Features : 10
This custom guitar which I ordered to my specifications and with a lot of help from Seppo , the man behind Frankinsein Guitar Works , was made in Woodstock , Ontario , Canada in 2005 .It has a solid curly bubinga 1 3/4" thick body "StrataG" guitar, top and bottom bubinga slabs are one piece - glued "on the flat" like a layer cake, flame maple neck, ebony fretboard, 22 frets, 25 1/2" scale with medium jumbo frets, vee profile, all natural Danish oil finish , locking Sperzel tuning keys, bone colour Corian nut .The body has the shape and contour of a 1962 SG nose on a 60's Strat body with each having the appropriate contours for their original style, melding at mid guitar .
It has a DiMarzio PAF Pro humbucker in the neck posistion and a DiMarzio Fred in the bridge posistion with a 5 way strat style switch: position 1 is the bridge humbucker, position 2 has the outer coils in parallel, position 3 is both the bridge and neck humbuckers, position 4 has the inner coils in parallel, position 5 is the neck humbucker. Master volume control with a tone for each humbucker all 500k value with .05mf capacitors .Chrome knurled telecaster style knobs. Input jack mounted on chrome oval plate higher up the edge of the body - closer to the strap lock.
Wilkinson/Gotoh vintage six point mount tremolo .Chrome/silver hardware, no pickguard .black recessed rear control cavity and tremolo cover .Flush mount Dunlop strap locks.

The guitar came with a hardshell case and an extra set of strings.

Sound : 10
This guitar is very versatile, with the pickup configurations I can capture the sound of single coils as well as humbuckers allowing me to cover metal and jazz to country especially excelling in the classic rock sound.
My rig with this guitar is a Carvin Belair amp , wah ,boss SD1 overdrive ,chorus and delay . Noise is a minimum . Sound is awesome

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It has the best action of all my guitars, very fast. When sliding up and down the neck there is no resistance, it?s as smooth as glass or ice. Everything looks great, was set up perfectly with absolutely no flaws what so ever.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Live playing, no problem. Everything was designed and constructed to last .The finish is beautiful and durable. I will always be able to depend on this guitar without a doubt in my mind. It could be used on a gig without a backup. I myself would bring a backup in case a string broke.

Customer Support : 10
Seppo was great to deal with. I thought my knowledge of guitars was good but when my order was finalized my knowledge had increased greatly. He led me through the different tonalities of wood. The pros and cons of finishes, neck radii, and hardware and leading me through and helping me discover what I really was looking for in a custom guitar .Communication was excellent and for every step of the construction he would seek my approval of the construction thus far.
I've had the StrataG for two months now and there are no problems so far Treated properly this guitar should never require any repair work.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar for about 25 years and this is the nicest and best sounding axe I?ve ever played. I have one other Frankinstein that I still enjoy playing and an assortment of Fender electrics that have been sitting idle since the StratG arrived. It is truly a pleasure to play and I feel very proud to own such a beautiful and well crafted instrument. If it was lost or stolen I would most certainly get it replaced. I can't pick a favorite feature on this guitar as everything compliments each other beautifully. This could be the only guitar I would ever need in my life.Frankinstein Guitar Works does such nice work though that in the future I plan on indulging myself once more. Hmmm?
Cheers to Frankinstein Guitar Works!
