My guitar was probably made in the 70's or late 60's in West Germany. The body and head-stock are telecaster-style, the two pickups are similar to Gibson P-90's, but have a chrome ring around the outer edge. The neck of this guitar is it's coolest feature, I was told it was made out of airplane propeller-wood, it looks like thin veneers of wood glued together, each about 2mm wide. The body is tobacco sunburst. I'm unsure of the wood types, the top layer could be tiger-maple, the fret-board is rosewood.

Sounds great. At the time I got it, about 5 years ago, I thought I needed a humbucker in the bridge position. I was able to fit a Gibson humbucker in without any permanent modifications. I am now considering putting the original pickup back in. This guitar has great tone and fairly good sustain. It also stays in tune really well, but then again the tuners have been replaced with modern DiMarzio tuners.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is perfect, especially when considering the age of the guitar and the obvious signs that it was had a rough life. The only oxidation is on the bridge adjustment screws. The bridge also leans in slightly, so I'm sure the intonation is pretty off. I've been planning on getting this fixed for years, but haven't. All in all given the fact that this guitar has had a rough life, I'd say it was made very well.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is durable and reliable aside from the bridge problem (mentioned above) and a few cosmetic signs of abuse.

It appears that Framus is making guitars again, but I doubt they still make parts or could aid me in servicing this guitar.

I love this guitar; it is one of the best sounding guitars I own. If I find a deal on another old Framus guitar I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
