Its the same factory that produces Blueridge guitars that are by far better marketed. However, Farida in China entertains its own brand an builds a series of very nice crafted acoustic instruments. My newly acquired D55 N is a classic dreadnough guitar with a very full an cultivated sound.
The guitar is solid sitka spruce on top and solid Rosewood (Ovenga wood). The Fingerboard has very nice snowflake inlays.

It ranges above the Blueridge instruments that I could compare in the shop. The D55N is made for professionals and will stand up against very renown brands. I own a Furch S22CM (same as Stanford) as well. The Farida D55N ranges well above this guitar. 10 out of 10 listeners say that.
I play jazzy fingerpicking things on this guitar. The sound is rich with crispy hights and full bass. You may play this guitar loud, something you would want to avoid on the Furch S22.

This guitar is made for professional use. You will want to place it in front of a microphone. You can do all sorts of percussive things with it. Playing with picks will soon mark the surface - if you fingerpick, don't worry.

I'm fine off with a dealer almost next door. But as the brand is very rare in Europe, there might be a few other dealser but currently (2006) I would expect too many people to know about this.

If you see a Farida guitar somewhere, you should consider this. I think I paid a regular price. I was prepared to spend up to 1500? for this purchase and came out with a Farida. I did surprise myself here :-).
