A mexican made tele with an f-hole,21 frets, 2 reissue pickups. the place where bought it was really great. service was excellent. the usual case and cable was included.

Sound : 8
i play a lot of blues and rock and some oldies as well. good for blues with light-medium gain but just cant do well enough with high gain. pickups are pretty good, they reallly give clean and shimmering tones. the neck is really good for light blues and jazz.neck/lead is pretty acoustic like but has nice tone for a strum. lead pickup really bites but not unpleasant. quite versatile overall, but only limmited.great resonance, but slightly less sustain. not a problem for me though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
great setup. plays real smoothly. frets were all right. finish chipped in two places but cant be seen unless scrutinized carefully.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
well, it is a hollowbody so you have to be careful with how you handle (or manhandle) it. i do use it for gigging but im carefull not to let it out of my sight so its pretty safe.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with fender

Overall Rating : 8
one of the sweetest teles ive ever played so far. i will cherish this guitar. nothing much to complain except for the lack of high gain. looks cool and sounds cool.

THIS IS A 1994 ^69 TELE THINLINE REISUE MADE IN JAPAN.IT FEATURES A GREAT HOLLOW MAHOGANY BODY EXPERTLY FINISHED IN NATURAL,PEARL PICKGUARD,A U SHAPED ROUND LAM MAPLE NECK FINISHED IN A PERIOD CORRECT POLYESTER FINISH,VINTAGE FRETS,TRADITIONAL 3 SADDLE TELE BRIDGE WITH STEEL SADDLES,VERY GOOD DIE CAST GOTOH TUNERS (NOT THE CHEAP KLUSON STYLE REISUES).I BOUGHT IT NEW FOR ONLY $400 PLUS GIG BAG FROM MY FAVORITE SHOP IN ATHENS,GREECE.I GOT LUCKY BECAUSE THERE IS STILL A GREAT DEAL OF SNOBBERY TOWARDS JAPANESE FENDERS,I AM OLD AND WISE ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT JAPANESE FENDERS ARE WAY BETTER ,AND CHEAPER THAN THE STOCK AMERICAN ONES! TO BAD THEY DO NOT MAKE THIS MODEL ANYMORE,THE NEW REISUES ARE MADE IN MEXICO. THE ONLY DRAWBACK OF THIS GUITAR ARE THE CRAPY PU SWITCH AND POTS,REPLACE THEM IMEDIATELY!!(THEY ONLY COST $15!)

Sound : 10
THIS GUITAR KICKS SERIOUS BUTT!UNPLUGGED IT IS MORE RESONANT THAN MY 1977 TELE AND PLUGGED IT REALLY NAILS THAT ILLUSIVE PUNCHY TELE SOUND. I HAVE COMPARED THIS GUITAR WITH EVERY TELECASTER IN THE SHOP AND THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS ON PAR WITH THIS BABY WAS A $2500 CUSTOM SHOP MODEL! THE PICKUPS AREN/T BAD AT ALL (OK THEY ARE NOT RIO GRANDES BUT THEY DO THEIR JOB PRETTY WELL!).IF YOU DO NOT USE HIGH GAIN THERE IS NO NEED TO REPLACE THEM.I USE THIS BABY FOR CLEAN RHYTHM JOB SO I WILL LEAVE THEM AS THEY ARE.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
THE GUITAR HAS A U SHAPED NECK WHICH ISN/T REALLY MY CUP OF TEA (I PREFER CHUNKY FATBACK NECKS),BUT IT REALLY PLAYS GREAT,THE FRET JOB IS BETTER THAN ANY AMERICAN FENDER I HAVE SEEN,THE ACTION IS PRETTY LOW FOR A TELE WITH A 7.5 RADIOUS AND A TOTALLY STRAIGHT NECK.THE GUITAR IS A REAL WORK OF ART AND THE NECK POCKET IS TIGHTER THAN MY CUSTOM SHOP STRAT!THIS GUITAR SHOULD COST 3 TIMES MORE!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
THIS IS A TELE BUILT LIKE A TANK.THE BIGEST ADVANTAGE: IT IS THE LIGHTEST GUITAR I OWN!(IT HAS BECOME A MAINSTAY LIVE GUITAR).

Customer Support : No Opinion
FENDER HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD TO ME

Overall Rating : 10
THIS IS THE BEST TELE FOR UNDER A GRAND (MAYBE FOR OVER A GRAND TOO!). REPLACE THE CRAPY ELECTRONICS AND YOU HAVE A GREAT WORKHORSE.EVERY TELE AFFICTIONADO SHOULD OWN THREE!!!

This is a Japanese (crafted in Japan at the base of the neck) single coil Thinline reissue. It is clear finish and identical to the guitar pictured Fender.com. Please refer to that site for exact specs. It comes with everything you expect from a Fender.

Sound : 6
This guitar is super bright with really high output on the bridge pickup. It is difficult to find a good distortion setting through my Mesa Boogie amp simulator without really cutting the treble. That means I have to memorize more settings...
It gets a nice clean Tele tone and rings like a bell unplugged. It's great for strumming on the can, boys!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action, fit and finish on this guitar were top drawer. Like a mentioned above, it rings like a bell at a compfortable low action setting. Everyone that plays it notes how well the strings "sound". That's helped by the F-hole naturally.
One of the most unique things about this guitar is the super light neck, many shades brighter than on other Fenders. It makes it look so prestine!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've never had any problems with a Fender, but I sit at home and play. I don't even own a case for most of my guitars, they just hang on the wall until they get tapped.

Overall Rating : 10
A great guitar if you are looking for a Telecaster that won't break your back or the bank. It plays great and is super to look at, it's just brighter than all get out, but that's a Tele. If you do a lot of playing unplugged (married, apartment dweller) this is a great guitar to have around. It's not a good all-purpose guitar, and I recommend adding it to your collection after you have more of the basics covered.

This one i recently got is the brown/orange finish mahogany, very good looking. Hecho en Mexico. I'm a vintage style nerd and everything looks period correct to me. Ashtray bridge, even funky squared off tuner buttons with little F's on the sealed gear covers just like what they put on the late 60's and 70's fenders. The pickups are your basic good sounding tele single coils. Not hot, they sound fine to me. They also take a fair amount of gain and volume for this countryass bluesrocker. I've happily noticed this good trend on the recent Jap and Mex reissues, unlike older CBS, Jap reissues, and Squires. Yay Fender. Surgical tubing instead of springs on the pickup screws(vintage style again?)Cool. I thought Teles and Strats used 250K pots. This axe has two 1 Meg pots. More signal gets to the amp, I dig it. Check Torres Engineering for an explanation. Surprisingly, did not have the usually stock .001MF cap across the vol pot. I put one in, gotta have it. Did they forget, or did Thinlines just not get them? For those who think(previous submission) this and other teles can't put out enough balls, try anything heavier than .009's, a little bit higher action, roll back the tone knob, and play harder. This axe can sing if you coax it. The only thing I eventually have to do is get bigger frets on these kind of guitars. Teles are simplistically beautiful sounding and playing guitars, they are not featured out. This gets a 10 anyway.

Sound : 10
I play a variety of music and styles. I like it all. I feel Teles are great for anything. Fingerpicking! Slide. Classical type shit. Of course blues, country, R&B. The hollow tele has always intrigued me. This one sounds and plays great,it is more jangley and bright than my solid body tele with a rosewood fingerboard.(the Thinline has a maple fingerboard) Lighter is good for me. I really don't mind or notice less sustain as you would think a hollowbody has. I'm looking forward to the possibility of increased acoustic feedback. I just dig hollowbodies, I don't know why more people don't play them. I gig with many effects through at least two real blackface Fenders. I use THD hotplate attenuators on them. I also use a Groove Tubes Trio preamp into the Twin or Super. The cranked and attenuated amp might be a Princeton, Deluxe or Vibrolux. So yeah, I do high gain, low gain, clean with all kinds of effects. This guitar rocks with all of it. To me, it does everything a good tele should do(bends behind the nut) with the added fun and cool look of the hollowbody.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This thing was typically set up very light, with low action. Mucho fun, but minimal balls. But that's just me. This thing can be adjusted anyway you like it to suit your style. As I said earlier, if you want to get beligerent, you'll have to get bigger frets. One curious thing is when you turn down the volume on it, there is a slight increase in hum, but that's only when you're not touching the strings. So it's not really bothering me, it might bother you. Finish is so nice. Well made. If I have to get picky, there are glumps of glue visible through the F hole. Whoopie, I can cut them out if I want to.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As I've explained, this axe is well done.

Not too worried about this stuff. I do alot myself.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 27 years. I've seen these in bar bands since I was 10 or 11 and have wanted one since. I have other Fenders. Hope it doesn't get stolen. I dig the pearloid pickguard. I hate that I'll have to get it refretted. I knew that I would. I'd just rather have this vintage style thing than an American Standard or other hot rodded deal. Those seem bulky, heavy, yucky.

Standard tele with a nice look. Key-hole, brown finish, 3-way switch. Two stanard (stock) pickups, ashtray bridge, one volume and one tone control. The neck is maple all the way, I'm not sure about the body.

Sound : 4
I bought this guitar six years ago, thats about when I started playing. I got used to it, and played classical fingerpicking, blues, rock, and some heavy and punk. It has a very good clean sound, but it is no good for overdrive or distortion: no sustain, thin sound, and very noisy. The neck pickup tends to feedback a lot.
With that special old bridge, it's also impossible to intonate. If you are going to buy one, change the bridge.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It's a very beautiful guitar, that's why I choose it in the first place. The Fender-quality is good. High action, and no flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've used this guitar in a couple of gigs, and it always stayed in tune. After six years the hardware and finish are as good as new. I you're planning to use it on a gig, think about your playing, not a backup guitar.

As I mentioned earlier, this guitar is a beautiful baby. Whenever I lay it down, it just whisper: "Play me, play me". For clean sound, it has a great warm tone when I use the neck pickup, and I can easily make it brighter with the tone knob, that actually works.
If you're planning to use this for blues/rock/soloing with overdrive or distortion, don't! Compared to a Epiphone Les Paul, it's pityfull and weak.
I just bought a brand new Epiphone Les Paul for about half the price of the Thinline, and I must say that this Telecaster ain't worth it.
