Here's what is interesting! I have a black standard strat with the exact same pick up tremolo and heads. Alder body etc. the only difference is the paint. But the Satin strat has more sustain and chime. I had no intention of buying another strat but this guitar had a warmer sound than my other mex, strat. The satin strat is louder unplugged. Hence I dopped 370 for another strat

I have had great luck with fenders strats are sxtremely reliable. I arm concern with the stock tremole bar. The MIM strat have thinner tremolo block than the american strats. These may be a problem under heavy use

Made in 2003. Mexican strat but I can't tell much difference between it and the American ones. 3 single coils, nice satin finish. I suddenly had a few more friends after buying it...

Sounds amazing, from clear clean chords to high gain solos. I play a lot of styles and this guitar fits most of them. I mostly play the red hot chili peppers and they cover a few styles but it sounds great for all of them.

I've only had it for a couple of months but I've already got a large scratch on the body and I have to be careful because it is so easy to damage. I've had no other problems at all though.

If I lost this guitar, I would get another one as soon as I could. When I was trying it I compared to it to American Strats (which I couldn't afford) but I think I would choose this one over them anyway.

just and update:
I've had it for half a year now, and the finish is very damaged, the back has lost all its satin feel and look, a lot of scratshing due to my agressive chording style, and they dont go away.
So, it looks great but i bet the satin look is gone in a couple of years

Midnight wine, satin beauty with rosewood fretboard. Other features pretty well covered here. I cannot get over the finish of this strat. Good to the TOUCH as well as to the ears.
10 just because she FEELS so good.

I began searching for a "clean" ringing guitar after playing hums for so long. Even my '72 tele had hums so I thought, why not a "true tele". I never cared for the looks of the "horned" strat. So I thought I would be buying a tele like the Deluxe Nasvhille which had the 5 way switch.
Almost by sheer curiosity I picked up the satin strat. Clear, beautiful, chime like, every note ringing out, it was like hearing the guitar for the first time. For half the price of the tele, it was not hard to decide on the strat.
The real clincher came though when I was playing the satin strat next to a guy who was wrapping up the deal on a more expensive strat. But when I started playing the satin his jaw dropped. We then A-B'd the two guitars. You know which one he bought. Yeah the satin!
Is it the finish? Is it the rosewood? Who knows but it has sound in spades.
I really like the tonal variety and it suits my style for country, jazz, blues-rock styles. Throw in some classical too. I play it through a blues tube, guyatone compressor, line 6 DL4 to my board to my computer.
Amps: 60 Blues cube, Peavey Triumph, and a Pignose Hog20.

I love this guitar. Medium string action suits me since I am no shredder. I will put 12's on it for the times I use a slide and drop the top string to a D. No buzzes. Mexican quality control seems to do a good job because all 3 satin strats I have played have been very consistent.
I may be missing something but being lovestruck, I give it an 8 because there is no perfect guitar.

I am concerned about the finish. How would you remove a scratch? This will not be my gig guitar for that reason but a house recording, playing only guitar. I will totally "baby" this guitar.
Hardware? They have done everything they possibly could to bring this guitar in at this price point. I expect to eventually replace most of the hardware especially if I decide to go "gold". Wow, what a fabulous look on this wine body!!!

Warrenty, shmoranty, who cares. With the improved upgrades planned, I don;t think I will ever deal with Fender.

I play at a level just above annoying after 30+ years. I took my time in shopping for my "next guitar". I kept going back to this strat for the sound. The finish was just a big bonus. Oooh that neck!
Being guitar #5, I knew I had to find the "One" as it may be my last shot for a long time to come. I bumped my price range up to $900 to fulfill the requirement. The price here was exceptional and was $500 below the level of guitar dollars I expected to pay. That's what I love about this guitar. It comes with a $500 shopping spree in my mind for my upgrades. It just adds up to such a great value and still carries the Fender name.
The only other guitar that would compare pretty well at this price point was a Samick with seymore duncans. It sounded good at least in the store. (But don't they all to a degree?) But I wasn't interested in savings as I was in making a good investment.
If something happened to this guitar, (tease me, like what?), I would replace it in a heartbeat.
My favorite feature? It's mine!

2003 Model, Made in Mexico
Has 21 frets and a 3 single coil Stratocaster pickup config
The satin finish is absolutely beautiful.
Has the standard strat controls (volume,2 tone knobs,5-way selector)
I believe my body was maple & the fretboard was rosewood.
The trem was decent.
I didn't recieve any accessories.

Im all about having a clean sound & thats exactly what
I got from this guitar. I'm using a MG50DFX Marshall amp, sounds great.
No dislikes at all.

Been playing with it for 1/2 a year, haven't had a single problem yet.
I love how I hardly ever have to clean the body since you can't see fingerprints on the satin finish. I would play this at a gig without
a backup anyday.

Never had to deal with them.
The warranty for any defects in materials & workmanship is lifetime.
But for any components it's only 1 year.

Great guitar. I'd prolly change the pickups, buts thats just my personal preference. Best finish I've ever seen on a guitar.

Made in 2003 this is the very latest fender model
As usual is has 21 frets and a 3 singel coil Stratocaster pickup config, great harmonics btw.
i dont now the body's wood but the finish is fantastic, fender describes this guitar as classy looking, classy is an understatement, it looks FRICKIN AMAZING, i fell in love with it the second i saw it in the shop,
Standard trem system (nicely set).
I bought a case with it but it wasnt included with the guitar
1 bad thing though......its a Tex-Mex. just use some sandpaper and srape it of your headstock :-)
Sound
:

i'm the pure rythmguitarist of Ganesh (my band) dont really need the harmonics but they do work!.
and with a proper amp it can make any sound you wish ANY
just 1 dislike though, it humms at high volume, but you can fix this by installing a humbucker for (in my case) 60 Euro's

Fantastically set-up! but fender didnt do that, it was the guy in the guitar shop who always does that with new guitars

i'm just a little bit afraid the finish gets damaged
