Unlike most if not all of the previous reviewers of this guitar, I have the updated model.
It's features now include -
Solid Indonesian Mahogony back and sides
Solid Engleman spruce front, with 1/4 sawn spruce bracing
Abalone Rosette
Gloss front
Gold Grover tuners with Ebony tips
Macassar Ebony 'board and bridge
Ebony Bridge pins, with MOP dots
Hard Case
The guitar was made in indonesia (hence the indonesion mahogony I presume)

If it were possible to 100/10 I would. The guitar has singing highs, bowel trembling lows, the sweetest mids I've ever heard, and sustains for days. Well, a long time anyway. The sustain made me come over quite Nigel Tuffnelish 'You could go and have a bit, you'd still be hearing that one'
AMAZING strummer, and a SUBLIME fingerpicker.

Superb is becoming an over used word in this review, but once again it applies. The intonation is spot on, the action is neither too low nor too high.
The only thing at all I can pick the guitar up on is a few cosmetic blemishes. Visible glue around the rosette, and evidence of filler around the fret board markers, and while they're annoying, from a foot or more away no one can tell. Certainly not the front row.

So far she's solid as an ox, well built, with 'popsicle sticks' on the sides for crack prevention (a bonus at this price) once again 10/10

The best acoustic I've ever played. Infact the best guitar of anykind period. If it were stolen I'd be heart broken, but I'd DEFFINAELY get another Faith guitar. In fact I already have my eye on 2 other models in the range.

AMAZING!!! I've never heard soooooo much sustain from an acoustic. It has a full bodied but not overly bassey tone in standard tuning, go down a couple of steps, sometimes I go down 2 1/2 and it vibrates the room! with minimal fret buzz.

Finished to a high standard, action was high but thats nearly always the case, took the saddle down now the action is like an electric and no fret buzz atall in standard tuning.

I bought this guitar a few years back. I live on the beach so it sees a lot of sand, sun, water and fire in the summer. Also a while ago it was involved in a car accident which put two adjacent splits one of the sides round the shoulder, and to my pleasent suprise and 8 months later it appears that there is no sound loss, no tuning issues and no bigger splits forming. Strong and as durable as an OX!!

playing 18 years, i own a Maton 12 string, Takamine 523 G-series, National square neck brass resonator. Have just sold a Gibson Dove which I felt to precious about and my faith sounded better anyway, honestly!!
I love the fact that I comes with a strap point on the heel, why most guitars are supplied with only one baffels me.
If it went missing or it was used as a hammer I would go out and buy another immediately

Bridge looks like it was pulling away from top, but it is just glue showing. Small crack in the top next to the neck but doesn't affect sound. I think it was stored in a really dry place for some time.
I replaced the saddle tusq with a lower one to bring the action down, this made playing on it better. Did I mention it is one of the lightest guitar bodies I have ever tried. The head is heavy feeling so the balance is a bit strange. Just like another reviewer, I found the fret wires had sharp edges, nothing a few minutes with a bit of filing didn't fix. One of the tuners felt loose but keeps tune anyway.

probably made around 2003. new ones come w/ebony pins--this has white plastic. this is my first post for a guitar and i shall give it an 8 in every category because i consider it a significant guitar to review, but certainly not the second coming... guitar is all solid wood, but very light. back and sides Indonesian mahogany. not a true mahogany--red meranti or red seraya (shorea) density and strength similar to american. not quarter sawn-ok. top is spruce(spanish sitca) of a functional grade. finish is VERY light n. lacquer. looks almost unfinished. ebony fretboard and bridge. diamond markers and simple santa fe like rosette. ping tuners. scale 25.5

i've been hammer-on a guitar for several years, but have absolutly no talent. love delta blues and try bastard versions of like e.g. neil young etc. this guitar came very well set up. plays all the way to 17th fret with no dead spots or buzz. haven't measured string clearance at 12, but is ok--don't get down there much anyway. i have a little guild, a simon patrick and a top line garrison (50). also art/luth ami. i won't/can't give sonic evaluations. the faith has a nice sweet crude sound if that makes any sense. kind of like finding an old harmony soverign in perfect condition with an ebony fretboard

fit is simple and well done. not a polished programed look of alverez/samick. prob no cad involved. wood(maple) binding -nice. clean inside. fret ends rough--3 minutes with steel wool fixed that. guitar has small shop feel w/ cheap wood.

Lovely rich sound that has improved since I've been playing it (a couple of months at present). I use DADGAD mostly and acoustically this guitar is excellent for an electro: there is I asume a compromise needed between acoustic tone/resonance and the the predisposition of guitars of a high spec to feed back too much when you try to amplify them in an electric band. I've played some Takamines in the same price range and none of them have been as good as this guitar. My first impression of the built in pre-amp is that it will do all I need when I use it live.

This guitar feels just right. Goldilocks would have played it. I played one in a shop and had the feeling that I didn't want to stop. Think I annoyed the shop owner. No flaws in the finish, but I'm not as picky as those geezers at Guitarist. The spruce top is well book-matched and has a hint of bearclaw here and there. The rosewood is georgeous, containing lights darks and mid-bromns with all sorts of other hues. I love it. Set-up suits my style.

It is a solid wood guitar and I would have to be carefull with it on stage, as I suppose the woods are all a bit delicate. The back, especially. I'm saving it for special gigs only. I wont be playing it in a cramped pub gig. The tuners feel solid. They remind me of the ones on my friends Lowden. Iv'e no idea how long it will last. Longer than me, I expect...

I've played guitar for over 30 years. I Like traditional Fenders,Gibsons and Martins: I would call myself old-school. I needed this guitar for a ply at home and on stage and it is perfect for these uses. I prefered it to the Takamines I've tried. I love the look of it. When the little one grows up I'll have that Martin. Until then I'll keep the Faith.

I got the saturn 12 string after looking for a couple of years for a nice sounding, playing mid-range 12. It's a solid wood guitar for laminated wood money! I can honestly say that this guitar plays and sounds better than anything else in the price range, and probably better than some guitars you would pay 4 times as much for! Ebony finger board, bridge and bridge pins, real wood binding. Top of the range guitar for mid range money. Unbelievable.

I play fingerstyle and this guitar suites me. It can respond to the lightest touch, or growl loud when driven hard. There aren't many 12's that you can fingerpick easily, but this is almost as easy to play as my 6. The sustain is unbelievable. I own a 6 string martin, and I now prefer playing my Faith! The whole thing vibrates in your arms as you play. It stays in tune too, which is another bonus for a 12. And it is only going to get better!

Set up off the shelf was very good all in all. A little stiff at the nut, but nothing worth worrying about. An overall easy action without being too low. I use open tunings alot and also tune down a tone or so, and I don't have any problems with rattles and buzzes. The only time I got anything like that was when I tuned down two whole tones and the strings started vibrating off each other.
The workmanship is as good as anything I've ever seen. Better than my martin, better than taylors and gibsons that I've seen. Fret work is very good, no sharp edges, no fret buzz anywhere. If I were to be really critical, I'd say the frets could do with a polish just to brighten them up. Nice grain on the solid top and back, one knot one one of the side, but that's not important to me and is certainly not ugly. Inside looks spotless too. Couldn't ask for more from any guitar.

I wouldn't imagine that the guitar would take a lot of abuse due to the finish. It's very light, although you can get a high gloss finish if you want. As for hardware, that remains to be seen whether it lasts or not. Time will tell! I would play live with it without backup as it sonds like a mini orchestra on it's own!

I've been playing for 8 years and own a martin orchestra model and Marshall acoustic amp. I wish I had asked Trevor for a discount!, but I was well satisfied with what I was getting for my money, so I didn't bother. I'm happy ;o) I would definately buy another one if I was unlucky enough to lose this guitar. I love the build quality, the wood, payability and above all, the sound. My favourite feature is the little thing that make a difference, like the ebony bridge pins for example. Attention to detail. I wish this guitar came fitted with a pickup, but that's something I can add later.

I have the faith saturn cutaway with shadow tech's awesome pre amp n transducer in the bridge. The amount of thing to play with will keep you busy for ages and each control (bass, lowmid, highmid, treble, contour on slider controls along with notch, frequency, width n volume controls on turn nobs with switches for notch on/off frequency on/off and eq switch for classic V when sliders are in middle positions) phew.. with the pre amp alone you can get some beautiful sounds to cater to the style your playing and watever PA, amp your playing through. I think they should have had a blend control and a mis in the body aswell I have a similar pre amp from shadow with this but it is not included with this model but stil features galore. I expect you all know about the gig bag n the wood its made from etc..

Now this baby sounds absolutely fantastic on her own with the solid woods you can feel the vibration through your body I use 12-56 which the git was setup for and it responds well to anyway i wish to play it, whether it be bashing it like neil young, delicate finger style picking this git responds really well to it all. The tonel qualities are superb with a good right hand technique you can achieve lots of wonderful tones just by the position u strum/pick the harmoics ring like a beauty and the feel of the neck is also lovely n smooth and nice to play, although I wouldnt quite call it effortless but as the guitar wares in as with all solid wood acoustics they need to bed in to the player mine over time is sounding better n better. The sound through the pickup is very nice to, the git has a xlr and jack output so u can go into a mixing desk with the xlr triple wired leads to reduce interferance. through a guitar amp it sound well ok but electric git amps are designed to brake up so it doesnt really bring the full potential sound to you althugh it does still sound quite good but put it through a PA and it sounds real warm and fills the room with an almost exact produce of sound as it where unplugged very nice indeed and you can tweak the frequency to your hearts content! ssssssuperb.

The action on this git is very good for people who know what acoustics are all about and how they sound at best(usually open and free/percussive) other than trying to play bar chords on it all the time for which it still plays well but bar chords i think kill the real sound of an acoustic instrument. The build quality is excellent I have had no problems with bits falling of or crack or anything go wrong as I do look after my instruments like my own body and the finish is fantasic to look at and although the matt finish is prone to damage knock and bumps(sometimes it cant be helped) I feel that it only improves the finish and the sound for no heavy laquer restricting the vibration. I payed #400 for mine and that seems quite expensive but I brought it at the beginning of 2004 and it does have the pick up in it and it is worth every penny. Well done Faith!! thank you.

This guitar if looked after will last forever, these woods are nice and solid and strong, If you care for your guitar it will care for you. I recommend getting a hard case for it if you intend to gig alot though or hell get one anyway because even though the faith gig bag is cool a hard case will protect it that much more. I dont think back ups are nessesary, If you have back ups take em. If I was doing a strictly acoustic gig I would probably take one just incase but would probably never need to use it.

Right this for me was very important, I wanted a guitar that pleased visually of course but this is the first Acoustic that I have ever bought, I am mainly a electric player. I found buying a Acoustic guitar a nightmare, firstly most that I tried were really horrible to play and the sound lacking, either too bright or no sparkle. The reason that I wanted an acoustic was for drunken nights with friends, ease of setting up at home, and to work on new techniques and that I just wanted one!
When I first played this guitar I was quite knocked back by the sound, it just projected really well and it had great sustain, It really was between this and the Simon and Patrick SP6 (Also in Cedar) However opposed to buying a guitar from a make that I know I decided to use my ears, and this quite clearly won, it just sounded really good and being Solid Wood and the ageing potential was also a strong selling point. For the outradiously low price that I pay for it, I have to give it a ten, and that is because even if it was #100 more I still would have bought it, and given it a 9

Right this is the low point of this guitar. Ok It looks lovely and sounds wonderful, however when I bought this it played like crap. It was awful, really awful! Now I know I mainly play electrics and I have a few, however I have obviously play acoustics before and know how they are and are not supposed to play. It bought this from my usual guitar shop and had the bridged shaved by 1.5mm and there was and there was way too much relief in the neck, it almost looked like a banana! Seriously though only after this was done and new Martin strings were put on was a truely happy, it plays very well indeed now. I have had to tweak the neck a couple of times since I bought it but it has settled. The frets are all pretty accurate a couple a very very slightly sharp ones but this is picking. The finish on the guitar is lovely and doesnt reflect the crazy price, again I would have paid another #100 for it.
The workmanship is pretty good and certainly (as mentioned) does not reflect the price. The guitar is pretty solid, however there are a couple of tiny knots in the wood (Sides), but hey it still sounds, looks and now plays better than anything else at this price.
DEspite earlier comments I still have to rate this guitar at 9, because despite the setup issues, I know what is and is not an issue when purchasing a guitar and setups are also pretty much an individual thing, and I am mainly an electric player.

Erm I would play it live, with a backup of course, however it would be pretty quiet, I may have a B-Band put into it, I have not really decided yet. It is well made and I believe that the life of the instrument is dependant on the owner. I respect and deeply love all of my guitar s and treat them according. If you cant look after guitars and they break in your hands you really are not old enough or responsible enough to own one!
However I am sure that the gold coating will rub off and this guitar will accedentially get knock; however these are all character building.

I have been playing guitar (in its general sense) for 15 years, I own a Paul Reed Smith, McCarty (Main Guitar), a old Jackson Professional, (my child and teenage years guitar), a Ernie Ball Music Man (For Funk), and obviously the Faith. I use a US Fender Hot Rod Delux Amp, for Blues, Country and Jazz, and a Messa Boogie F-50 Wide Body for everything else. A few stomp boxs, like a Jim Dunlop Wah, and that is really it.
I am glad I asked for the price before I bought it cause I could have given him #100 more by mistake!
If I lost this guitar I would definitly buy another one, and again if it was stolen I would also, albeit I would be a bit pissed off!
The setup was really ropey on this one, However just buy it from a good shop and they should be able to ensure that everything is set, if you are not confident with doing it your self. I do love the sound, I hate the bag , I think a material bag would have looked much better! It was either this or the Simon Patrick, (Which in my view did play better) But did not sound as good, This is solid wood, this guitar will sound better as it gets older, and it is pretty to look at! Extremely good value, I actually play this more than my PRS!

Faith Saturn - On the tag this was priced at #319? I paid #255
One of the things that jumps out about this guitar are the features, it really is beautifully construction. The guitar is solid wood, with a Spanish cedar top, Solid Indonesian mahogany sides, back and neck. Ebony bridge, fingerboard and bridge pins? I could no find another solid wood guitar in this price range that came anywhere near the Saturn and even spending significantly more the Saturn would still hold its own.
It is built in a traditional dreadnought style with a lovely satin finish. The headstock has gold plated winders with turtle shell buttons and the Faith logo. The whole look and feel of this guitar screams quality and gives you confidence when playing. As well as all wood construction, a quality finish and attention to detail you get a free padded gig bag with an embroidered Faith logo, which in its self is a nice bit of kit?. All for #250, if there is a guitar with more ?bang for your buck? than this one then I have not seen it.
Sound
:

Sound is very subjective and I have given this a 10 because I love the way that it plays? obviously as I brought it. Before I parted with my hard earned cash I did play a lot of guitars that were in a similar price range and only other one that came close was the Simon & Patrick SP6. Now a lot of people swear by the SP6 and it is a fantastic instrument however, it is laminated and not solid, has a higher action and is more expensive. I preferred the sound that the Faith delivered? to me it sounds brighter and crisper, with a truly fantastic sustain. Perfect for playing chords and the country style music I strum.
I really do think that the richness and complexity of the Faith guitar?s sound rivals some that are 3 to 5 time their price. It produces a real warmth and clarity? I love it.
Being realistic if you have #1,000 to #2,000 to spend you could get a slight improved sound, but within its price range I think that is unbeaten so it gets a 10.

Overall I think that the Saturn is a fantastic buy and that you should make a real effort to play it before you get something else. The Simon & Patrick SP6 is its closest rival (you should try this before you buy as well) and it is subjective but I think that the Saturn edges it on sound?. SP has more base but, Saturn is richer and brighter. However, when you take into consideration the price, features and style, then the decision is made for you! The Saturn is a fantastic piece of equipment and very affordable.
