This is a 1999 Special Edition - a run of 32 original Blues Boy that were built before the model became a part of the standard product line at G&L. It is the classic Tele look with the sunburst color on A solid Alder body, white pickguard, Seth Lover 55 humbucker in the neck and a regular G&L single coil in the boxed bridge. The fingerboard is Rosewood; and the maple neck and headstock are stained a vintage yellow tint. The classy top has white binding. With its volume & tone knob and the simple 3-way switch, this simple guitar is a tone monster. Built like a tank, stays in tune, plays like a dream, and is a rarebird [and, therefore, collectible]. It was a special run exclusively for Buffalo Brothers Guitars, near the G&L factory. Following the quick sellout of all 32 guitars and an outpouring of accolades from new owners, no wonder G&L started making them for everyone! Perfectly balanced, impeccable construction, sets up beautifully, and stays in tune. PLUS, it increases in value. What more could you ask of a guitar? This category is a bit misleading, because this guitar need NO OTHER features. It is totally awesome as is. In this case, less is more... so I'm giving it a 10.

Sound : 10
I've used it with a Dr. Z Maz18, Fuchs ODS30, Chicago Blues Box Kingston, Fender Jazz King, Fender Blues Jr, and Fender Vibro King. It does it all - from country to blues to jazz. The most surprising use is for jazz, because of its rich, full, warm tones. It can do it all with distortion pedals, but it really shows its stuff with cleans seasoned by a taste of reverb and delay. I've owned about every major brand, and it has a richer sonic pallet than any T-style I've played or owned before. A regular Tele can't touch it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I'm the second owner, so can't speak for how it came from the factory. All I can say is that the construction rivals any of the 100+ guitars I've owned since 1963. It's solid as a rock and stays in tune.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I mostly play at home, but have played out with it. If any guitar can take the road, this one can. Finished well. Wouldn't hesitate to use without a backup.

10-year warranty. Have called factory several times. Always responsive and helpful, but you don't always get a human when you call.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing over 40 years and own over a dozen brands of guitars - most of my collection are G&Ls. G&L is my favorite brand for guitars costing under $2500 - they simply cannot be beat in quality or value. The Blues Boy is my favorite model of the post-Leo guitars [those made since 1991]. If you own 2 guitars, one should be a Blues Boy.

Alder body. G&L bridge pu and Seth Lover neck. Everything works great on this guitar and comes standard with a flight case.

This guitar is deadly good. I'm using this guitar for Jazz and it is perfect for it. It has more bass and mids than my other tele's and the pickups are matched perfectly. I play Rock, Jazz, Funk and country and this guitar has killed everything. I play through a 68 Fender Bassman and a 65 Twin and it sounds great but I have plugged it into a Roland cube 30 and it still sound incredible. I found after playing it for a few hours that I was going for lines and chords that were almost unplayable on my other guitars (Mostly Strats and Teles. With all of my other guitars I would change something to make me perfectly happy but I don't feel that way at all with this guitar. It sounds great and plays better. I think I found a new main guitar after 10 years.

Put new strings (10-46) on right after buying it and it was ready to go. Plays better than all of my other guitars. The bridge pu is slightly microphonic at high gain but I don't play with that much distortion.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Haven't owned it for long enough to know myself but these things are handmade and have a reputation for being tanks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with them. Hopefully never will.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this guitar. I play mostly stats and teles (I have 9 of them) and I think I am going to buy G&L from now on. I would run and buy another one if this one was stolen.
