American Standard Telecaster, need I say more? My guitar is an '88 and as far as I can tell its exactly the same as 98's. Tone, volume controls and a three way selector switch, A.S. tuners. I gave it a 10 because I didn't want to penalize the guitar for being true to form. Very little change is what the American standard line is all about. My guitar came with a fender case, pretty cheap and I plan on replacing it.

"This is the telecaster", quote borrowed from RDP of the New Kings of Rhythm. Made in America and with a classic tele sound all the way. I play surf, and anything but pop, This guitar covers the whole range but with that distincly twangy tele sound. I don't understand anyone complaining about the sound of this guitar. The american standard is fender's benchmark model for this line, you either like tele's or not.

I bought my guitar used. Everything was perfect and original except for a patch made in the wood from the previous owner dropping her, ouch! I don't mind the ding however, being that it is on the back of the guitar. Nuts, Fender makes great nuts, but I play 10's or 11's so I filed it a bit. The selector switch locks into place with a click, I love that. The tone and volume turn nicely. The neck is rosewood, and it's absolutely beautiful, very dark. The pickgaurd wasn't fitted well but I solved the problem by adding another screw about an inch from the bottom screw for the neck pickup.

my guitar has been in service for 10 years. all the equipment is original and I trust it completely. The finish is great, everything is in perfect order... this is what you have to look forward to in ten years.

Fender support is notorious, my only real experience with Fender support is with their amps, and it wasn't that hard to get anything fixed, this guitar is obviously way past warranty.

I would be very upset if I lost this guitar. I bought this guitar used and got a great deal on her for what I see American Standard Tele's going for new. There are plenty of used american standards on the market and based on what I payed for this, and the great condition it was in I would seek out another, I would pay full price for a new Tele if I had to. Telecasters are my favorite guitars and if I had to own one guitar forever this would be it, I would never give it up towards another guitar, and I would only buy another guitar if I could afford to keep this.

it has the classic tele twang on the bridge setting but when playing on a freinds marshall amp i had tons of feedback from the bridge pickup. its alright on the neck pickup. i use a 60w crate i dont get that much feedback.

'97 Tele, USA-made standard model.

The sound is great (I play in a country-rock band), but it hums a little too much, maybe it's the amp's fault... I use a Mesa/Boogie DC-2 Studio Caliber and no effects. It really sounds great, especially in the bridge and bridge + neck position; the neck pickup alone is a little bit too "muddy".

REALLY PERFECT !!! Absolutely no flaws, perfect pickups, perfect frets, GREAT FINISH. Just the action was maybe a little bit to high, but I really like the strings very close to the neck. I've had an American Standard Strat, too, but the Tele is absolutely better finished.

I always use this guitar in live gigs with no backup at all, the finish is very strong, you can absolutely depend on it. Just remember to use Schaller Straplocks, you never know...

I've been playing for five years now, I've had EIGHT electric guitars, including a Strat, a Les Paul, a Jackson etc.(G.A.S. guitar acquisition syndrome...) but this one is surely the best I've ever had. I'd surely buy it again, and I'm curious to try it with the gear I'll buy the next few days (SansAmp PSA-1 + Tube Works 60 + 60) It's really a cool guitar, and the price is ok, even in Italy.

1997 USA Made Tele, AKA American Standard Telecaster. 21 medium frets, rosewood fingerboard, 9.5" radius curvature. Standard Tele layout, TWO piece bookmatched body with 3-color sunburst and nice figure, especially on back. White 3-ply pickguard. Six-saddle (flat) adjustable bridge. Neck trussrod adjustment at butt end. (dang!) Good modern sealed tuning machines (assume Gotoh). Front pickup height adjustment screws like strat (new to me). Came with thermoform hardcase (I'd rather have rectangular tweed).

I use it for Gospel, Blues, Jazz, Pop, Classic rock and R & B. Tele's are versatile! Used with Ampeg Jet II, Crate GX-40C, in stereo with Zoom acoustic pedal or bypassed. Sometimes Dod stereo chorus pedal. Sometimes straight into the Ampeg. Its not too noisy. Its less noisy than the Les Paul Junior (P-90) I traded in! Sheesh, THAT thing hummed! This is my fourth Tele (plus some imported pretend Tele's). Its a good'un. Not exactly a '52 reissue, but pretty nice, and much cheaper.

I started playing guitar in 1960. I've had 'em all. Teles are cool. So's this one. If somebody rips it off and I'm still living I'll get another Tele, probably an American Standard, unless the Lottery fairey drops sufficient funds on me for a '52 Vintage Reissue. Besides the aforementioned electric stuff I have a Gibson Advanced Jumbo reissue flat-top acoustic. I can also borrow my youngest son's MIJ '62 RI Strat and LOUD Peavey 210 watt amp!

the tele does'nt suit my music style persay it augments it. i play the tele through a '59 bassman fender amp with a danelectro daddy o' pedal the tele has the classic single coil buzz the tele has that twangy sound, however set up right one can get a nice fat tone the tele is versital in that one can achieve a clean sound, a country sound or a rock sound the only dislike i have about a fender tele is the unavailability of a tremelo system, however the fender telecaster with the b-bender is realy cool.

the action on the tele from the factory is excellent the pickups were a little low for my taste, but easily adjusted all the aspects of the guitar are of excellent quality as far as consruction and finish!!!!

i've been playing for about 15 years i also own a '62 fender strat, an early 80's model charvel 3 (strat) i would definatly replace it if lost or stolen, but most likely with the b-bender tele i love the overall feel of the guitar, it feel comfortable, and the overall playability it great, so far i can't say that i hate anything about it as of now favorite feature-straight pull string tuning!! i compared the tele with a jerry jones model guitar, and i just liked the tele sound much better, i chose this guitar mainly due to the price at the time the dealer had knocked off about 200 bucks i wish my tele had the b-bender setup over all a fender telecaster is a good investment.
