2002 Tom Delonge Stratocaster. Made in Mexico.
I got mine in Black with a pearloid Pickguard.
I must say, that i am not a fan of Blink 182..Nor do i own any music worked on by Tom Delonge. I do however love this guitar. 21 Medium/Jumbo Frets.
The guitar has a string through/Hard Tail bridge. Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader in the bridge. It has one volume knob. The tuners are the vintage kluson style tuners. The body seems to be a one or two piece Alder. The neck is a beautiful "C shape" with a CBS 70's headstock. This is made on the "Deluxe series" platform. When the pickguard is removed, the body IS routed to the Standard SSH.

Bought mine used. It had some small scratching..Nothing bad enough o noice unil i got i home.

Sound : 8
I play moderate rock. I play mostly to studio record and write music. I play through some small practice amps and systems. As an instrument, his IS one of the best i have owned. The sustain is somewhat lacking a times, but the tone easily makes up for any losses the guitar has in that department.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Beautiful finish. Polyurethane on the body and a satin finish on the neck.
The action was off when i purchased it used. It was quickly remedied by a good guitar tech. The bridge seems tight and good. The low E sring does however seem a little close to the edge of the guitar neck. The tech made notice of it, but noticed that the nut was perfect. This could be explained by the possibility of the bridge being slightly, not centered perfectly. This does not effect the playability and may have been done to give a little more zip code to the high E.

No tuning problems like some have stated. Great cut nut. Frets are a little rough but can be easily repaired.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar will withstand live gigging and will last a long time.
Had a loose strap button..Changed the screw and it is tight.
Very dependable and nice. You could gig with this alone..but you would be an idiot to do this with any guitar.

Customer Support : 10
warranty for life.

Overall Rating : 8
been playing for 10 years +.
I have owned Gibsons i have liked less.
It rivals my american guitars.
I will never not own one. I love the no frills attitude of this guitar. This is better than any standard strat and is better than the highway 1 series.
I wish it had more versatility with the tone.

i bought this guitar from a friend, he stopped playin the guitar and he sold me thesurf green and black version both for only 200,i cant complain, the fact that theres only one pick up is a downside but if you play punk/metalcore/hardcore/grindcore/alternative/poppunk/indie it should be a problem. the tuners could be challenging at first

Sound : No Opinion
it has a really good amount of tone. it sounds so good. it suits my music style great. it has a really full sound. check the tom delogne videos on youtube theres a bunch thats the best advice i can give you

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion

Reliability/Durability : 4
the only thing bad i have to say about this guitar is what the **** is up with that damn pickup! it always feels like its gonna fallout i wouldnt go to crazy when playin this guitar live cus i feel like theres good chance the pickup will fly out like a bat out of hell and knock someone in the front row the **** out, but thats just the way it feels. its never actually came out it just gets really loose. its not hard to tighten teh screws but your gonna be tighting it like once a week if you like to have a good stage presence

Customer Support : No Opinion
i really wouldnt know anything about that, i never had a problem that i couldnt fix regarding the tom delonge strat

Overall Rating : No Opinion
id give it a 9. id give it a ten if it werent for that whore of a pickup always getting loose. It really stands out in every shape and form. its a real head turner. theres not a lot of guitars that are surf green, one pick up, and a pearly pickguard. its awesome. Changing strings might be a challenge the first couple time due to the vintage tuners but it shouldnt be that big of a problem

Mine was on sale after Tom DeLonge switched to Gibsons-
I had been looking at it for a while, but the original price of around
$540 (IIRC) was too high. It came down to just under $400, and I happened to have the money to nab it.
It was a little shopworn, and had some slight cosmetic flaws on the fingerboard (a bit of a knot, and a small glop of the neck finish spilled on it)
I bought it as a project. The Invader Humbucker seemed to be incapable
of a clean sound, and I like clean sounds; also, I like neck pickup sounds and neck/middle sounds.
I also like the sound of Telecasters, but dislike the lack of comfort compared to a Strat- I'm spoiled.
So I bought this to convert it to a 3-pickup hardtail Strat.
I had read of someone doing it, and it has all the routing for a normal S-S-S or S-S-H pickguard. The Squier Tom DeLonges don't have that routing- they are solid underneath the pickguard.
To me, the Strat routing is a major feature, because that means
that many Strat pickguard assemblys will work in it. I have several other pickguard/pickup assemblies I could put in it, and probably will someday as experiments.

Mine is black, and came with a white pearl pickguard, and I like the look, so I got an S-S-S white pearloid pickguard from GFS (Guitar Fetish). I also got two of their Strat-shaped Tele pickups with
inductance plates underneath to mimic the inductance of the metal cover on the Tele neck pickup and the inductance from the bridge surrounding the bridge pickup. One is hot and I put it in the neck,
the other is hotter and in the bridge. For the middle I used a ceramic single coil that GFS had on closeout.

I put the Invader bridge pickup in another Strat, and coil tapped it.
I really like the sound of the Invader coil-tapped- it also sounds
like a Tele bridge pickup- a meaty clean sound.

Sound : 8
Stock, it was terrible for my style, but if you want gnarly bridge pickup sounds I can see how the Duncan Invader would do it.

Modded, I really like it- a very different sound from a Strat, but in the same shaped package, and with the same pickup combinations.
The ceramic pickup in the middle interacts really well with the Tele-ish
pickups in the neck and bridge, and gives me a jangly quack in combo positions that puts
my regular Strat to shame. It actually sounds Rickbackerish sometimes.
All the pickup combinations are super useful sounds.
It's also louder than my regular Strat- some of this may be high output single coils, but some is the hardtail bridge.

Another odd bit of serendipity:
I had noticed that the strings seemed out of balance in
a way that was more than could be adjusted out by angling the pickup.
The bass strings were REALLY loud.
I was adjusting the height on one of the saddles, when the allen screw stripped out the threads for no reason.
I was bummed... but I had some vintage-style bridge saddles that
had had a similar problem, so I left the stock saddles on the treble strings, and put vintage saddles on the wound E, A, and D strings...
and it brought it right into balance, and sounds really good that way!

I brought the guitar to practice one night, and the praise team leader said "That guitar really has attitude!"

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Like I said, there were some minor flaws on the fingerboard, but
nothing that affects the playability of the guitar. I'm not picky
about those kinds of things.
The action is good- it's my second most playable neck, after my Standard Strat.

Like I said, I stripped out one stock bridge saddle adjusting it, so they are not really high quality.

The tuners are a tad sloppy- I don't like to tune the guitar without
an electronic tuner, while with my Standard Strat I don't mind.
I don't know whether that's the type of tuner or just these particular ones.

The slotted tuners are also a little bit difficult to deal with if you use light gauge strings like I do, at least on the E and B strings-
I do a half hitch around the tuner on one side of the slot on those strings and it avoids them slipping out like they do if installed
normally (for the slotted tuners).

Reliability/Durability : 8
The tuning saddles seem iffy, but everything else is solid.

As it is now, yeah, I'd probably gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar since I was 14 (and that's a long time ago),
but I only had a couple years experience with electric guitar in my teens (1965 or 1966 Fender Mustang).
I started playing electric guitar again about 9 years ago, and
use electrics for bluesy leads and contemporary worship music.
I can't think of a better way to get into a hardtail Strat.
I really like the look of the big headstock too.
I love the guitar- it's my Tele in disguise!
The only really similar guitar is the Robert Cray MIM Strat,
and I think those are more expensive. I'm not that big a fan of Robert Cray, and I'm not a Tom DeLonge fan at all, so I'm
glad I could take off the Tom DeLonge backplate!

70's head stock, vintage tuners, one invader, one volume and a Hardtail bridge!

Sound : 10
I love this guitar! I'll admit I Like blink but I also know toms not the best guitar player alive! I run this direct to a marshall jcm 900 with a bbe sonic maximizer in the effects loop. I only wrote this review to make a couple points. first off disregard the poeple who are more interested in making fun of punk then of writing about the guitar.
second these are made in Mexico where not all guitars are crated equal. And all of them are now being bought on the used market now! take that into consideration.

Ok i love the hardtail brigde. They sound better! And I love the way the pickup sounds! I've never found the clean channel muddy but I have a nice amp and a sonic maximizer. this isn't really a jazz or blues guitar but it dose sound great. I also have a highway one! and you can get more sounds from it! but you can't get the power that this guitar has!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
it was good. not much to say here it's chipped and skratched now but I've used it alot! I will agree however with the people that hate this guitar that the ******* pickup always wants to fall out. Don't know why but it sucks!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I play live alot with it without a backup! i have strap locks so that no problem I put tape on the pickup screws as a temp fix to keep it from failing down. the finish is as good or better then anything else! I've never had it fail me!

Customer Support : 5
it was used when I got it!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 5 years or there a bouts i play classical punk acoustic. I would find another if it was lost. I love the sound and the hardtail brigde. I'll admit that a neck pickup would be nice sometimes but i still can make a lot of tones with this guitar! the only thing I hate id the pickup failing out! i think overall the thing that i like the most besides the sound is that it looks ******* awesome! large headstock great colors yellowed finish and it's a strat!

Only one volume knob and not tone... FINE WITH ME :D This guitar is amazing. Made in mexico this baby comes with the most badass Humbucker the Seymour Duncan Invader. It has a beautiful gloss neck with a rosewood fingerboard and the neck is VERY thin and just amazing. Comes with Sperzel locking tuners so this thing never goes out of tune. I friggen love this guitar.

Sound : 10
Absolutely perfect. Blink 182 is my favorite band and i play a mix of punk and metal and this guitar suits my style PERFECTLY. Im running it through a Vox Speaker Cabinate with a Fender M-80 head and it just sounds great. The distortion is extremely crunchy and rough which i love. The cleans i find give a nice bright sound. This guitar is perfect for me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought this guitar used. The pickup was very loose and there were a few chips and scratches but with a couple hours of work it was good as new :D

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is very well made. I would defiantly use it for live shows without a backup. I have full confidence in it.

Ive never had i problem so i couldnt tell you.

I have been playing for a couple of years. I own an Epi SG-400, a Epi DOT studio and a squire Deryk Whibley Telecaster and this is EASILY My favorite of all my guitars. If it were stolen i would be heartbroken and for sure try to track down another one. I love the neck, the sound of the distortion and basically everything about it. It just gives me that great crunch that most other guitars just don't give. I could maybe ask for some tone control but the positives WELL outway that fact.
This is my Favorite guitar. I love it. Shame it is discontinued. Glad i got mine when i did!!! :D:D

This guitar is amazing, it's probably going to stay my number one for a while. I play a lot of rock, punk, and a little metal, mainly harder stuff, but with plenty of cleans thrown in here and there. This guitar is great for me. I like it because it's so simply, and makes it very simply. It is not a noisy guitar at all, because it is properly shielded, and only has one humbucker, so you don't get any 60 cycle hum. Very rich, yet still bright sound. On cleans, it can get real snappy or nice and smooth, depending on how you set the amp. I prefer to set most of my tones by way of the amp, leaving the tone on my other guitars all the way open. This guitar eliminates that need. When distorted, this thing is a beast, but it's very articulate distortion, not cheesy or muddy. Don't get me wrong, you can muddy it up if you want, but it reflects whatever settings you set. It's very loud, and very clear, and very easy to use.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I bought this baby used from a Guitar Center. Before I bought it, the in-store tech replaced the volume pot with a better one. It was shielded inside, and it has vintage style tuners with work perfectly, and hold tune fairly well, as far as I can tell. The frets have very slight wear, which is unsurprising seeing as this is one of the first models that came out. The neck is very nice, in fact probably my favorite I've played, and one of the major selling points. It is very slightly thinner than a regular fender neck, which is perfect for me. The headstock looked great, bridge is fine, tuning is a breeze, and overall everything is great aside from VERY VERY minor wear, mostly on a few frets, and one tiny like scratch on the paint near the neck joint which cannot be seen from any angle other than the player. The guitar is also a "so-ridiculous-it's-awesome" Daphne Blue, which pearloid pickguard. The nut also seems to be better quality than most. It's an Alder body, and Seymour Duncan Invader pickup. I'll give it a 9 for it's current condition, but brand new it'd be a 10.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It seems to be a very sturdy guitar, alder body, locked strap when I picked it up. the hardwear seems fine, and this guitar has already been around for about 14 years. The finish is cool, and seems very strong, because I haven't noticed any wear whatsoever. I will be using it at gigs without a backup, as well as recording an album.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't needed any support yet, the worst that happened was the new pot got really scratchy, but my local store cleaned it out for free (I love those guys). I preferred to fix it locally, because the Guitar Center I bought it at is an hour away, though they do have a 30day money back guaruntee and warranty, so they would've replaced the pot free of charge. I dont' think there's any other warranty as it's 14 years old, but I think fender would be cool anyway. I've dealt with them before, and they're nice and helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for a little over 3 years I think, and playing live almost every week during the schoolyear at my youth group. So far, so good. I love that the guitar matches my personal preferences so perfectly. Slightly thinner neck, high output pickup, vintage looks. If it was stolen, I would probably by an Invader and put it in my other favorite guitar, just because I cannot afford to buy another. I played tons of guitars, and this is probably my favorite guitar ever, including SGs, LP's, and other Fenders. This guitar has that "click" that people find when they play a guitar that suits them perfectly. It's not that there's anything physically different between this guitar and a million others, it's that personal thing that makes you really love the guitar.

Well I don't know much about the technical bits of the guitar and neither about the woods used for it.
As I said before I got it in 2002 it's a Stratocaster so the the body is obviously a Stratstyle body. It has a hardtail brige with the strings going through the body. It's plain Daphne Blue so you don't see the wood and it's made in Mexico. I never actually counted the frets...... It only has one humbucker and a volume knob, the pick up is a Seymour Duncan Invader wich is loud hehe.

Sound : 8
Some people will label it as a one trick pony because you only have one humbucker and a volume control, but you could use this guitar as a back up in your more modern style rock band and as main guitar for the punk rock stuff ofcourse.
My style of music is pop rock and punk rock, so the guitar does the job just fine for me. I had an Epiphone Les Paul when I got this guitar and it made me alot happier, so I got rid of that heavy chunk of wood called Les Paul. (no offence)
I play it through a Marshall 30 watt mainly on overdrive because that goes best with the style of music I play. It does sound nice on clean when you back the guitar volume off a bit.
I have a Boss Chorus and a Line 6 Rotomachine to add a bit of flavour to my sound, and I also have a Boss Distortion pedal wich I use when I play on my other amp.
Sure it's a noisy guitar, but that's what it's about when you play punk rock. It sounds nice and warm both on OD and clean and it's loud.....
I like the guitar alot and I will never sell it. Hehe they will have pry this guitar from my cold dead hands. The only dislike about it is that I sometimes get a bit bored with the pickup variety, or should I say the lack of it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I took the guitar straight of the wall and it played really nice. Sure I've done a bit of tweaking over the years and I play 0.10 strings so yeah, I changed them too. I never had any problems with any bits falling off or anything like that.
The only things that needed some adjustments were the output jack and the strapbuttons because they were coming loose.
I also fiddled around with the pickup height to see how the sound would change.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It's a reliable guitar, it will do the gig on it's own. But a back up would come in handy when you break a string : P
The finish is still in good condition apart from the usual scratches. And it has some damage because of a a dodgy strap of a gigbag.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never had to get it fixed so I can't give mu opinion about how the company deals with warranty or problems. I don't know how long the waranty is or was on the guitar, but it's a Fender and I heard something about lifetime waranty so I don't know.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing guitar since 2000 and I've had alot of guitars but this is one of my real babies. I never want to get rid of it and I'd hate to see it broke or stolen. Mine is a Daphne Blue Mexican made from 2002, I think they only made it in Mexico apart from the ones Mr. DeLonge played himself. (he switched to Gibson a while ago and has his own Signature model based on a ES333)
If it got stolen I'd try to get one again or maybe DeLonge's Gibson if I find the pot of gold at the bottom of the rainbow.
My other guitars are Sqiuer Stratocaster (my first) Ibanez Artcore (ES model, just an extra guitar for when I get bored) Gibson SG Classic (P90's)
I never asked anything about the guitat before I bought it, I it and took it home hehe. I just love the look of Strats and they play nice.

Made in '01, Mexican made Strat. Model that my local shop just had sitting in the back room, picked it up back in '03. Alder bodied guitar, thicker then a normal Fender Strat. One volume control, and one Seymour Duncan Invader pickup in the bridge. Standard finish in Surf Green color. Normal Fender hardtail bridge. Neck is pretty chunky, but the normal Fender size. The shop I bought this from threw in a free gig bag.

Overall, feature wise, this guitar is a great deal for $500. It could definitly have more, and the finish on mine is flawed where the neck bolts to the body, but that's no big deal since you can't really see it and it doesn't effect anything.

Sound : 7
This guitar suited my playing style perfect for the time I was using it, I was playing Blink 182 and lots of Pop-punk and punk. As expected, really good soung out of it. Ran out of a Marshall "Plexi", this thing really ripped and was great for punk/hardcore/emo/screamo. It's nice and quiet, no noticable hum from the pickup except the tiny tiny bit that's always expected. It seems to have a thicker sound then my Standard Strat, which is most likely no doubt because of the slightly thicker body. One bad thing is, it's not very versatile. With the one bridge pickup and one volume nob, you don't get much versaitily out of the guitar itself.

Overall, the sound is great, I really love how thick it is compared to standard sized Strats. It lacks in Versatility as mentioned, and this has really come to be a bad thing for me now.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I got this guitar, and it wasn't set up well, but that's what I expected since it'd just been sitting in the back of the shop for two years, but once set up, no fretbuzz or anything. The pickup height was perfectt (oddly). Only thing wrong with the finish was the flaws where the neck is bolted to the body.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'd definitly gig this guitar, and probably without backup even though I always use backup anyway. Backup wouldn't be needed. The hardware is great, and I don't see any real reason to change anything. The finish is also great, and can take a beating, since I've only carried this in a gig bag for about 3 years and it's playing perfect. The strap buttons are fine, but I always use straplocks when gigging just to be on the safe side.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for 4 and a half years now, so this was my first mid-level guitar. I would buy this guitar no matter what because of how big of a Blink fan I am. I think the best feature of this guitar is the extra thickness of the body compared to Standard Strats you can buy today. If this was stolen, I'd probably hunt down the person who took it and beat the hell out of them just because of how much I love this guitar. It plays great, sounds great, and is lightweight. The only really big problem is the single pickup in the bridge, which doesn't give alot of variety. This guitar is definitly worth the $500 or so that I bought it for.

I bought this guitar in 2003. It has 21 vintage jumbo frets, daphne blue, has 1 volume knob, 1 Seymour Duncan Invader Pickup, Maple Neck with a Rosewood fretboard, String-thru body, Kluson vintage tuners, came with a Fender Gigbag. I give it a 7 just based on the simplicity of the guitar.

Sound : 8
I'll be the first to tell you I'm not a fan of Blink 182. I use either a Fender Twin or Hiwatt DR-504 with a Marshall 4x12 cabinet. I have an MXR Stereo Chorus, a Digitech RP-7 for my Overdrive, Reverb and Delay, an MXR EVH painted Phaser, a Vox Clyde McCoy Wah, and a Ernie Ball Volume Pedal. Now to the guitar. The guitar plays great. The action is nice, intonation is dead on, and the Seymour Duncan Invader sounds really good for heavier music. When you put the guitar on just a clean setting, it sounds kinda muddy, but keep in mind that the guitar is not meant to sound like a tele or an ordinary strat. This guitar was designed for hard rock/punk music, which I play some hard rock and no punk at all. Now I have seen some posts on here about how some of the people said they hated the guitar and thought it sounded horrible. If you think it sounds horrible, you can always switch the humbucker out for another one, or do like I did with one of my other Fender Strats and buy the EMG DG20 David Gilmour Series Pickups and slap those in. Those sound amazing. I knew what to expect from this guitar so I have no regrets at all of buying it, and now that it's out of production, I have no plans of selling it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Generally the factory set-up isn't the best. I took mine to a local guitar tech and he tweaked it up and it plays great.

I've used it live many times, and it's always been great. It's not my main guitar, my main guitar is a Fender Strat with the EMG David Gilmour Pickups. I use the Tom Delonge Strat for our heavier stuff that doesn't require me to switch to a clean channel, and it works great, and I use it as a back up incase I ever break a string.

Never had to call them.

I've been playing for over 13 years. I have the Fender Strat with EMG's, the Tom Delonge Strat, a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Takamine 6 and 12-string. Like I said I don't regret buying the guitar. I don't plan on selling it b/c it's out of production. The thing I love about it is that it sounds really good when you're playing hard rock stuff. As far as the features, I love the daphne Blue, I like the fact that it's simple, and it plays great. I guess the only thing I would want is a neck pickup, but I'm not making any changes to the guitar, I'm just going to keep it stock.

Very basic (1 vol, 1 pick up, 22 frets), but it does everything I need. It's features are great looks, great simplicity and good sound.

Sound : 8
Every time i've used this at a jam night people were impressed with the clarity and definition. It's a bit forward and aggressive, but it has loads of output to drive the amp, and doesn't get muddy or really shrill. Obviously it's a perfect punk axe, but I also find it great for more aggressive Ska, rock and it even works well for blues. Use a good amp and compare it to a classic like a Les paul or a Tele and it does lack a little in 'tone', but the clarity and bite are great

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
needed a little work to be spot on (intonation, action height to suit me), but has not needed any significant work. I always spend some time moving stuff around to get it feeling right for me anyway.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Has developed a small crack in the neck pocket, but this appears to only be paint as the neck is still rock solid. So little can go wrong that it should last years

Customer Support : 10
Fender Europe are lovely chaps and always very helpful. I got these when the entire UK allocation was back ordered for over a year ; this was returned ex-demo from a show, so they called me and let me have it at a knock down price. Top boys !

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing since about 1989, and have had many guitars. I finally realised that I don't need trems, as hard tails just sound better and I don't play up the dusty end so masses of frets don't impress me. I'd rather have one good sound than 15 combinations of mediocrity. Concentrate on using your fingers to get the sounds you want ; it may even improve your playing !

there are not much to this guitar but that is just the way i like it.
all my friends tell its shit and all just cuz theres only one pickup and one knob but when i use my old guitar(a yamaha basic ones from costco) i never changed any of my tones or switched pickups.

I just love the sound of this guitar and the pickup is amazing. there are no buzzing sounds like my old guitar.

The guitar nearly looks like every other strat and when i first saw it, i thought i was just another strat too but when my frend got one n let me try n showed me the details and all, i bought one right away. the unique part of this guitar is that it only has one pickup n one knob.

I dont know about this because i havnt really dropped the guitar or anything but so far i didnt get any scratches or dents so ill just give it a 10.

You all probably know by now, so I won't bore you :)

Sound : 10
I've been playing 10 years. I play punk, metal, raw rock n' roll, and soaring guitar solos and it's perfect. I can nail anything from Van Halen, AC/DC, Offspring, Ramones, Metallica and Green Day. The invader pickup is by far the best pickup I have ever used. I even installed one on my Fender Big Apple Strat, and it still sounds amazing - but the Delonge model still sounds fuller. I think it is due to the lightweight body and the string through bridge. (The tremolo bridges add a lot of weight and you loose some sustain). To this day, I am amazed at how versatile this guitar is - yet the ironic thing is that it's just One Volume and One Pickup. I guess Less really is MORE. I currently play through a Fender Stage 100 combo - no effect pedals - just straight through the amp. Remember - Less is MORE.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action can be set up on any guitar to fit your taste. The finish appears very strong and looks perfect. The neck is very smooth, nice job on the edges. Guitar was built very well. I have heard people complain about the tuners because they are "vintage style" but I have had NO problems. Stays in tune very well. I have played guitars with Locking Tuners and such, and there's no difference in my opinion. Awesome quality guitar!! It's a shame Tom Delonge left Fender. Some people might hesitate because it's made in Mexico - but you all have nothing to worry about. Mexico builds some kick A** Fenders.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very durable. No problems. I've played gigs without a backup before, but it sucks when you break a string and people have to wait for you to change it. So I recommend bringing a back-up regardless. But for quality - I don't think you will have a problem with the guitar breaking down or falling apart. I have never had a problem - just broke a string which is typical.

Customer Support : 5
Never dealt with them. Been playing Fenders for 10 years and never experienced any problems.

Overall Rating : 10
As a guitarist, I have the "bug" to keep looking for the perfect Guitar and the perfect Sound. I truly believe this is the perfect guitar for me. The sound is just something you have to hear to believe. It has life to it, and harmonics, and just soars. The body is comfortable and lightweight. Neck is smooth. I own a Fender Big Apple and two Fender Stratosonics. I have owned Telecasters, a Schecter, Fender Custom Shop Showmaster and Gibson Les Paul Junior. Sure, you can still rock out on those guitars, but the Tom Delonge model just brings life to your music. I continue to shop around for a guitar that might be better than this one - but honestly I have YET to find one better. Oh, and the price for this guitar is outstanding. It's worth every penny, I just wish I bought more. I'm hoping to find another one soon - just not sure which color. I have the Daphne Blue one.

Fender Tom DeLonge Signature Stratocastor....its cool. I've been playing about a year so i dont have that much experience but its a fun instrument to play. For all the dumb ass' out there who say its for the stupid 12 year old kids who quit after a week, STFU. i started when i was 12(im 13 now) its cuz of this guitar that i became a devoted guitar player. Its good for beginners bcuz wen youre starting you don't give a shit about the tone or all the knobs u cud have. You just wanna learn some fucking songs! which is what i did. Alot of ppl say this guitar is a piece of shit, but thats cuz they seem to think its gunna have a bunch of other crap on it. When you buy this guitar expect what Fender says it has on it. Dont think its gunna be like a Gibson, cuz its not. There could be a few more knobs, but hey its made to be simple. Its also great for the price you pay. Obviously if you're looking at buying this you can't afford something much better. for the beginners...ITS GREAT

Sound : 9
I like the sound. It fits the punk/pop or just punk sound im into. If you're looking to play ACDC or Led Zeplin try something else, the sound on this guitar is too loud, sorta noisy and whiny. If you dont like that sound get something else. As for me i love the way that sounds so i think its awesome. Those miny amps sound like crap with this guitar, they do on any guitar but especially on this one. You get what you paid for when it comes to sound, nothing more or less.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The colour and pick guard are absolutely sick!! On mine they both had a real smooth finish with no flaws. Wood was pretty nice too. My friend has a squire which has a disgusting finish. Theres air bubbles and crap everywhere!
Only thing is the way the pickup sorta falls into the body. Its not a real problem for me but it could screw you up if you were playing sloppily.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Its got a great durability. FANTASTIC! My sister dropped it when she was "playing" it(she cant play for shit)and it looked like nothing happened. In the past year or so ive had it theres a scratch on the back about a cm long from my metal belt. The acoustic i have got a dent from that belt.
Its a pretty solid guitar that you can rely on. If doing a gig I'd still bring a backup, i only have another shitty Robinson and acoustic but i wouldnt be worried about having to use them.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havnt really looked into that but whatever. Im sure the warranty is as good as any.

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing a year or so. Also own an acoustic and Robinson, The fender beats the shit out of them. No surprise there. If it were lost or stolen id try to get the same one. Not sure if I'd still be able to find it though. Of course I'd rather have Tom's signature Gibson but i can't afford that, this is next best. Theres nothing i hate about it. I LOVE the way it looks though and the sounds cool too. This is AWESOME for a beginner and also great for anyone else whos into the whole punk scene.

Hi I dont own the guitar but have played it at a pawn shop in
Des Moines, IA. it is fucking awsome!!! from what i know this was made in mexico and sounds and plays awsome. just to let people of the general public know, that just becuase it was made in mexico does not make it bad. (i have a mexican made strat and it sucks ass, i have never seen or heard anyhting else as bad as it.) now compare that to Tom's model. Tom's is about 21 times better. it has 21 jumbo frets, one invader pickup by seymour duncan, one volume knob. NOT MUCH ELSE TO SAY IT IS A (FENDER) STRAT AND (FENDER) STRATS RULE BEYOUND EVERYTHING ELSE (IN PLAYING) AND DEPENDING ON THE MODEL CAN SOUND GOOD FOR ANYTHING AND OR EVERYTHING! it has every thing you need to play evrything. sounds awsome dirty and to play clean do what the man (ZAKK WILDE) does have the amp set dirty and a pedal for more edge. so just kick off the pedal and roll off the volume on the guitar(THAT IS WHAT IT IS THERE FOR)

THAT MESSAGE IS FOR ALL OF THE DUMB ASSES THAT SAID THAT IT CANT DO CLEAN. AND FOR THE JAZZ GUY---WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT. DID YOU JUST GO INTO THE STORE AND BUY IT WITHOUT TRYING, STUPID MOTHER FUCKER. IT CAN WORK WELL FOR WHAT YOU DO JUST ROLL OFF THE VOLUME KNOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sound : 10
GREAT! It is awsome. i played it through a Dean Markely amp and it went from smooth jazz to slight edge of country to ALT (the best kind of music esp. the 90's) to hard rock into thrash, and finnally into a burning ring of metal fire. remember that was a tweed
master volume amp made by dean markely. hahahaha

very lush and rich (if a lean thin mex/jap tele copy was dog dung. then this is pecan pie).

noise, WHAT!! what all guitars have noise this had no more noise than any others and if yours does buy a MXR/DUNLOP (the Best) noise gate.

i love everything about this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
who bo a chu what a crazy damn finish i will probobly buy the guitar and paint it a crazy dark ERNIE BALL GREEN that kinda feels like rough paper cuz thats cool.

BANG POP CRACK

HOLY RUSTED NAIL BATMAN

strong strong strong please dotn worry about it. The baby knocked it of a shelf and chiped some paint and dented the guitar (said by a true dumb ass earlier). O MY i think any guitar would. even a Trusset guitar or sometin like that (they are made of metal).

this guitar definately suits hard rock, punk and even heavy metal...but i hafta admit it sounds questionable wen i tried to play some Chuck Berry and the Beatles stuff....it has a rich thick sound even through my shitty no name amps..js the rite sounds for pop punk stuff from blink 182 and Green Day...which is a good thing bcoz pop-punk is still by far my fav genre although im slowli being influenced by jazz, metal and rock n roll...despite this, the guitar in a way lacks variety...but i dunt mind as i love the sound of distortion through this guitar!

P.S Old skool stuff such as jazz , rock n rol and funk is coolz but please dunt dis punk bcoz its easier to play....its all about being catchy!..u dun need to play 5 minute solos to be good:D!..anyway cheers...i know i get shit form osme old guy saying im a fag!

My Tom DeLonge Stratocaster was made in 2002, in Mexico, this is the only place they made these guitars, if you research, this isn't the EXACT guitar Tom uses or did use, his was made at the Fender Custom Shop in California and had some differences. It is the closest you can get though :) they are now out of production and are rare to come across and Tom has got a Gibson signature model now.

21 Frets, One Volume knob, single Seymour Duncan Invader Pick Up, Alder body with Maple neck and Rosewood fretboard, String-Through body Vintage Hardtail bridge. Vintage tuners Jumbo frets i believe. Comes with Gig bag. Not alot of features, but if you like simplicity from a humbucker and don't want to mess around with controls these rule.

Sound : 9
Ok. All i need to say is Blink-182 are a pop-punk or power-pop band. This guitar was made for that style. So when you come on complaining about how crap this guitar is for your dads jazz band, why didn't you research into who's signature guitar this is? Did you expect loads of tonal variation from a single volume nob and humbucker? Why didn't you think about what style of music Tom Delonge plays, and find out it's the total opposite to your fathers style. I'm pretty sure not many people would spend $750 or #500 on a guitar that they didn't know anything about. Did you try it out in the store??? Man, some people... Neway,

for pop-punk and power pop this guitar is great. It gives a nice bright tone and great distortion when played through a marshall or mesa boogie. I havn't tested it in anything else apart from a Crate amp and it sounded fine in that to. I will admit that if you wanna play anything apart from power chords and distorted songs, then this guitar won't be the best. But was it made for blues solos? Was it made to be played on clean? No, so if you want blues solos and a clean guitar, go and buy a single coil american strat or something. For it's style this guitar is great :)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I havce heard people say the pick up falls into the body but i have had no problems. Everything was pretty much fitted fine just had to tweak a few things like the action (height of the strings) but this depends on where you buy it from. Fine.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Made for throwing around and jumping around on stage. Will definately last for years to come. Great Surf Green finish, totally surf style, mint. I would use it without a backup for sure. P.S i have seen a video where this guitar breaks and tom delonge smashes it, but that's the only time i've ever known it not withstand live playing.

Great guitar for it's style, shame they don't make them anymore, would get many people into playing guitar, mainly kids like tom delonge, they won't really have the #1500 ($2500?) to buy his new gibson, and that isn't really too different in tone to this. (He uses effects pedals on the new album, yes, that isn't the standard tone of his guitar) :)

Have fun if you play one!

Sound : 10
this guitar suits a wide range of rock, and blues and has a pretty decent clean channel . i play anything from blink-182, green day and metallica and it sounds awesome for all. i use a Laney HC50R amp with a RP50 digital effects processor and it sounds awesome. this guitar sounds really good on marshall and randall amps. the pickups arent noisy at all, no matter how loud you turn it up. it has a real good heavy distortion for punk and metal

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the guitar never goes out of tune and i play it for 1-2 hours a day. this pickups came a little loose after having it for a few monthes, but it can be easily fixed. it had no flaws or scratches on it when i got it, and still doesnt.

Reliability/Durability : 10
this guitar is defiantly suitable for playing live.the hardware is very durable. none of the finish has worn off. i put straplocks on it the day i bought it so im not sure how the strap buttons hold up, but im sure their good. i would feel dependent on this guitar without a backup. plus fenders are known to be durable.

I bought my strat for now 2 years ago at home in germany. Its was fuckin happy about that cause its was nearly one of the last.
She has off course the typical harware and an amazing invader humbucker. "She" is finished in surf yellow. Surf yellow is not realy "the burner" but it looks very cool and different then other guitars does.

There is nothing more to say .................If you have an old amp there is no problem!! this guiatrs makes each old amp "screaming". I play it over an Peavy and an older JCM Marshall and it sounds just "brutal".

nice sound. if you are into punk(or whatever u want to call it) its a damn good guitar. dont get it if youre planning on playing something like jazz. everything about this guitar falls under one key word, simple. simple body, simple set-up, simple sound...made to play simple music.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8

look you people are forgetting one thing. before tom delonge put this guitar out to the public it was his own custom made guitar(and by all means, still is, just that before he was the only one playing it). if it doesnt suit u, than good. thats expected when u are literally buying someone elses custom made guitar. he made it to suit him, and if other people happen to like it than good.

i think its a great guitar. i can see people disagreeing with me, but it does not suck by any means.

Made in Mexico in 2001(?) this guitar has 21 frets (eh). This is basically just a repeat of what everyone else has said so I'm not gonna get too far into the specs. It has one volume knob, which controls the one Seymour Duncan Invader hubucker in the bridge. I got mine in black, since I couldn't find anything else. The pearloid pickguard is pretty nice, but I plastered mine in stickers, so it's kind of hard to see. String-through body with a hardtail bridge. Vintage tuners...

Sound : 7
This guitar is "decent" for anything with some distortion, i.e. Thrice, AFI, etc. Not good for clean though. Sounds very muddy...

In retrospect, I wish I wouldn't have bought this guitar...I should have saved and bought a damn Gibson Faded SG or a used Les Paul...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Action was alright, although I had to lower the bridge saddles a little, since the damn strings were above the neck way too far.

Reliability/Durability : 5
I think it could hold up live playing, and I have used it live...but I have to switch sometimes depending on what I'm playing, for example - Clean with this? No.

Nope, never dealt with customer support, don't plan on it...

I've been playing for two years and I have a standard stratocaster and Les Paul Speciall II (wouldnt mind selling either one).

I know some people that think this guitar is the shit, but it's actually far from it. This is possibly the biggest waste of $600 I've ever spent, besides that one hooker that gave me herpes...just kidding. But with all seriousness, this guitar really isn't that great. If you have $550+ to spend, keep saving and buy a damn Gibson. I'm so tired of Fenders, all they're good for is blues and classic rock, and I'm sorry, but my name isn't Buddy Holly or Eric Clapton.

Well the person before me is probably telling lies, because this guitar sucks. Made in Mexico, 21 frets, a Seymour Duncan Invader at the bridge. Very simple with a nice Pearloid pickguard. The person before me said it's "A very simple guitar that rocks hard". Well it's simple, but it definetly doesn't rock!

Sound : 4
I hate the sound of this guitar, and my father who has been playing guitar since the late 70's says it's a really awful sounding guitar, and I have to agree with my old man because...well...it does sound awful. I used it through my Ibanez, Marshall, and Crate amp, my father let me use it on his really old Fender amp, and this sounds just as bad!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Pick-up was loose, as for the person before me, MAYBE I WOULDN'T HAVE TO FUCK AROUND WITH IT, IF IT WAS PUT IT PROPERLY! Tuning pegs were loose, also the action was too high, so I lowered it.

Reliability/Durability : 5
RELIABILITY? Oh God, my little baby cousin of 1 1/2 years scratched this guitar, and pushed the stand down, the guitar fell, and suffered a major dent on the back. "Built like a tank?" This guitar is more built like a dog's chewing toy. As for gigs, well I gigged with this as a backup, you know the kind of backup that you just make random awful sounds on stage for a finale. Yeah! In that case, this guitar rocks, besides that, it sucks.

I wouldn't know, but my father says Fender has bad costumer support.

I own gear 3 times as cheap, and 3 times better, like my old Yamaha Stratocaster copy, and my Squier mini (My first ever guitar). There's nothing I wouldn't of asked before I bought this guitar, I just wouldn't of bought this guitar, I only bought this guitar because it was the only fender at the shop in my price range. If it were stolen or lost, it would be a perfect excuse to get a new guitar. I wish this guitar had a resonable pick-up and tone controls.

I didnt have any pickup problems with either of my guitars. Maybe you guys shouldnt F*%$ with your pickups so much. The hardware is all good, a couple of tuning pegs were loose, but i got that fixed. I had to lower the action on mine, but it plays great now.

if you buy this for your blink-182 tom delonge wannabee son/daughter, you might as well get the squier version.

Damn this thing sucks. i've heard squier strats sound better than this, it sounds as if it's been dropped down the stairs, a couple of times. it doesn't even have tone controls! you better off with a squier bullet or wannabe strats, this "guitar" doesnt even sound good on a marshall, ibanez, fender, squier, or roland amp!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
pickups were loose, i cut my finger on the fretboard, input jack was loose, strap buttons came off during a practice session with friends, the only decent thing is the pickguard.

Reliability/Durability : 2
NEVER will this stand live playing, dont even bring it for a back-up! the hardware is crappy, i have to put a new pickup, the paint job is bad, and its surf green, damn this sucks.

i dont know, i want to file a complaint. i got it as a gift so i dont know.

CRAP! i own a couple fenders and 1 squier, and an epihone les paul. if it were stole or lost i wouldn't care, i'd actually be surprised that somebody would steal this! i'd feel sad for that person. i hate everything except the pickguard.

Hardtail. One Pickup. No Tone Control. 1 Volume control. Suits some people (Tom Delonge Wannabes, people who dont do grades or play only punk).

Sound : 3
I dont own this guitar. But a friend does. & i have played it many, many times. I've used it through a carlsbro 100watt solidstate. It sounds really awefull. The distortion channel just makes it really sludgy sounding. Lacks clarety. & cant get a nice clean sound with it either. Only good for punkrock, or perhaps thrash.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
The action is terrible. The neck finish is terrible. I have trouble sliding my hand down it. I have never encountered such awdward machine heads. Restringing the thing is a 3 man job.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It all seems reliable. I actualy use it as a backup. Dispite it being terrible in nearly all areas.

I have been playing for 3 & a half years. I play an Ibanez SZ520QM, it is 100x better. Trust me, dont get this guitar unless your a tom delonge wannabe. & i know il get some stick from the 13 year old blink182 fans about this review. But im a blink182 fan aswel. But im not stupid enough to like a guitar just because tom delonge uses it unlike most of the people out there.

99 model. I don't know why everyone else is complaining about the guitars features. it's not like you didn't know it was a 1 humbucker, 1 volume monster. I knew that, that's why I bought it. It's the second guitar I have like that, my third has two pickups, 1 switch and 1 volume, I won't even tell you about my fourth and fifth, they're way out there. In anycase. Features wise, this is a 60's style strat with a 70's headstock and a hardtail bridge. That's hard to find. Not to mention, it has a tub route under the guard, so if any of ya'll are like, "I wish my TD strat had more pickups," just buy a new pickgaurd and some new pickups and install them. It's that simple! Maybe if ya'll could see past the knobs and magnets and tremelos, you'd realize this is a unique guitar that it actually pretty well made. The neck pocket is well fitted, the body is a solid peice of Alder (I think... could be poplar) and it has one of the best necks on a fender (imo) The neck indeed IS NOT unfinished. It's finished in a thin polyeurothane. I like it.

Sound : 6
I liked the sound at first, but after careful deliberation and gigging, I found that the Invader didn't have enough clarity for me. Since then, I've put a Seymour Duncan 59'b in. If you're looking for variety of tone, this is not the guitar for you, if you're looking for a guitar to shred on, this is not for you, if you're looking for sparkling cleans, not for you. If you're a modder, this may be for you.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Oh... Fender can still do it. The finish on mine was a flawless, deep torquoise. I love it. The perloid pickguard defines the guitar, as well. The guitar came out of the factory feeling like a board with strings on it, but, after some intonations, cranks of an allen wrench and hours spent playing, I warmed up to the guitar pretty fast. It's pretty nice for a MIM peice.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It's a strat with 1 pickup and 1 knob... how unreliable can it be? It's a tank!

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Go for it! It's uber nice, sure it isn't a Gibson Les Pual or PRS McCarty, but, if you were looking at this guitar, could you afford the other two? And if you're looking at this guitar, aren't you really just looking at the name? I mean... I did for a while, but, after gigging with a freinds, I gave in. I bought my own, cuase I loved the insane output of the invader and simplicity of the guitar. Plus, it just feels better than a regular strat. Comparing it to my 72' Ibanez (1 Dimi Super Distortion w/1 volume), Epiphone Strat (1 SD 59' & 1 SD ant SC w/1 switch & 1 volume), Epipohe Les Pual (stock) and 60's Burns 12-string (SD hot rails & SD Cool Rails w/on/off switchs, tone switch, volume, tone & variable coil tap) is fictitious. All of those blow it out of the water, but, it's a super nice Fender for a pretty good price. GO FOR IT! And if you don't like how it sounds, slap some new pickups in, like me!

This Guitar was very cheaply made and it is Mexican, so the wood is very cheap and mine (which I have had for 4 years) has 2 dings in it and a scratch on the body. It is 21 frets. Its made with one, ONE volume knob, no tone knob or shit like that just ONE fucking volume knob. I was very inexperienced when I first bought this guitar so for all of the beginners out there DONT BUY THIS GUITAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pickups are POORLY mounted on the guitar, when i play it, i have to raise them back up or they end up falling into the guitar! But i will have to say that other than EMG 81s I would play with Seymour Duncans. So thats a plus and another plus is the kick ass pickguard, its like shiny pearl which is killer dude. When I bought it, it came with a very unreliable gig bag which didn't serve much protection for the guitar. It is a Fender Stratocaster with 70s headstock and unfinished neck with a maple fretboard and pearl inlays. 3 words....Piece Of Shit.

Sound : 8
It suits my style of music FINE! I play pop punk like things like Yellowcard and The Starting Line and things so yeah. I use a Crate GFX 2x12 with 4 Boss pedals and an Ibanez Tube Screamer. It sounds absolutly terrible on clean, if u want a good quality clean guitar, go get an Ibanez or Gibson.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Once again the pickups are sweet but the way that they act inside of the Strat are TERRIBLE!!!!! THEY FALL INTO THE GUITAR!!!!!!!!!

Reliability/Durability : 2
RELIABILITY?!?!?!!!!!!!! HA! Thats a joke! I had to spend another $415.00 to buy an Epiphone Les Paul because this guitar is soooooooo unreliable live!

Uh... lets see. No trem, ONE pickup, one volume POT. That's about it. Not really enough for anyone besides 12 year old pop punk clones who will quit playing after a week. Even those fucking "nu-metal" players have no use for this piece of crap!

This is basically a stripped down mexican standard strat selling for the same price. No thanks...

I'll give features a 2 because it has a pearloid pickugard. Pearloid pickguards kick major ass.

Sound : 1
Well, clean... uh. No. It sounds like utter crap. You'd think an alder body could come close to saving this pickup, I guess not.

Dirty. I can't decide if it's worse than the clean.

I'll admit that this guitar does exactly what it's designed to do. That is, sound like a shitty pop punk band that sings about going to school, even though they're all at least in their 20's.

As far as the pickup goes, here's a general tip:

HIGH OUTPUT DOES NOT EQUAL TO GOOD SOUND

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
This is still a Fender. That means the finish is of high quality, and that the guitar can take a good setup. But no good finish or good setup can do anything for this guitar...

The neck doesn't feel quite right though. It feels like Tom Delonge personally pissed all over it before it was finished.

This category gets a 3. We can't forget that this is a Fender.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have to give this category a 10. This is a Fender. They're built to last. However, that is a low point for this guitar. That means that wood chipper will have a tougher time with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Can't comment here.

I bought this guitar for my son. He was really into Blink 182. I initially saw this as a good thing, as I had never heard any of their music before. I actually thought that they might be a shred band (182 notes per blink?).

His birthday was coming up, so I thought he might enjoy Tom Delonge's signature guitar. When I got to the local store, I gotta say I was suprised to see what I saw. Most of my favorite shredders use whammy bars, their guitars have more than 21 frets, and they certainly need more than a bridge pickup. I figured my son might still be onto a great new band, so I bought it.

When his birthday rolled around, I gave him the guitar. The wife gave him a stereo system (a Sony, of course). The second he put on one of his Blink 182 albums, I knew I had made a huge mistake. You see, the boy only had a discman until then. I had never actually heard Blink 182's music.

Well, some good parenting kicked in. I took away the guitar, and he's listening to my Joe Satriani albums right now. That should straighten him up!

I've tried to sell this thing, but no one will take it. I'll be taking off the pearloid pickguard. I've booked it an appointment with the wood chipper sitting in the back yard. What a fun day that'll be...

Anyway, I'll give this guitar a 2. It did after all come with a pearloid pickguard.

Made in Mexico, 21 frets, typical Standard Strat body and neck. Only one pickup. At least there was a case included (for 800 bucks there bloody well should be). The neck "looks" like maple, but its probably the same shit they have on those desks in high schools.

Sound : 1
Oh man this thing is brutal. Playing this is the equivalent to a complete rectal examination. The one pickup sounds like it was soldered together with molten plastic. Fender really buggered up on this one. I played it through a Mesa Boogie Roadking (beautiful amp) with Fulltone Fulldrive effects pedal, and the damned thing still sounded brutal.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Again, this thing is dogshit. I own 2 other Fenders, an SRV Sig and an Yngwie Malmsteen sig, and this does not even compare. The "Duncan Invader" pickup was so poorly mounted that I had to strip down the guitar and re-reroute everything. Seriously, go out and buy yourself a Squier Bullet, and it will sound and play better than this hunk of crap.

Reliability/Durability : 7
It is a Fender, so I do expect it would hold up, which is pretty much all this crap-stick has going for it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Fender since they usually make good products. I'd like to hear the excuse they have for this one though.

Utter crap. I play blues, jazz, progressive rock and some metal. I bought this guitar for my son because he'd been bitching at me so god damned much, and I didn't want another visit from Child Welfare. Ive been playing for 20+ years, and this is the worse attempt at a guitar I have ever seen. If you ever consider buying this thing, take a step back, pull your head out of your ass, and look at a Standard Stratocaster.

Note to punk rockers: learn to actually SOLO, then yod may actually realize that punk rock blows, as does everything associated with it.

look let me set it straight to all those morrons who put bad reviews, if you wanted to play jazz on your guitar you should have bought an epiphone, and did that twat who said he set fire to it even play it in the shop, its got an amazing rich sound even through my crappy 15 watt fender amp, and it is fucking noisy what do you expect.
I like everything about it seeing as i dont use any other pickup than the bridge one on any guitar so it rules. good for almost anything maybe apart from jazz. but only old men play jazz so there!

You know the deal...Seymour Duncan invader humbucker, one 500k volume pot, vintage tuners, 70's headstock, deluxe neck, hardtail. Mine is daphine blue... only because i got a good deal on it. Not that i dont like it but i play more "agressive" punk than blink-182. Yellow would have been a much better choice but this one was used and had character. No real comlaints the retro color reminds me of the 50's.

Sound : 9
Well this is going to be biased for a few reasons. For starters i actually LIKE the SD Invader humbucker and have it in my Epi S-210 as well. Im running the TD through a JCM 900 SL-X 2500 head and Mesa/boogie 2-12 3/4th back custom cab with Black shadow celestions. An all tube amp really makes this guitar come alive!! Like i said i play punk but with metalish lead runs al-a Thrice and this guitar/amp combo works great for it. When i need a different (lighter/thinner) sound i use the single coils in my epi or one of my other "traditional" guitars. I dont mess with guitar tone controls much since my amp is very capable of drasticly changing the tone so i didnt need 2 tone control pots. As far as the guitars natural sound it is full and thick... the highs are not like an icepick so thats a good thing in my book.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I got this guitar used.... The action was set as high as possible and had the crappiest strings you could think of on it. It wasnt taken very good care of (probably some 16 year old had it)... a little rusted and some dents on the headstock probably from cymbol bashing. The previous owner put a hurley sticker on the back of the headstock (cool) and wrote, i assume the bands name, "out of town!" on the back of the body in magic marker looks like a girl did it which is allmost gone now. Anyway the fit and finish was otherwise acceptable for a retail mid priced fender. Im giving it a 9 for what it is not what was done to it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Hey its a Fender! That alone commands respect. Everything on this guitar is solid and would stand being dropped, thrown, and whatever else you could throw at it. I allways have other guitars and a backup amp when i go out to shows but if i only had this guitar id feel confident that it would get me thru the gig. A solid 9. 10's are for the holy grail of guitars and i havent found it yet probably never will.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them but im sure they are better than korg (Marshall's USA distributor)

Overall Rating : 9
Well im Going on 21 now and started playing when i was around 14-15 on a Vantage Avenger guitar. So, what thats about 6-7 years? I have no regrets about buying this guitar other than MAYBE the color since it doesnt fit darker punk but the guitar itself certianly does as well as lighter pop punk. If it were stolen (probably wont happen considering the stigma surrounding buying a "pop punk" guitar) id try to track down another one and pay an exorbaint price for it since fender no longer makes it. Overall its a good solid guitar that will withstand years of abuse. If your thinking about getting one go ahead and get it.

The Tom Delonge Fender Strat features your standard punk setup. You get a 70's Strat headstock, with a seymour duncan invader pickup, and one volume knob.
It has your basic strat look. The neck is actually easy to whip up and down. I mean it is not a Jackson but still great. When I say it is'nt a Jackson just so nobody's confused I mean the neck. It has a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. You get a gigbag with it. As most of you know the item was made in Mexico, but it does'nt seem that way. It has been discontinued, so don't go to guitarcenter and ask for one. And it's a deluxe series guitar. Plus, the invader really screams. Overall if your looking for a punk setup it's great. And just as a tip I got mine in yellow. In my opinion daphne blue is gay, either get a yellow one, a green one, and even maybe the black one.

Sound : 10
I play punk music, and this guitar should get a room with punk music that's all it's made for. I work this guitar with a Fender reverb amp and a Dod 30 effect pedals. I dont mainly use the effects, but every now and then I make up a song using them. My amp settings are at low 3 mid 6 and high 9. It's your loud obnoxious guitar you've been waiting for. And all the people who said it sucks are fucking stupid, you dont buy this guitar so you can play jazz. Although if you put your amp or effects just right it works. Another thing I love about this guitar is how different it is in an amplifier. Like if you were to walk into guitacenter looking for a punk guitar and you played this without an amp you'd think it was'nt the guitar you were looking for. It sounds almost like an acoustic without an amp. But with one the seymour duncan pickup just screams. If you want to sound like blink or any punk band pick this up. But for all you idiots out there if you want to have a jazzmaster dont buy this guitar and then complain about how it sucks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I got the guitar brand new and everything seems to be perfect, although I'm not gonna lie I have heard they made a lot of bad ones, just dont go buying it unless you've seen it. I keep my in a gigbag, and eventually in a nice hard case. But overall just inspect what your buying. If you buy it on the internet like ebay which I did, and dont see enough pictures, ask for more. Nine out of ten times they'll give you some. DONT EVER BUY ANYTHING OFF EBAY WITHOUT PICS, I never have but the chances are your buying bullshit.

Reliability/Durability : 9
My thinking is if the guitar could'nt stand live playing why would Tom use it live. It seems like it will last a long time too. The strap buttons are solid although I plan to get straplocks. Basically, if you have a second guitar that is nice you have to be stupid not to bring it. But yes I would trust this at a gig. When I play with my band I play hard, and I have'nt had a problem. I play even harder live.

Customer Support : 10
I got it off ebay brand new never played, and he was'nt lying, when I got it was untouched. I got it one week later when I was on my way to practice with my band it came in so I turned around and got it. My band loved the guitar aswell. No warranty, but the seller was great.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm not old at all I'm only 12 and a half, and I play in a punk band as lead guitarist. If it was stolen or lost I'd get it again in Yellow or green. What I love about this guitar is Tom kept it simple. I love the Invader pickup, and there's nothing I hate. I also have a Jackson EX Stealth Pro. and that guitar works better with other music,so when we practice it's always a great thing for a backup or another guitar. I play on a fender reverb amp w/ dod 30 effects pedals. I use to use my effects mainly on distortion with my Jackson but I will never need them with this guitar. I play with my amp settings at low 3, mid 6, and high 9 Basically If you love blink and if you want to know how Tom makes those kick ass riffs get this guitar. But dont expect the guitar to do the work you still have do be a good player.

Invader humbucker, volume, tone. 22 frets-not alot going for it. (Tom Delonge licks balls.)

Sound : 1
The invader humbucker was a thourough dissapointment. It doesn't have much bite or trash, its a more or less a piece of shit. Unfortunately, its the only pickup on the guitar so you're pretty much stuck with it. The guitar has no variety (none), it can do some low key rock and punk. One of the reviewers claimed they played jazz on this guitar--they are either deaf or autistic.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
Ghetto.

Its a fender so it is realiable and durable, which is actually frustrating because it means its harder to break when I slam the guitar into the concrete next time I see it. Tom Delonge is a douchebag.

Fender is straight. Tom Delonge is gay.

Don't waste money on this guitar, either save up and buy a US Highway strat or cut down and buy a standard fat strat to get the humbucker tone. you're hardly buying it for the vast array of features are you? its not what this guitar is about. i'm gonna give the features here a high mark because they are perfect for what this guitar is about which is a no nonsence plug in and rock guitar.

Sound : 8
Fat, smooth and powerful is how i'd describe this guitar. sounds great thru the lead channel of my marshall dsl head. really fat distorted sounds found here. sounds great for rock, punk, and emo. on clean settings the pick up does want to distort a bit more thanid like, due to its high out put but the sound is really nice. I also want to say the neck on this guitar is AMAZING. best ive played, really fast, slim neck, its just beautiful.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
bit of a let down here. the screws on the bridge were set really high and continually scratched my hands til i had shorter screws put in. really hard for pain free palm muting...hardly ne good on a guitar aimed at punks! the action however was gorgeous.not too low, not too high. brilliant. the finish was perfect, really nice.the volume know keeps dropping off tho and has to be constantly tightened which sucks. rest of guitar however was fine...nice frets, nut, etc.

Reliability/Durability : 7
this thing is built really solid, like most fenders its gonna take a battering. i've abused it onstage and its pretty hard to mark the finish. had it over a year and it still looks great. this guitar will last a looooonngg time. really solid. my concern tho is the electronics. during practice once, the pick up cut out and sounded really nasty. i took it for repair and it was a loose wire! what's that about?! let down an otherwise brilliant guitar.

i love the playability of this guitar the most. the neck is amazing, it just begs to be played for hours on end! i love the daphne blue finish, large headstock. its a beautiful guitar.i guess with the price of this guitar is aimed at the 'higher standard' epiphone end of the market but its so much better than that. compared to other #400 guitars this guitar kicks ass.

1 passive Duncan invader, 1 volume knob. hardly an array of features, how can you give it a '10'?
Dont know what the bodys made of, prob balsa wood or MDF.

Sound : 2
Sounds like a leper being spanked with a large wet kipper. Add some overdrive and it souns like a kipper being spanked by a large wet leper. I normally use it through Mesa Boogie Roadking and it sounds about as aggresive as Julian Clarey on prozac. Il give it a '2'instead of a 1 cos it sounded quite nice when i set fire to it and threw it offstage.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Seemed like it was set up by a blind, atonal bricklayer with no hands. or face. The pickup was alright, shame it was wasted on such an awful guitar, so i ripped it out and put an active emg in it to try and improve the sound, unfortunately it onlymade it louder, amplifying the guitars lack of tone and dynamics.

Reliability/Durability : 1
I would never be seen dead with this guitar, and only bought it cos i had read it was good for its price bracket. I doubt it would withstand live playing, feels about as solid as you would expect from a guitar designed to the specifications of a complete pussy wannabe punk guitarist who hasnt been weaned off breastfeeding yet.
Didnt seem to take too well to me setting fire to it and throwing it against a wall.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Didnt bother, im sure fender r pretty decent wen it comes to dealing with complaints, but with this guitar its really not worth it.

An Awesome Invader Humbucker (OOOHH YAA)
Chorm Volume Knob is nice
And the volume pot or whatever its called is really effective too.
Fast Action neck
22 Frets
I love the Surf Green paint job it got!

Sound : 10
This guitar suits almost any style not sure for jazz, I play mostly rock and punk.
I play it using a Peavey Bandit 112 and let me just say it sounds so freakin awesome. The modern distortion that I use with my amp has never sounded any better with any guitar except my tom.
Usually never noisy
Its FULL of sound and its very bright!
Theres just one tone but if its a tone you like you'll like it.
Nothing disliked about it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action on mine is high and I like it that way, its not that great once above the 15th fret but I usually am not into going that high anyway.
The pickup was adjusted just fine.
DO NOT sit there and keep touching the pickup. It rest on a spring and it will come loose and then you have to take the pickguard off and stuff.
Just don't fuck around with the pickup alot and you'll be fine.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've bumped into all kinds of things and still not a SINGLE scratch.
Its very strong.
My straps stay on just fine.
Right now its my number one guitar and I'll never need a backup for this.

Warranty is suppose to be lifetime but i never did deal with it so..

I've been playing for 2 1/2 years
I own a Squire Strat which is OK
My amp is a Peavey Transtube Bandit 112, LOVE that thing!!!
If it were stolen I'd so buy it again.
I love it cuz its design to just plug in and start playing your heart out!

i wanted a guitar different than anything out there. I GOT IT!!!

I replaced the invader pickup (brash sounding) and installed a seymour duncan custom custom (smooth lows, expanded mid, sweet highs)
Then I added a tone contol!!! The body is a mex-strat bodyunder the pickgaurd so it was no prob.(even a slight chambered sound).I LOVETHISGUITAR! plays like a strat sounds like a gibson.

factory setup was great...felt perfect to me as soon as i picked it up action was good but change strings (fender does NOT make good strings) D'Add 10's
I love the telecaster control knobs..none better..everything else is what you would expect from fender.looks great in surf green w/pearloid pickgard.

2003 model i suppose. they had just discontinued them and i got a sweet deal on it. alder body, maple neck w/rosewood fretboard, 21 medium-jumbo frets, and a duncan invader pickup. also has hardtail bridge, vintage fender tuners, and one volume knob. i give it a ten not because i feel it has alot of features but because there is quality in what it does have. also i hate blink and tom.

Sound : 10
my style is hard rock- kiss/sabbath/etc. and i love good guitar players that can shred(yngwie, gilbert, rhoads etc.) i use this guitar with a marshall avt50 head and marshall 1951a 4 x 10 cabinet. sounds great on the overdrive channel, the clean is ok but neither the marshall or this pickup is made for clean picking. i like it because it is all that i wanted in the guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
i set mine up to my liking and everything is tight and of good quality and will take a beating. i give no comment cause this is all preference.

This guitar was made in Mexico, with 22 frets, only one little volume control, 1 seymour duncan invader pickup, and it came with a a gig bag when i bought it, I it at a local guitar center. I gave it a 7 because there isnt much to this guitar, except a volume knob.

Sound : 8
I play any kind of rock music, yes some blink 182 too also, it fits my music style pretty well with the Seymour Duncan Pickup. The sound is O.K. its good for a 20 dollar pickup :). I could use more of a variety of sounds, I gave it an 8 because the 1 sound that you get is not too bad.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This guitar did not have ay flaws in the paint job, except a few tiny scratches probably caused by people trying the guitar out, no biggy. The bad thing about this is that my pickup keeps falling in the bridge because the screw gets real loose and I have to take my strings off (wich is a pain on this guitar) and put the screw back in and all that. I liked the feel of the neck a bit but its not as good as my Les Paul, i prefer thinner necks. All and all the the action fit and finish is not bad except for the pickup always falling so i gave it an 8.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I would take this guitar to a gig if i had one, it should do pretty good. This guitar seems like it will last me a long time, the thing will never break after i keep dropping it. I can kind of depend on it, who knows maybe the pickup might fall in while im playing, i wouldnt use it on a gig without a backup, nor with any other guitar. I gave it a 9 because this baby will last a long time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company.

Ive been playing for 1 year and I have a epiphone les paul custom, i usually play that more often then the Tom Delonge, but I still use it. If it was stolen or lost I probably wouldnt buy it again, i would probably buy a guitar that feels better and has more sound variety to it. I like that the guitar is pretty well made and looks nice with the pearl pickgaurd and i disklike the only one tone knob and 1 pickup that keeps falling in. I wish it had more pickups, it would be awesome :) Overall i give it a 7.

The Tom DeLonge Stratocaster gets a five on features because lets face it, there are not many. i would have given it an eight but the guitar is too damn hard to string, i HATE the vintage tuning machines, it takes me at least 45 minutes to string this puppy, but its well worth the time.

Sound : 10
Blink 182 has been my favorite band since Dude Ranch came out, so you could understand the piss-your-pants excitement i experienced when i first saw the Tom DeLonge Signature series at the NAMM show. (i go to every one of them). i bought this guitar because of the name that was on it. after i played it i realized how completely awesome this guitar is, total in your face tone. I'm in a pop-punk band and this guitar suits my style perefectly. my setup is the DeLonge start into a Randall Vmax (yes..i use a randll for punk). NO DISTORTION PEDALS-it's a sin to get any distortion other than from your amp. this has got to be the best punk guitar EVER its got articulate highs and very balanced mids, although i do agree with one of the reviewers that it does have a lot of bass, but thats the price you pay for a godly humbucker. ever played it unplugged? this axe's acoustic tone beats my Taylor and Gibson jumbo. overall, this is the best rock guitar EVER. the only thing i dont like about it is the tapping sound you get from the pick hitting the pickguard. oh well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The only problem i had was the pickup needed some adjusting but that was quickley taken care of.

Reliability/Durability : 10

it sounds great through mesa and marshall ok through fenders amps which surprised me and kinda colored through peaveys but most guys who play this guitar i doubt favor peavey amps which i do but i like to mix shat up a little, when i turn the volume knob on its sorta like a car without power steering it takes a while to start turning well it takes mine a while to turn on, but the invader makes it freakin rip anbody a new one i could car less if it was a les paul loaded with humbukcers this guitar will show you whats up

not many features here, just like all the ads say its a stripped down scrappy axe, i'll be adding a tone knob tho. it gets a 3 for features as this is not a feature based instrument.

Sound : 8
here's where all the 15 year old reviewers go nuts defending their silly music. your personal taste in music is not the issue here. personally i like the sound this guitar makes, the alder body offsets the darker nature of the invader and it makes a great little beater guitar. i would use this for jazz and/or blues just to piss people off and because i know how to operate my amp. i didnt choose this for its clean sound but it does get a decent one. i would've preferred something more trebely but the invader does a good job.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the strings were way too light for my tastes, 9's feel like hairs, action was good. i wouldve preferred a maple fretboard but what can you do. i'll be raising the p/u.

Reliability/Durability : 10

ive been playing for 3 years-dont you love people like me who think they know everything. i really wouldve liked to read some reviews on this guitar but this section is flooded with 13 year old goofusses who think 'punk' is the be all end all type music. then there are the other chumps who should wait until they pass adolesence before reviewing this guitar. ripping on tom delonge is really lame,at the time this guitar was realeased blink182 was popular and fender saw their chance to make some money. i really think this is a great little axe whether for a beginner or some cat like me looking for a beater. if it were stolen id hunt down the moron who swiped it. oh yeah the dude who mentioned removing the name plate, good idea. i dont like having peoples names on my guitars. despite the stigma this guiar carries with it, its a great guitar. get one, mod it all up and play it till it falls apart.

2002 MIM Strat w/ single Duncan Invader at bridge - you know the drill. This one finished in Green. Extremely limited piece of kit (entirely due to the pickup) but, as noted below, a decent platform on which to put together a good guitar at reasonable cost. When I first plugged this in I was absolutely appalled. Its got only one sound and that sound is unbelievably limp. Forget about any clean sounds in stock trim. I was lucky enough to be given this thing and have installed a PAF Pro as this was basically uselss to me as is. Contemplating adding another 'bucker in the neck for a sort of Mexican Big Apple equivalent.

Sound : 2
I guess the Invader pickups do their job. That is if the job is churning out bland softcock music for people who dont know any better. For a supposed 'punk' guitar this thing has no teeth whatsoever! Can you imagine how insipid Steve Jones would have sounded with Mr DeLonge's rig? Its nice to see Jack White and friends currently nailing down the coffin lid on this Californian middle class shit, not to mention the entire embarrassing Nu-metal thing.

Once I got that Invader out (I gave it away - I cant imagine ever using it again its that cheesy) this is a very functional guitar. I particularly like the hardtail bridge as I've never used a stock Strat Bridge that didnt suffer tuning problems.

I am currently favouring a red knob Dual Showmen through an old quad loaded w/ Greenback celestions for gigging. At home I favour my Deluxe Reverb. Guess I'm just a Fender type of fella. Effects (when used) are usually limited to a Big Muff and Digitech whammy.

My rating is for the stock instrument.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Who gives a shit about factory setup so long as the guitar will actually take a proper setup? That said, I'm once again pleasantly surprised at the finish on the MIM Fenders. Probably not the prettiest Rosewood I've ever seen but quite passable. Paintwork is good but certainly not top-shelf. The acid test will be how this holds up in a few years as recent Fenders have a tendency to be poorly sealed and sinking paintwork is common. Nice to see their fretwork has improved enormously over the last coupla years. But, for these prices Fender can still lift their game. Don't get me started on Gibson...

The neck pocket is tight and everything works as it should.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Fenders are among the most resilient guitars of all due to their inherently strong design so yeah, gigging is no drama. These things are born to play live.

Play a gig without backup? If you never break a string yer aint playing hard enough!

Playing without Straplocks if you can afford 'em is just idiotic.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Overpriced spare parts are my only real direct dealing with Fender.

Overall Rating : 5
Been playing for around 15 years and own a fair few guitars/amps of varying brands. That said I have a great fondness for Fender gear in general and the Strat in particular.

It says a lot that Fender would give this guy a signature model. Everything I've heard from this goose screams sellout and fraud. Money talks I s'pose. I mean, whats a guy of his age doing singing about being at school? What a phony. Anyway, I'll give this particular signature model another 3 years if its lucky (Nuno Bettencourt Washburn anybody?). I hear they're selling well now so in a few years you'll be able to pick 'em up cheap when their N'Sync grade fans move onto something else. Pick one up for for a few hundred, fix the pickup problem and you've got a good cheap Strat. Its a good thing they didnt let Tom DeLonge sign the thing anywhere you could actually see it. Probably to keep the embarrassment factor down...

If it were stolen I'd hunt the thief down and strangle the imitation punk with his wallet chain.

Bottom line: Good guitar, awful pickup.

Great feel and action, hard tail is much better than all that "tremelo" wammy bar junk. The Seymour Duncan Invader is GREAT for Punk and I like not having a bunch of knobs and switches to mess with. 60 cycle hum is now non existant. The classic fender color and look is nice. Overall the simplicity is great and it has the Strat "feel".

Sound : 10
I play older Punk, X, Black Flag, Germs, Ramones etc, and it sounds good, real dirty but not muddy. With my small practice amps "crunch" switch on, the Seymour Duncan howls, but at the same with time some tone adjustments, and the crunch off I can still get a decent clean sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Look action and finnish is great, the strat with oine knob and the Invader is different and I like it, it feels great and is easy to play. The Surf Green color and finnish is flawless.

After about 16 years of not playing (I was in a band burned out and walked away) My wife and kids encouraged me to pick up guitar again, so Off to Guitar Center I went. I tried a Squier, too cheap-o-, A Mexian Standard, nice but I hated the pickups, then I was introduced to the Tom Delonge, well back in my performing days I would have killed for this guitar, If you play Punk or any type of heavy chord based music buy it. You can't beat it for the money.
