1980s model, I don't usually go for a wider neck as I have rather short fingers, However, playing the Fylde Caliban is no problem at all for me (this used to be my brothers), it's a bit strange looking, but I love it, it's a talking point to be honest. I would have liked the wooden Tuning keys as I think the chrome ones look a bit out of place, but maybe I will change them soon. If you like playing Gordon Giltrap (Best acoustic in the world) this guitar is perfect, to be honest, it's more of Finger picking style Guitar.

Sound : 10
It has a rich full sound, the sound hole may look a little odd, but it just seems to work with this guitar. Bass is rich and full while treble is bright and vibrant. Not a strummer?s guitar I would say, but a finger picker will love it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is low and fast! however, I'm not sure if this was factory set or due to my brother who used to own the guitar, he claims to have 'messed about with it' a bit. Not fussed for the Tuning pegs, I feel a guitar of this quality deserved better than the bog standard chrome ones, It has two small transparent pick guards that to me, because of position and size do not serve any useful purpose and from a distance actually look like flaws in the wood, I will have them removed eventually. The wood looks great otherwise and when standing in the corner gives that piece of furniture look. The build quality is excellent.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar is a solid build and will last for years if looked after. It is light and will take a lot of use. Live playing would be a doddle. However, I would not knock a guitar of this quality around, so if you?re into Pete Townsend style, forget it!

Customer Support : 8
Fylde themselves are a very polite and friendly company, but they are a bit slow to respond to emails, once they do however they are very helpful. I am thinking of having the guitar re-fretted and buffed up a bit.

Overall Rating : 10
I have not been playing long. Though I struggle while learning stuff on other guitars, I find I don't so much on this Fylde, in fact, for a learner as well as an experienced player, this guitar is Ideal, I learnt things on this guitar that I just found impossible to learn on others, I can't explain it, it has something to do with the feel of it, it's like it just blends in with my fingers somehow and allows me more speed and to do things that I can't do on other guitars. I will keep this guitar for life!

Made in the UK. Here is some of the best stuff!
Spruce top, 3 piece Indian Rosewood back, V-shape Mahogany neck.
D hole, wide bridge, but no Selmer tail piece. This is just a regular Steel string.
Cutaway.
Fancy abalone inlay.

Sound : 10
This guitar is a speed demon, I am quite sure you can play as fast on this guitar as on an Electric! Also string bends are super easy on it.
Somehow this guitar has great sound and yet a string tension that is not very high. Incredible articulate sound super nice!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I got this used, but everything looked perfect

Reliability/Durability : 10
This one was made in the 80's and looked in perfect condition so I think this one will last.

Customer Support : 10
I asked them a question about the woods, Bucknall himself emailed me back promptly!

Overall Rating : 10
This is one of the most amazing guitars around, incredible sound and super easy to play.
