This guitar was custom built for myself to my exacting specifications. It is a les paul design guitar with a reverse PRS headstock. The guitar has a carved bookmatched quilted maple cap on a mahogany body. The colour of the guitar is trans purple with a slight burst to the vintage binding, the sides and back are also trans purple. The neck is a wide fat carve with a bound ebony board and bound ebony faced headstock as well as jumbo 6100 frets. The inlays are block pearl with black pearl triangles in them. The heel of the guitar is carved to provide brilliant upper fret access all the way to no 22. The hardware is all black with tonepros locking bridge and tailpiece, sperzel tuners, earvana nut, and dunlop locking strap buttons. The controls are 2vol, 2tone with black metal knobs, a 3way switchcraft toggle, a black microswitch to coil tap the pickups (between the 2 tones). The pots are high quality CTS pots with the best hovland musicaps. Finally the pickups are black covered Bareknuckle pickups, rebel yell humbuckers with allen bolt pole adjusters. The guitar came in a Custom designed hiscox case with the feline logo.
I tried to specify this guitar to be as versatile and good looking as possible.
Sound

For this guitar i wanted versatility, prior to this i have leaned towards heavier emg equipped metal guitars and as good as they were, they lacked versatility. This guitar sounds amazing in all ways, the acoustic sound is bright and vibrant before you plug it in and once you do well stand back, this thing rocks!! I have tried it through 3 amps so far a Cornford mk50h mkII, a thd univalve and an epiphone valve junior. In all cases it sounded amazing, the clean sounds are chimey in the neck position and wonderfully warm in the bridge. When coil tapped you can achieve some of that strat spank, although it is still a les paul. This guitar is best at crunchy rhythm sounds with a clarity and bite that is second to none and when you dime the amp you can get awesome metal tones with none of the mush, remarkable!
Obviously i am over the moon with the sound but hey i chose everything over the course of the year, incidently the spec changed countless times during the build of the guitar. I'm glad i could choose what i got, no "modifying" is going to be necessary.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The setup was perfect, the action is as low as i have ever seen a guitar action despite owning ibanez prestige guitars. The frets and inlay work was imepecable as is the overall look of the guitar. The only flaw in the guitar is a slight blemish due to laquer sinkage at the back of the headstock, this is really minor and i only noticed it in certain light angles close up. When i mentioned this to jonathon at feline guitars he offered to strip the guitar and have it totally refinished, i turned his kind offer down as it really wasn't necessary. Everyone who has seen this guitar has commented on how beautiful it looks, it makes me feel glad that jonathon cares so much about his work to produce such a brilliant instrument.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is built to last without question. Being a one off it has to be, the entire guitar was designed to be beautiful yet robust and so i think it will last me a long time. I can 100% depend on this guitar but you should never gig without a backup, strings break its a fact of life!!

Jonathon is a very friendly bloke who is passionate about his trade and all things related to guitars. i lost count of how many hours i spent talking to him initially about my guitar and then about something to do with gear, amps etc. You do not get this level of customer service from gibson et al. As for warranty i was told that he would be happy to look at the guitar in the future whenever i am in the area so open ended appears to be the order of the day

I've been playing guitar for a while now and i love it and all things related to it. This guitar is the epitome of that love it is the realisation of everything i wanted in a guitar. i paid for the guitar in monthly installement during its build and all in it took 14 months from being an idea to becoming an instrument. This guitar is a total one off and that makes it special, whats best about buying a guitar in this way is it will always be 100% of what you want.
This guiatar isn't cheap but then considering you get a custom built handcrafted work of art it is great value. A custom shop gibson just pales in comparison to this guitar. Overall having a guitar custom built has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience, if you love music you should give it a go and call feline guitars.
