Very adaptable guitar. Probably has something to do with how much music is actually played on a Strat! I'm currently running this through a Reissue Vibroverb with a Tube Screamer or ProCo Rat box. It has the usual single coil noise in positions 1, 3 and 5. I think the American Std is *very* compatible with my '63 reissue Vibroverb. Love it for the blues and surf stuff. Doesn't quite make it for that heavy distortion rock and roll stuff though. A good working-man's axe.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action is good... no flaws in the paint. Nice tight neck pocket. I went through Erlewine's Strat setup from the Guitar Player Repair Guide and it plays great!

Reliability/Durability : 10
A real workhorse... tough enuff.
