If only i knew the woods used, believe fret board is maple, body is dense given the heavy weight. The body cut is a cross between a stat and a tele.. for that matter, is a cross between many body styles but is comfortable and balance in weight. Tele style saddle bridge. Neck is a bit chunky, great for me, slide and fingerpickin. A teeny weenie amp was included! lookin forward to miuking it thru my sound system. Pickups are hums... plastic cover.. thats what i said plastic.. I am laughing as i write this because my purchase of this guitar was for a Christmas present (early shopping) I took it from the box to be sure it was playable... What a shock! 2 volumes (2 pups).. 3 way tog. has a kinda paisly printrunning from the end pin about 3 inches wide up to the neck pup... great tacky, perfect! If a gypsy was to pickout a guita based on looks I believe this would be it. Also came with a cord.. I'm a stickler for high end cables. Except for the cheap box it was packaged in, this guitar was in a slightly cheaper way nonetheless just as effective as my fat body gretsch's packing.
Sound

sound.. no picks, flesh only, the sound is so perfect for slide and pickin I just have to laugh, helps if you have the chops and can coax your sound however with that said, this guitar sounds like a humid missippi night or a dusty mississippi road. The neck is I'm thinking made for a new player, for me its so fast i have to slow my roll.. get them little freebie sounds with a glass slide and even more with a metallic slide. The action as the guitar came from the box is a bit high but makes no diffence to me. Being a blues/countrt blues player for years I highly recomend this particular guitar if you want the intangible delta sound. I no nothing about first act but at least this guitar is much more serious then I expected to the exstent that I will gig whats left of the chitlin circuit. Its a guitar that is very easily controlled, make good sounds and is a no worry gig .
Action, Fit, & Finish

action might be high for speedy stuff but could easily be lowered.. finish I think is enamel but has a high sheen bolt neck... I get a kick out of this... the plug input is a strong as they get, too many guitars of high end prices have had inputs that are not tightened are won't stay tight, with those that i won't name... I have brought the hex back and a little drop of super glue with the metal handle of a small ratchet , I stick it in the shaft and tighten down the hex.. works every time. this one is so tight I tried to un-due the hex nut but after a sfairly strong attemt, this isn't needed. I can't even un-do it on purpose! The back of the neck was not rough but didn't have a finished feel. my buffer took care of that in a hurry.
Reliability/Durability

I can only guess that it would take would handle a half dozen people jumping up and down on it with the only the pot knobs and the toggle being affected.

are you kidden me.. I bought this a WalMart! a gift for a 10 year old. first guitar was an sg in 64. This guitar way ahead of my big name guitar for sliding and the sound produced, a side benifit is that its neck, string spacing is perfect for some Frank Hutchinson type lap guityar tunes. anything I wish it had... maybe a sticker that read "sucker' for the thousands of bux I have wrapped up in my few other guitars. As much as i love my Gretsch, the best tone for my ears is from a lowly Ibanez 75 which i pulled the stock pups, the gibson 57 at the neck is really a sound with many colors, this guiat ain't thee but it puts me in the sound place i want to be, mississippi and Northern mississippi and piedmont.. 149.00 bux Walmart.. nyuck nyuck nyuck
