'02 Made in Korea. Has 20 vintage frets and Fishman acoustic pickup.

Sound : 4
It sounds muddy when finger picked and too middy when strummed.
I simply don't recommend this guitar to anyone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Vintage frets are horrible to play. It is very unusual for acoustic guitar to have vintage frets.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The finish of this guitar was okay.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Fender but I would like to ask them why they keep making horrible guitars.. They used to make awesome guitars in 50 and 60s, and now they make crappy low end guitars. In my opinion, Mexi made Strats are horrible.

Overall Rating : 4
This guitar is not worth buying even for practice so save up your money and aim for Taylor acoustic. Taylor is much easier to play and sound very full. Also beautiful too.

Made in 2000 in Korea. Has 22 Frets and Fishman Classic 4 (Piezo) Active pickup with 3-band EQ with added "Brialliance" adjustment, volume slider and low battery light. Solid top spruce, Rosewood Fretboard, Mahagonay sides and back. Dreadnaught cutaway. Medium size neck, nothing included. The factory strings sucked (I dont know how they plan to sell the guitar to people who don't know anybetter with junky factory strings, I immediatly put Elixer strings on it and improved the action and tone noticably). Nothing else came with it.

Sound : 8
It has a very bright sound. In my opinion it blows away all other acoustic/ electrics in it's class. I play it unplugged on some occasions. When I record, its through through a Boss-ME30 with only reverb and a touch of Chorus. When I play out it's through the Boss ME30 as well and then a Fender HotRod Deluxe 1x12. EQ on the amp is level and reverb is all the way down, Presence at about 4. It sound great (again given it's class).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The guitar was set-up decent from the factory. As formentioned the strings that fender puts on their guitars are horrible. The action was okay, I had to straighten out a little bit of buzz. No noticable flaws with exception of some scuffs on the EQ.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar will withstand live playing with no problems. Comes with only one strap button. I like the fact that that the input is in the bottom strap-button. This seems more sturdy, keeps the chord out of the way and on other acoustics with the input seperate it seems like the nut is always loose. It's a reall pain when the input falls into the guitar especially right before performance. I would never come to a gig without a back-up but I'm not particularyl worried about this guitar. I expect it should last a long time.

Customer Support : 9
Fender has always been reliable. You can depend on them to stand behind their products from squires to strats.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing for about 6 years. I have a Lonestar strat, I recently owned a Galveston Acoustic Electric hunk of junk that collapsed at the headstock with no warning, hence my recent purchase. I'm not too disappointed however, this guitar seems like twice the guitar the Galveston was.

I have no buyers regret whatsoever, If I lost it tomorrow I would buy this same thing If I could get this same deal again. There's nothing that particularly bothers me about this guitar. It was a solid purchase, it sounds, looks and plays very well.

I wish manufacturors would start making acoustics with two strap buttons. I hate playing with the strap tied around the headstock. As soon as I have some time I am going to put on antother button.

Made in 2000/2001? (Currently on layaway at Sam Ash in NJ.) Fender Acoustic Dreadnaught body (full size), single cut-away. Spruce top, mahogany bottom & sides. Rosewood fretboard with nicely dress frets and a rosewood bridge. Fishman Piezo under the saddle and features a 3 band EQ. Made in Korea.

Sound : 9
I really like the full sound when both plugged in and un-plugged. I've been casually looking at Acoustic/Electric guitars for the past year or two, and this guitar sounds great compared to other guitars I've tried in this price range.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Appears to be extremely well put together. Factory set action is much better than most other acoustics I've played at any price. The salesperson noticed some minor scratches on the fretboard near the nut around the low E string, so he brought out another DG-20CE and it played just as nice.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm hoping it will be reliable & durable. I really think it will based on the Fender reputation, and what I've seen so far.

I really was not quite ready for an Acoustic/Electric at this time. I wanted to put together a part-time duo act and get some work lined-up first, but the special price and the quality of the instrument just made sense to put some money down now. I'm really looking forward to using it. I feel this is a great instrument for anyone looking to play as a hobbie, or to play professionally. It sounds great, plays great and is reasonably priced.

Good features for the price. Mine has a fairly tight grain Spruce top,
Rosewood fingerboard and very attractive Rosewood headstock and mother-of-pearl Fender logo. Back and sides are Mahogany and it has
an attractive cutaway for access to high frets. Also comes with high-gloss finish. Best feature of all is the built-in Fishman pre-amp system. I do not play out, but like to do home recording with my 4-Track and this guitars built-in system makes it an incredible value.

Sound : 9
The sound was the reason I bought this guitar. I had been considering the Larrivee D02E and the Martin DM, but they were both close to $600. I was totally surprised by how nice this guitar sounded. Not as bass-heavy as the Larrivee or the Martin, but has a wonderfully rich mid-range tone, with a nice bright ring that isn't too tinny sounding. Just right for strummers or finger pickers. I play folk-rock mostly (The Verve, REM, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, TTWS, etc.) and this guitar is just pefect for that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar was far superior to the other DG-20CE models in the shop for reasons I will list in the overall rating. Only flaw was that it buzzed quite a bit. The tech at Mars gave the rod a quick tweak and the buzz went away. The action was lower than most acoustics, which I like, and it still plays wonderfully. The fret work is of typical average-to-above average quality found on entry-level Fender models. I have yet to find any build or finish flaws on this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I only use it for playing on the couch and home writing/recording.
Would love to hear it through a PA someday. I've been playing it constantly for about 4 weeks now and believe that it will be a very
reliable and durable instrument for years to come.

Overall Rating : 10
It should be noted that the other DG-20CE models I looked at were inferior to mine for the following reasons: The others had a Les Paul
style input jack in the lower corner, mine is in the strap peg. The others had a Fender pickup system, mine has a Fishman. The others had black painted bridge, mine has natural wood with gloss finish. The others had a wide grain on the top, but mine is very tight. I don't know why these differences were there, but they were all the same price. Maybe mine is a newer or older model? Shop around and compare before you buy. Bottom line is, the guitar sounds great. It's got that rich, ringing Dreadnaught sound and to get the Fishman system as well for under $400. with superior build quality is just an incredible value.

acoustic/electric 6 string with cutaway, select spruce top, mahogany sides & back. natural wood with high gloss finish.

not a bad sounding guitar for $299 (thru music123.com). it has a nice rounded bass sound & a not too clanky treble sound. my buddy has a $2800 taylor that sounds much warmer & mellower than this fender, but for under $300 i am impressed. i played a $499 takamine at guitar center & my fender is better sounding. plugged in, it's ok. i use a carvin solid state 100 watt 2x12 amp. i still have to play around with the eq controls on the guitar to find out the best sound. ive only had the guitar 1 week now.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the action is a little bit too high for me. i will have to read up on truss rods & maybe i will try to tweak it a little bit. anybody out there know how to do this? very nice tuners. they turn smoothly & feel expensive. the frets are i little grainy. i tried to polish them & it helped a little. i think a few months of playing & bending strings will smooth them out though. the add said "select spruce top" but i wonder if it is a solid one. hmmm i cant tell. the grain isnt as tight as my 1979 takamine f400 12 string. overall the guitar look like it was built better than most $300 guitars.

Reliability/Durability : 8
i give it the standard "8".

i shopped around & this fender was the most guitar for my money. good workmanship, good tone, good looks & the fender name. i didnt want to buy a $300 mitchell guitar, or an archer, or some such no name brand. i am pleased with my purchase. a little lower action & a little better tone would make this guitar equal to or better than most of the over $1000 acoustics i have tried at the guitar center store. if it was lost or stolen, i wouldnt have the $$ to replace it & i would sulk for days.

Mid '98 20 fret cut-away w/built in p-ups and 3 band eq. Mine is a natural finish and the workmanship is of very high quality.

Sound : 10
I must have played 60 guitars the day I bought this one, it has a very sweet smooth sound throughout the spectrum. It sounds very well unplugged and equally well plugged in. It does however seem to be very hot (loud) when plugged in, so the volume knob stays on no more than a quarter. The only thing anyone could need when playing a gig is a dampner to reduce feedback.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It was set up rather well off the shelf, I was very impressed at the fit and finish of this this gutar(especally at the price point $400) It has wonderful action(about an 1/8" on the 12th) with no buzzing. I have found no flaws to speak of.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a very tough git with some alright electronics, its a very tough finish I have nicked it in a coupla places but it was my own damn fault. So far it has never failed me (except for a dead battery) and have always used it without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Fortunatly I have never had a problem with it.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing about 9 years. I would be heartbroken if i lost this git(like I said I played about 60 before buying this one,I tried Alvarez's, Guilds, Martins, Washburns, Ovations , and Gibsons) I have only found 1 other guitar around the same price point ( it was a Takamaine) that even came close to pleasing me. the only other guitar i have found that I like better was a $1600 Taylor and I dont have that much cash to burn. If you are in the market for a decent acoustic with some nice features and great fit and finish, the Fender DG 20 CE is a great git for the cash.

Fender Acoustic Dreadnaught body with a single cut-away. The top is solid spruce and the back and sides are mahogany. The neck is nato. The tuners are what appears to be Ping knock-offs. The whole guitar has an high-gloss finish. There is a rosewood fretboard with nicely dress frets and a rosewood bridge. The top has a tortoise shell pickguard. The acoustic/electric pickup appears to be a Fishman Piezo under the saddle and features a 3 band EQ with gain and tone control.
The guitar has a mother-of-pearl Fender logo in the headstock and a nicely cut and glued binding. Nice fit and finish. Good example of what Korean labor can produce.

Sound : 10
I am using the guitar with an Ibanez PT-4 pedal and a Crate GX-40c amp. The guitar has a bright mid to high tone along with a rich sweet bass from the mahogany back and sides. The tone is well balance so that lows are clear and distinct, and have good resonance, while the highs shine through. The result is a balance sound that is not overpowering at the low end, nor week and thin at the high end.
This is a great guitar for flat-picking and sound very mellow for finger style work. The tone is similar to older Martin 000-15 mahogany guitars from pre-war days. It has a similar sonic spectrum.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Off the shelf, sao to speak, the action was very slightly higher than I wanted it. It was not bad, but, I found myself adjusting the truce rod. This is not something I'd recommend to someone without experience. The guitar was probably just taken from the carton and placed on the wall hanger.
The bridgeis very clean, no chips or splinters in the cut work. The binding was perfect. Under the set neck was a small area of black paint were a trim brush must have slipped and nobody caught it. The flaw is not visible unless you go looking for it.
There are no squeeks, no improperly fit areas, everything seems to be in perfect order mechanically and the electronics work flawlessly.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This is a well-built guitar. The machines seem to be fairly solid and I doubt that I'll ever have problems with them. The gear ratio seems excellent.
The neck is well mounted and the guitar's heft says to me that it is a pretty robust piece of craftsmanship.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not needed any help with this or any Fender guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
I have played guitar for over 30 years and have owned many fine instruments. I don't judge a guitar by its price. I just it by the sound, the performance of the neck, and the expectations I have based on the price. this is one guitar that I feel rivals guitars of much higher price in quality of materials, assembly, and performance. I am still amazed that Fender can produce such economical guitars with such high quality when many other makers charge much more for less quality and performance.
The action of this guitar is really great and I fell in love with the tone when I first started playing it.
Before selecting this guitar, I compared it to Takemine, Larrivee, Martin DM series, X series, and 00-15 Martin concert body. I looked at a couple lesser known alternatives (Tacoma, Dean, Blue Mountain).
It would be nice to see this guitar in a sunburst color. Other than that, I can think of nothing I'd add and I certainly wouldn't take anything away from it. Fender has a winner with this one.

it was made in I would guess '98 in Korea. It has 20 frets, rosewood fingerboard, I THINK it has a solid spruce top, spruce back & sides. It has a Fender transducer with a three-band eq, volume and tone controls. I'm not sure what the neck is, but whatever it is, I don't particularly care for it because it is finished in black like the guitar and is not very fast. it didn't come with ANYTHING, which kinda sucks.

Sound : 10
sounds pretty good unplugged, but it doesn't really respond all that well to playing it dynamically, especially when playing chords. good separation with solos, though. It sounds really good plugged in. The eq is really useful for getting richer or brighter sound, though the tone control doesn't seem to do very much. It's also very loud plugged in.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I suppose the guitar was set up perfectly for how it was supposed to be set up, but it was not necessarily set up the way I like it. It has a fat neck, and is a big guitar in general, of course, I am a small person. after playing this guitar for a while, I feel as fast as Clapton playing on my electric. one thing that was great when i bought it was the finish. that's a big reason i bought this one.

Reliability/Durability : 8
All of the important stuff on this guitar is great. I would definitely gig without a backup, and I think this thing will last forever. However, there are a couple of little things that really get me. I don't play especially rough, and I always keep it in its case when I'm not playing, but it seems to get scratches out of no where, and they're especially noticable because of the black finish. i don't think the paint would ever chip, or anything like that, because i've hit it against a lot of stuff and it's still ok.

Customer Support : No Opinion
dunno, i doubt i'll ever have a problem big enough to need to contact fender.

Overall Rating : 9
Great guitar, its one of the best acoustics i've played, I guess i just don't like the feel of acoustics. sounds great, doesn't give feedback except when run through pedals at high volume, and that's not what acoustics are for anyways. I've been playing for about a year, and I also have a Yamaha pacifica 412, or something like that, which i like a lot. i play mostly classic and modern rock, with a little bit of hard rock, but that's obviously not what i bought this guitar for. sounds great for pretty much any style, though, especially plugged in.
