The pickup configuration is S/S/S with 3 Lace Sensor Gold, and for me they give it a sound closer to a strato than a tele, anyway I found a big sound diversity with this guitar.

A few month ago I bought this guitar in Argentina, where I live, and I paid it US$2700.- and I think it was the better buy I realized in my 26 years in the musical industry. I would buy it again.

It's a 97 made in the US with 22 medium jumbo frets and has a maple fretboard. It has a five way toggle and a little switch that makes the guitar's range almost endless. It is equiped with three gold lace sensors that provide a very vintage tone in the neck position, but still give you the typical "tele twang" in the bridge position.

When using the neck pickup you get the deep warm vintage sound without sacraficing the treble. It's great for blues and clasic rock, country music and funk. The 7 pickup configurations that brings a great variety of tones. I have played it through several amps and it sounds great on almost anything, but it sounds best through a Fender tube amp. I play throug a 70's twin reverb with a morly clasic wah.

This guitar was made in 1997. 22 Frets, maple fret board, pearloid pickguard, medium wide frets, volume & tone controls, and 7 pickups combinations for 3 Lace Sensor Gold pickups. This guitar sounds, feels and looks GREAT.

I love this guitar. I cannot tell you how suprised and happy I was to see what high quality this thing is! This guitar is incredibly versatile! I don't use effects, just my Fender SuperChamp and sometimes a Tube Screamer. I play slide and it has that liquid sustain that my slide loves.
In this guitar you can find the classy Tele sound, and a very Strato sound too.

Mine is a '91 American Telecaster Plus Deluxe Finished in Ebony Frost. This is a Rare Telecaster that is loaded with the following: Maple/Rosewood Neck, 22 Frets, 7.25 Neck Radius, Ash Maple Body, Fender/Spertzel Locking Tuners, Wilkinson Roller Nut, Lace Sensor Blue Neck Single Coil Pickup, Lace Sensor Red Dual Coil Bridge Pickup, 3-Way Toggle Pickup Selector Switch, 3-Way Mini Toggle Coil Split Switch for Bridge Pickup, Volume Knob, TBX Tone Knob, Fender Deluxe Two Point Fulcrum Tremolo, Strap Locks, Fender Hardshell Case... This Instrument was given very generous appointments... Tele/Strat/Paul in one Body... I Like It!

I would give this guitar a 10 for Sound if it wasn't for the fact that this is a very Subjective area... Definitely better than many that I've listend to over the years and I must say that the Pickups are Dead Silent (No Noise) through a 100 Watt Tube Amp using 4 x EL34's and 3 x 12AX7's through a 4 x 12 Cabinet... The tones coming from this guitar are not the Pure Tele Tones one expects though... Lace Sensors do produce a very Fenderish sound but not that "VERY Twangy" or "VERY Quacky" sound that immedietly distinguishes the Instrument... You Fralin Advocates out there know exactly what I'm talking about...
Don't get me wrong though - the Tones are Excellent and there are lots of them... 7 at the Switches without touching the Volume or Tone Knobs... The TBX is a Detent Boost type... So yes, this Guitar is VERY Versatile...
Overall I'm like the Tones this Guitar Produces and Absolutely Love the Quietness of the Single Coil Settings... I'm still experimenting with other gear to see how it sounds in a different configuration and in all fairness this is a new addition to my team of workhorses.

When I got this Guitar it had a Slight Backbow and the 21st fret was Slightly Elevated. The neck was removed from the Body... I had the Frets Leveled and Crowned and the neck placed back on the body... After that the Guitar was Setup by the same Tech (Tony at Play Hard Music). Once done - wow - what a difference... Great Action and so far I've used it at 3-Gigs with no issues.
A couple of things that one should be aware of with these guitars are as follows:
It is unusually heavy... At least equal to the weight of a Heavy Les Paul... This is Great for Sustain, Tone and Such... But for the Gigging Musician at least a Consideration to be pondered. I thought it would be an issue for me - but I've gotten used to it...
The other thing is the Tremolo... Yes, a Telecaster that is Tricked Out right on down to the Tremolo... Although it has Locking Tuners and a Roller Nut do not mistake this with a Floyd Type Locking System thinking it doesn't pull itself out of tune - because IT DOES... the trick is Stretching the Strings and for us Fender Type Guys we're used to pulling them back into tune... 8^)

I'm impressed already with how it has held up for 16 Years... The Maintenance I did was just due to neglect on the part of the Prior Owner... The Guitar works Perfect and there are no Wiring, Pot, or Switch issues... Fender did a Great Job on this one...

Fender was very helpful on the phone when trying to figure out what this was... I was told when I purchased it that it was a'99 and noone knew which Model it was... The Rep at Fender gave me all the Specs and we spoke for quite some time about Telecaster Construction... I though he was very polite and helpful... He seemed glad to talk to me and didn't act like I was a bother or waisting his time... As for customer Service on Newly Purchased Items I have no experience...

I've been playing for 30 Years... I'd give it a 10 but there are lots of Telecasters out there... I have alot of Gear and this could wind up being a permanent addition. If it were stolen I would definitely like to have another. I think it's one of the Coolest Telecasters I've ever seen... The only things I'd change would be the weight and maybe experiment with Pickups, Wiring and Tremolo Setups...
If you see one of these you might want to Snatch it up - they're hard to find... Fender told me they only made them for one year...

I own a 1991 Tele Plus Deluxe - the year I believe they first came out. The bottom line is that out of hundreds of guitars I've tried, this is hands down the smoothiest, maintenance free guitar I could have ever wished for.
Besides looking great (red burst), I have played this baby every weekend + more since '91. It has made more humidity changes & taken bumps in its case & I can count the adjustments I've had to make on it on one hand.
Loaded with features (the only Tele with a whammy?) and it has kept compliments coming in since I bought it - well worth hunting down, I think they're currently $1000-1500. Wish I would have bought 2 at the time!

Because the burst pattern was done in layers, I have heard numerous other owners say that even the mildest rubbing against your waist/pants area during regular playing has worn throught the vinish & down to the wood. That was a disappointment
