Fritz Brothers Custom Made Les Paul

This instrument was built in the late 70's or early 80's by Roger Fritz who is know for building custom guitars for George Harrison and Roy Buchanan.It has 3 P-90 pickups with coil tap on the tone control, mahogany body and Sperzel locking tuners and 3 way switch, much like a Gibson Les Paul.It is very much like a Les Paul style, only better workmanship. Fom what I can research,Rodger worked as head of technical/warranty department of Gibson for some time and knows this style guitar inside and out.The F inlay and the custom made inlay in the headstock are professionally done as are the cut diamond shape fret markers and the hand shaped stainless steel nut.

The sound is loud and powerful and can sound like a Strat, Tele or a Les Paul.It plays equally well through a Fender tube amp and my Roland BC60/310.This guitar likes to be played hard and will bark with responsiveness.The P-90's give the Fritz a vintage sound from Black Sabbath , Zeppelin, or ZZ Top to Grunge.

I have owned several Gibsons and find the Fritz to be much better quality built than any of them.This guitar has seen its share of playing time and still plays like a custom made guitar should.The headstock tilts forward slightly, which is different than other guitars, but is part of the Fritz custom design.

Very dependable and built to last.The guitar has outlasted the original case and will more than likely outlast the present case.You could gig without a backup but might take another guitar for a different sound or in case a string breaks, although this has never happened to me.

Fritz Brothers has stopped making guitars and from what I can tell, Rodger is touring with a band. The word is that he may once again start building instruments.With this said , I have no way of getting in touch with him if I do have a problem.The way this guitar is built, I am sure that what I can not fix,a gibson technician can.

I have been playing every major brand guitar over the last 30 years and find this to be the very best Les Paul style guitar ever built.If it were stolen, there would be no way to replace it unless the Fritz Brothers return to building custom instruments.
