Often referred to as a "double tele custom " due to its twin pick ups in each position, and binding.
A unique telecaster, custom shop, unique, 1999, black tolex yellow lining, black retro leather thin strap with shoulder pad, certificate, 'custom shop'logo picks and cloth
lets see-mine is the champagne sparkle plastic top (these also come in silver sparkle and black-black version alone has ebony board and gold dots and side markers) and matchin sparkle pick guard, african (light color) rosewood, pearl fretboard side markers, sperzel locking tuners, cream moto binding (not visisble straight on only form the side, 2 piece korina body, thru string ferrules (not fully recessed), 5 way selector, 22 frets, normal single volume and tone (early flat top version with large knurls-(tone control also has no load notch position at maximum), double lip stick at neck and double tele at bridge (i understand these pickups to be unwiue to this model in thier wind and sound), extra long ferrous tele bridge unit, three vintage style brass saddles, highly figured maple neck (9.5") with skunk stripe in center of back, id describe as a medium shallow 'c', gloss finish on neck and korina back, id guess about 7.5 to 8 lbs.

What a tele. tasteful twang, considerable snap and grind , all through humbuckers!!!!!!
I have a boutique builder vintage broadcaster clone too, so thats one benchmark-i ab'd the two in the same pick up mode (both neck and bridge in series)and i was surprised at how very very close these sounded. The clone is more open airy and middy, the Jorgenson a bit more tighly focused and punch, a bit scooped-probably the necks and body materials and size-still remakably close-id guess the pick up wind is very similar
I play blues, jazz, rock, chet, jimi, and a bit of rockabilly. I am amazed at this guitar.
Reader should note that this guitar only functions in humbucker mode-either the duals linked as hums, or singles of one of each of the neck and bridge linked in series or parallel (selector positions 2 and 4) -so its missing the 60 cylcle hum and its got quite a bit of les paul-like punch-but this isnt a less paul at all-it has a lot of twang and grind-that ferrous bridge and brass saddles ill bet-
and with the tone rolled to the 'sweet spot" (about 6) it becomes just broadcaster like-less twang but beef-more and you get a very alive jazz box-
great with my tweed deluxe, blackface bandmaster and marshall 6100-its a really unusual tele because it sounds tele-like but can overdrive like a humbucker-but doenst get the multi harmonics of a humbucker-still single notes-nor does it have the notorious tele dead spot for harmonics at the would-be twenty fourth fret-
it is a nice bright crisp sounding tele humbucker guitar-sounds like a tele but fatter like a humbucker-but-no mud
i attach a description from the man himself
"The pickups on the DTC are unique unto themselves. They are not each standard Tele windings, as they are designed to always be combined with a second coil, either the mate or a coil from the neck pickup, and standard winding would make for too dark of a pickup. They don't really sound just like a quiet normal Tele either-the bridge PU is pretty full sounding, with more bottom end and output than a standard Tele, and the neck PU sounds a bit like a Gibson 175, but with a more transparent top end. The middle position sounds pretty traditional, and the inside two coils sound a bit Stratish, and the outside two coils sound somewhat like a Jaguar. I didn't really plan to replicate a traditional Tele sound with the DTC, but wanted to come up with something that hadn't existed before.
The korina body sounds a little warmer and fatter perhaps than an ash body, but I haven't had the same PUs on two different body woods, so it is really hard to compare. The first proto was a mahogany body, and I wanted to try korina for a little brighter sound and lighter weight and it worked. Thanks for the tip on the Tele page, it sounds like fun.
Cheers,John Jorgenson"
so what can i add-except it has been over thirty years since i had jag sound, and its not at all as bad as I remember it-very subdued (subdude!) oh yes it sustains a good dela more than a 'normal' tele-it ought to with a mahogany like body....

Nice job Fender-nice fret work, nice set up, nice finish (it is poly tho), nice piece of korina, nice neck , good binding good woods all round-nothing to complain of-nothing
doesnt feel delicate (my broadcaster clone is 6 lbs and is alive with vibrations by comparison) but rather like a les paul IMHO-not the neck just overall heft-the neck is a slimmish c shape
i hate the fact taht fender uses what i consider poor quality rosewood-africa rosewood is lighter in color-not what one should expect on a $4K guitar (retail price not mine!!!)

not an issue-well built and sturdy-(probably could be an army issue for infantry but for the weight and sparkles!!)

I have played thirty five years. I am a Les Paul player primarily. This tele is truly a great axe, unique, versatile, thoughtful. this guitar IMHO rivals a strat with a s-s-h configuration for sheer versatility-truly a guitar which can cover any genre and do it well.
Cosmetically its a bit out of the ordinary for me, as I have always loved the look of wood, and simple understatment, but after playing it, combined with the price, there was no touching this guitar-id would say that this instrument is indeed worth its original retail price-something i rarely say
i have come to prefer larger necks and lighter bodies-this guitar doesnt have either and its doesnt matter becasue its such a pleasure.
I am not driven into my high ratings due to its Custom Shop designation-the last 'CS' i had, a bonnie raitt strat, wasnt special at all, this one is and its only a team built model(presumable lesser than a master built )
WOuld i pay retail-i dont knwo-im not a tele enthusiast -getting there-i had a hard time paying even less for my lp hysteric-but based on what i spent, its condition and overall excellence, this is one fantastic guitar.

Mine was made in 1999. It also comes in champagne sparkle. I do not really have to describe the features, because it is the same as already described in the first review. Also you can read a description on fenders website.
I like to add that the neck is a very curly bird's-eye and that the neck shape is more on the thin side but has an unusual shape nevertheless: The upper shoulder is beefier than the lower to make the playing with the thumb over the fretboard easier. At least that's what I think.
Pick-Up config: I do not really know, because when I bought it first, I thought the neck pick-up is a little too quiet in comparison to the other pick up configs. After some playing and a lot of strange noises I realized the neck pick up is broken!!! (I bought the guitar brand new)
Because I bought it in another state it was too much of a hassle to ship it back, so I had to completely rewire the pick up and -selection. That was an additional $200!
Now it sounds awesome, but I'm not quite sure if the current wiring is really the original. So if anybody has an original wiring scheme please let me know!

It is completely humfree and has a very big sound with endless sustain.
I do not use a lot of effects besides an analog delay and of course it fits great with my Fender Vibro King.
It is very versatile, also with turning the treble down you can get a lot of useful jazzbox sounds.
Position 2 and 4 sound very much like the in-between strat settings.
The elongated tele-style bridge plate (because of the double bridge Tele-pickups - not strat pickups!!!) inhibits fingerpicking a little bit.

Of course the overall workmanship is immaculate.
On the downside it has a very high action, which I find unusual for a custom shop set-up and factory equipped gauge 009-strings.
Everything is great but the poor factory set-up is a little bit annoying.

This is a tele - so it is build very solid.
On the other hand it is a rare and expensive guitar, so it makes you handle it with care.

I did not take advantage of the warranty, but I would have appreciated if the guy in the shop would have told me about the broken pickup - He must have known!!!!

Super cool instrument, but not cheap - so it has a great value if you are into Fender custom shop stuff.

This is a 1998 custom shop Tele made in the USA. It has a five way selector switch running to a strange pick up configuration. At the bridge it has two strat type pick-ups put together like a humbucker and in the neck position it has two tele type pick-ups in a humbucker configuration. The 1st position is a humbucking series, 2nd pos. is bridge south & neck north series, #3 is Neck and bridge humbucking, #4 is Bridge north and neck south parallel and #5 is a humbucking series. It has a killer Champagne sparkel top,Korina wood body, Birds-eye neck and African rosewood (22 fret) fretboard with medium type frets. Locking Sperzel tuners, standard tele type bridge and beefy control knobs. It also came with a nice black tolex HSC. My only real complaint is the Tele style bridge is kind of uncomfortable for palm muting, but this is not to specific to this guitar just Teles in general. Overall this guitar is put together very well.

I play all types of music (rock, blues and country)and this has to be the most versatile guitar I have ever owned. It really likes to play the blues! The amount of diffrent sounds you get is amazing. It is not to twangy for me, it has a nice jangle versus a the twang. I have had this guitar for about 2 months now and really have not found anything I do not like about it. I play thru a Top Hat with 2 green back Celestion 25 watts and a Fender Blues Deluxe. I also run a TS-9 tube screamer and an Ibanez SM-9 super metal petal and the guitar does very well with both.

I have been playing off and on for the past 15 years. I have had almost every type of guitar you could think of and this guitar is by far my favorite. If it were stolen I'd hunt down the crook and beat him with it! I would get another one for sure! I love almost everything about this guitar. The only thing I am a little frustrated about is the body edges are a little sharp. It can be uncomfortable to play from time to time. This usually occurs when I am sitting and playing. I stand up and the problem is solved? IT is not a light guitar. Weight is similar to a Les Paul, but I do not mind! This is an expensive guitar (rtl around 4,000), but if you can get one I'd recommend this one any day. I had a PRS and it was a POS in my opinion!
