finish is easy to scratch.
It's very light and quite loud- that is an advantage.
Can I depend on it- not sure. Not really. I'd rather depend on my Tele than SG.

I was trying to check production date- gibson.com and epiphone.com didn't help. I had to use Google.

Well, it cannot win with mex Tele. That's my opinion. The only advntage is sustain and noisless pickup.
If it was stolen- I wouldn't buy any other.
I think it's a great guitar you can tune and upgrade.
After a bit of tuning- it can be really proffessional guitar.

Guitar is a 2004 Epiphone SG Junior. I payed $250 for it as a package (it was my first guitar). A laminated alder/maple body supports a two piece maple neck with 24 frets on a rosewood fingerboard. The guitar is in a cherry gloss finish with chrome hardware: wraparound LP Junior bridge, with cheap Jinho tuners, and speed knobs. Under a black pickguard, there sits a single Epiphone bridge humbucker, open coiled. The neck is a 60's profile with high gloss finish. The package came with: guitar, 10 watt amp, pitch pipe, DVD, gig bag, strap, patch cord, and picks. All around, I am really impressed with this guitar, and am nearly done refinishing it.

To be honest, I really like the sound of this guitar. I'm plugged into a Fender Frontman 65r combo, and the tones I get just by fiddling with the controls on my SG are really nice. Theres no hum, and a classic, bright SG tone, while still keeping a surprizing amount of power in the one pickup. Like the tone and accesibility, really don't like the feel of the neck.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

It needed a bit of tweaking right out of the box, thats for sure. The tuners slipped a lot, and the bridge didn't have the right action for me. Electronics and routing were set up very well, and the finish was flawless.

I wouldn't trust this guitar to stay in tune for a live gig, basing my trust on the initial set up. With new tuners, I think this would be a great axe to play on stage. It's highly accessible, simple, and fun to play. The guitar's initial hardware was quite simple, and I feel it would be dependable in the years to come. That being said, I wouldn't use any guitar on a gig without a backup.

I'm still trying to get through to the company about compatible pickups, so I can't say that Epiphone has been a big help there. Otherwise, the guitar has a lifetime warranty, and I've had the truss rod adjusted free of charge from the store where I bought it.

Right now I've been playing for about a year, and I own a nice bit of gear for what I need it for:
Epiphone SG Junior (Refinished/Customized)
Fender Standard Telecaster
Fender Frontman 65r Combo Amp
Cry Baby Wah
Danelectro Chorus
I got it without being asked if it was the one I wanted, but loved it anyways, it was an excellent guitar to learn on, and the only thing I wish it had was a smoother neck. The fretboard's accessibility is probably my favourite feature.

The model I have is a double cutaway cherry finish with a single surface mounted P-90 pickup, bolted neck. I bought this guitar off ebay for 120.00 plus shipping. I lost an original 1961 Gibson Les Paul Jr that I owned for approximately 16 years and was so sick over it that I didn't pick up another guitar for close to 3 years. This guitar, although an inexpensive copy plays and sounds real close to the original. I have a 65 melody maker and I enjoy playing the epiphone as much if not more. In my opinion this guitar even with a bolted neck will give the best of guitar players a pleasant experience. I've been hammering away on these things for a long 37 years and if I were a beginner with not a lot of money to spend this would be my choice. I bought it because it reminded me of the one I lost that I paid 100.00 for in 1977 and that is worth probably a minimum of 4500.00 today. That's a little out of my range, but the Epiphone is almost as much fun to play and the P-90 really screams.

Korean Made, probably in the late 1990?s. It?s wine/red finish, and comes with a p-90 pickup. 2 controls, volume and tone. the neck is fat and its a bolt on. VERY LIGHT guitar
Sound
:

The sound is very good, i liked the way its very bright and it sounds very good with any marshall/fender amp... i?ve used it with a fender twin reverb and sounds awesome, and when i travel with my band (emo/indie), i usually use marshall, fender, roland amps and it usually sounds great everywhere, i always adjust the middle a little bit. (treble 8.5, middle 2.5, bass 6).

The finish is ok, transulcent red, but it may scratch easily. The action is good, plays very nice. It has a very small chip that was covered with same paint, it?s not an issue anymore.

I?ve used this guitar live since ?03 and it has never let me down. The stock tuners were awful, so i replaced them with some Grovers, and it never goes out of tune. I usually use it with a backup guitar - epiphone les paul 100.

This is where things pick up for me..... For me this guitar sounds great, a simple twist of the tone and theres a completely different sound, but mainly i love the "twang" that i can get out of her

The only problem I've had, is that a few months ago the strap bolt became loose and shortly after tightening it up it fell out, so I used some resin and touch wood I haven't had any other problems.

The main guitar I use is an epiphone Flying V Korona, one day this will be a gibson!!! apart from being great this guitar has turned me onto P-90's as I'm curently searching for a nice SG with twin P-90's. The main reason I've posted this review is that when reading all the other reviews I found that everyone thinks this guitar is crap and well as you can tell I don't agree

2001/02 made Japan. Has 1 volume and 1 tone control. 1 zebra striped humbucker that sounds pretty good with heavy distortion or if you just want a clean, clear sound. Not too many features to list but what it does have, is preety good.

This guitar suits my music style perfect. I have been playing acoustic guitar for years and this is my first electric. It sounds good with no matter waht amount of gain you run through it and is has a very full sound to it. I am running this through either an old Pignose 40/60 or a mesa boogie blue voodo it sounds great with either of them.

The factory set up was fairly decent. The guitar I purchased was teh floor model so it was used for demos. I'm guessing that maybe the shop I bought it from had a little bit of a hand in setting it up too. There are no flaws or loose hardware and all of the controls have a great response to them.

I've never used Customer Support for anything so I can't give a statement on them but I think if there was an issue I would take care of it myself. There is a lifetime warranty and I'm sure it wouldn't be a difficult thing to take care of if there was an issue.

I have been playing Bass and Acuostic guitar for about 12 years. So like many of you, I'm sure you know a good deal from a bad one. This is my first electric guitar and it seems to be of great quality both sound-wise and the durablilty of it, and for the price I picked it up for, it's awesome! If this guitar was stolen, I most likely would try to purchase another one. The feature I wish it had was dual humbuckers, but that would have changed the price dramatically so who knows what the review would have been then? The 2 things that I most like about it, is the finish and just the overall apperance of it. I'm very satisfied with overall.

This is about as basic as they come, folks. One p-90 single coil at the bridge with a simple tone pot. Bolt-on neck of course. Gibson style simple one piece bridge. Hm... I got it in red and it looked ok I guess. Also the body is extremely light.
Sound
:

Well... I guess it worked for me when I got it. I originally used it in a punk/hardcore band but when we broke up I decided it was time to upgrade. I don't really like hardcore anymore. I used it with a Marshall something or other (a cheap one). It was way too noisy for my tastes, but managed to provide a decent 'crunch' if that's what you're going for.
Action, Fit, & Finish

As I mentioned before the body is as light as a feather but it was almost light to a fault! It isn't balanced very well, I would recommend getting the 'Fat Finger' head weight for it (unless you're having neck problems of course). I also play with heavier strings because I down tune. This leads to problems with buzzing against the fretboard and before the nut near the tuning pegs. I know this can be adjusted by the bridge but it got to be too high to be playable.

Well to sum it up this guitar convinced me to stay away from Epiphones for the rest of my life. First of all and probably most noticable is the fact that the neck became loose soon after I got it. It got so that the slightest pressure on the neck would cause the tone to bend up. This wasn't a problem at first because I just tightened the neck bolt but eventually the wood got worn away and the screw had nothing to grip onto. This was solved at first by jamming toothpicks in the hole but eventually not even that worked. I just had to give it up as a lost cause. But that's not the end of my troubles. I had to take off the bridge by unscrewing the bridge bolts all the way. But the nuts in the body got pulled out in the process and i had to reglue them in. Also if you have this guitar do not attempt to open the back panel very often. After I did it twice it began to be lose the threads on the inside much like the neck bolt. Also be very carefull with the cheap screws. On mine they all are corroded now and there's no way for me to open it up. One last thing: the jack for the output gets very loose and you must tighten it frequently or else it will fall inside and you'll have to risk opening it up.

Well after about a year of playing it I threw it in my closet and upgraded to a Fender Strat. If you are the most gentle person in the world, one who doesn't ever need to take anything apart for any reason, someone who makes sure they polish their guitar after every use... then maybe this guitar will work for you. The sound is ok but I wouldn't ever use it for a gig. It's obvious by listening to this sad story that it also isn't very durable, it nearly fell apart in my hands. If you take my advice you'll be a man, save your pennies, and get a real Gibson SG. The quality and workmanship will blow you away compared to this hunk of crap.

Noisy but nice. Single coil noise...no hum is being bucked here. For $125.00 (eBay) this guitar is alot of fun. Roll the tone knob down a little. I have over a dozen guitars and amps. Right now this is my 'sofa' guitar. Light as a feather.

I got this guitar on eBay. The neck was wacked out. I had to adjust the truss rod to correct the neck. It is stamped "2nd" on the back of the neck. The finish is uneven on the back of the neck. I took the pick gaurd off to see what it looked like underneath...It hides the rest of the neck joint and it was all shaved uneven. You gotta see this. I took the back plate off. There are some wimpy looking pots. who cares? $125.00 I'll smash it on stage for those $$$$.
