Fylde 42R

You don't find this in the Fylde site any longer as they do not make it anymore. It used to be the top of the line guitar in the 1998 catalogueat at 1795 #. Beautifull shaded spruce top, 3 pieces rosewood back. Rosewood sides, with one sharp cut shoulder. One piece mahogany neck. Ebany fingerboard and bridge. Looks beautifull, it's a easy to play even though I would have prefered slightly wider neck as I have quite big hands and thick fingers. The mesures are 648 mm scale length and 43mm width at nut, it rembles a drednought similar to a martin d-28 but I believe it is a little deeper. No feedback when amplified if you know what you do. Zero fret. Sounds exellent both acoustically and amplified with very high quality L R Baggs duet mic system (one saddle and one condenser, one volume one mix knob, included). I use a L R Baggs para eq pre amp and straight in the board both live and in the studio and works very well. Fylde people did not drill in the wood for mounting the mics wich is something I appreciate. The wood is gorgeus and both sustain and clarity of bass and top strings are there in aboundance. I find this kind of guitar having much midrange normally, not this one really...and it sounds to me like it is improoving with time with warmer more resonant character. All finish is really neat. Feels and looks very nice, like those people at Fylde used a lot of times making it ready. I have seen some Taylor and Gibson wich were a shame compared to this and costing more.

I e-mailed Roger once and he answered fast. I think there is not support in most other countryes than England.

Very good guitar and different from Martin, Taylor, Gibson and other greats but in the same legue. Cheaper too! I have a Tom Anderson hallow drop top strat and a Heritage H575 jazz box and I love hand made instruments wich have "soul". I think this have his own thing and its getting better with time. I have since 1998. Always try one first before you order-buy.
