I'm playing everything from Classic Rock, Blues to Jazz (for about 25 years). In my opinion the Mayfield sounds brighter than the es 335 i've tried so far, probably due to the maple neck and body. Tone control has a great impact on the sound, completely turned down a little muddy, but if you play around a bit a great variety of sounds is available.
Also sounds great with high gain lead sounds, wouldn't have expected this from a semi hollow design. In this case a little feedback though...

Due to the Plek - technology set up is almost perfect. Nothing to complain abaout. Nice low action, flawless finish. Ready to rock straight from delivery.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Perfect german craftmanship, i guess this one is made to last forever... Won't use it for gigging, too afraid to hurt this gem!

I own quite a few guitars (Fender Strats, Gibson Les Pauls, Jacksons, Yamahas ..), this is one of my favourites... Great looks, low action, great sounds... What more can you ask! I'd rather get a second one, than one of the stock gibson es 335....

The Framus Mayfield is a set-neck thinline semi design, slightly smaller in size than the ES-335. My guitar has a laminated mahogany top and back and solid mahogany side finished in a flawless 'natural high polish'. The Mayfield has a Tone-Pro's tune-o-matic bridge and comes strung with Framus 'custom light' strings (.009-.046). The guitar sports two Seymour Duncan humbuckers (APH-1n and APH-1b) with separate tone and volume pots and a three-way selector switch. The neck is also mahogany and sports a beautiful tigerstripe ebony fingerboard with Framus's 'custom' inlays. It has a comfortable 'D' shape. The fets are reassuringly large, making this a very comfortable guitar to play. The headstock is also inlayed. The metal trussrod cover has the Framus 'violin & globe' logo and identifies the model. Locking tuners keep the strings in tune. The guitar is as comfortable to play on the lap as on a strap. It begs to be hugged (ie. worn high on the chest) :).

Sound : 10
The guitar is full and resonant when played acoustically, and retains this character when plugged in. The bridge pickup has an aggressive, hard rocking tone that cuts well. Switching to the middle position smooths the sound considerably, and the neck position is 7th blues heaven. The tone and volume pots have a nice range and allow for considerable tonal variation. It can pretty much take you anywhere from AC/DC to Pat Metheney.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The setup of the guitar is absolutely flawless, the action is superb. (The .009-.046 gauge strings are an excellent choice, giving you the best of both worlds.) I've never owned a guitar with fretwork of this quality. All work on the body is clean, no excess glue, paint, etc. As mentioned above, the guitar sits comfortably on the lap and is well balanced on a strap.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar feels solid in my hands and inspires confidence. The strap buttons and the jack (side mounted) are durable. I especially appreciate the pickup selector switch, which is much sturdier than the one on similar American-made models.

I haven't had to deal with them yet. Framus/Warwick provide tons of information in the manuals that come along with their instruments and more is available online if need be. I would have to check the manufacturer's warranty but the vendor applies a 3-year policy on all the gear they sell.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over 20 years now. This is the first high-end guitar that I've splashed out on and considered many other instruments from various American, Japanese and European manufacturers before settling on the Mayfield Custom. The reason I eventually chose it over the others was that it has the right mix of classic looks and modern features. Many people I spoke to recommended the brand for their workmanship and the quality of the wood and hardware they use. The reason I give it a perfect 10 is that it just fits me right. I spent alot of time considering this purchase and wasn't ready to make compromises when paying this kind of money for an instrument.
